In which Gray discusses his newest thriller, FLIGHT OF THE FOX, genre-hopping and genre-mixing, his work-in-progress which frankly sounds to the host like it will kick The Da Vinci Code's ass, writing fiction with some history in it (some of it even true), the demise of true news reporting in the American media, and why he has never used an emoji in his life.
Critically acclaimed author, Gray Basnight is a good friend of mine and a former co-worker in NYC News Radio. His new novel, "Flight of the Fox" is a fascinating "run for your life" thriller that tells the story of College professor Sam Teagarden, who stumbles upon a decades-old government cover-up when an encoded document mysteriously lands in his in-box, followed by a cluster of mini-drones programmed to kill him. Gray and I talk about his writing career, legalization of Marijuana, the current state of affairs throughout the world and more! Gray Basnight and Mike DeSanto met at George Washington University in the 1970s where they were studying theatre. Now, 40 years later, Gray is a published author based in NYC and Mike owns Phoenix Books here in Burlington. Like Gray’s new book, Flight of the Fox, we discuss American History from the formation of the FBI to Vietnam to 9/11. Basnight will be making an appearance at Phoenix on Thursday, September 13.
We talk to Gray Basnight about his thriller where the math genius is the star. Mike Scardino tells us about the summers he spent working on a New York City ambulance. And we wrap up our beach read series with Mary Kay Andrews.
