It is an absolute honour to have Ben back on the Well & Good poddy. Listen in for an in depth conversation around family health; covering pre-pregnancy and fertility through conscious conception right through to optimal nutrition post birth to combat postnatal depletion. Because of Ben's background, naturally the conversation covers optimal nutrition, dealing with stress and anxiety and how we can nourish ourselves each day through the use of psychological aspects of gratitude. Ben provides education around diet, lifestyle and nutrition tips to support a happy, healthy family. Lastly, the conversation covers something close to Art & Matilda’s own heart which is regenerative farming and supporting local farmers who are selling organic produce. Grant Schofield is Professor of Public Health, and Director of the Human Potential Centre at AUT Millennium. His research and teaching interests range from understanding and improving lifestyle behaviours such as sleep, nutrition, and physical activity, to wellbeing epidemiology and human performance. He maintains a "multi fluency” across psychology, physiology, public health, epidemiology, and human performance. Professor Schofield takes a "think outside the box" approach to his work in tackling the big health problems of our times. He is known for challenging current beliefs in his field. His current project base and large group of talented postgraduate thesis students show an exciting range of these challenges. Dr Caryn Zinn is a dietitian and academic at AUT. Her research and clinical practice focuses on whole food amidst a holistic lifestyle approach to health. She has co-authored 4 books as part of the What The Fat? Series. To say that Grant and Caryn know their stuff is a bit of an understatement. In this episode Art & Matilda deep dive into nutrition with Grant and Caryn sharing what they have learnt (and unlearnt) throughout their careers. From the low fat farce, keto cowboys, fasting, veganism and functional food for medicine to the credibility of some ‘scientific’ studies and the importance of researching beyond the headlines. We cover some really interesting topics safe in the hands of academics who have the credentials to back up their claims. From our TV screens from “The Bachelor NZ” we fell in love straight away with these two and now they have a following over 290k combined on Instagram and Facebook. The two of them have many businesses and projects under their belt we can’t keep up! From Art starting out with Clean Paleo with his bestie and now working alongside partner Matilda on their very own paleo business “Plate Up”. Matilda has recently finished up a hosting project with “Heartbreak Island” and has published her very own book! “The Lazy Girls Guide to Living a Beautiful Life”. When they’re not doing the mahi they are inspiring others to just be themselves and not take life too seriously through their social media accounts #keepinitreal. On this episode we dive into the background of Art & Matilda, learn about paleo, meditation, training and also how has social media affected their lives now. Also, a few laughs along the way with Art deciding that he loves one of his cats more than the other.. Poor Brian
