4 Dads For Dads Podcast

The guys go by the seat of the pants without an outline this week to celebrate having a full crew (thanks Sarah!). Things start off well enough with a discussion about things that are NOT missed during this ongoing pandemic, but things then take a turn into the hot take realm as a heated debate ensues revolving around the merits of Mulan vs. Hercules as Disney classics. If you "can go the distance," the guys also touch on some funny mask alternatives that we've seen over the past several weeks while out in public.

Bobo sits out this week with new dad duties, so Shane, Chris and Dan talk about some of the transitions that await him that they've all gone through as parents. These include transitions with food and with nighttime routines followed by a glimpse into some of the transitions that each are looking forward to. Also, Shane makes an incorrect reference to an old car company slogan that Dan just won't let go and the guys touch on what the worst possible foods to start your kids off with eating would be.

BABY FITZ IS HERE! Chris and Shane interview the new old Dad of the crew with a check-in on how Bobo, Sarah and the Bobrowski clan are doing with the new baby. Being in the hospital during a pandemic, bringing home a third child and the feelings that go into having his first boy are all talked about this week. Also - Shane shares a messy story about quarantine haircuts and the guys end with some heartfelt Mothers' Day thoughts

The boys - along with the rest of the country - are still quarantined, but that's not stopping them from throwing Bobo a 4DadsForDads Podcast Baby Shower. The guys have some fun with a Baby Shower Trivia Game before talking a bit more seriously about some of the things ahead of Bobo as he and the family are about to welcome their new addition to the family.

Day #27392341 of Quarantine...OK...not really. But the guys chat this week about some of the things that they've resorted to during their downtime during this strange can't-leave-the-house period. Categories include movies, TV shows, rewatching old sporting events, drinks and books that they have indulged in during their downtime over the past several weeks. Not much in the way of "parenting advice" on this week's episode outside of discussing some of the ways that they have kept themselves sane without getting too stir crazy. Also, Bobo has a hot take on a popular restaurant appetizer. They haven't talked about food in a while, so this topic is due.

IT'S DRAFT DAY!!! After taking a week off, the guys return this week with a quick pulse check to see how the group is doing during the ongoing pandemic/quarantine before jumping into the first ever(and hopefully last) Quarantine Draft. The Dads go through a snake draft centered around the things we currently miss during this quarantine that includes the following categories: sports, restaurants, places to go, hobby, special occasions and a wild card. Hilarity and innuendos ensue.

The guys have been cooped up for nearly two weeks and it's starting to show. This week's Pod features a dive into some of the unexpected positives in "dad-life" during this pandemic, some of the not-so-great parenting happenings during our lockdown and an intriguing discussion on some of the long-term ramifications. Also, the last 20 minutes get pretty silly, which includes an incredible story from Chris that is going to make every listener strongly question his decision making.

No frills this week. It's been a crazy week for everyone, so the guys just want to check in, see how everyone is doing and discuss what life has been like over this past week during the COVID-19 pandemic. The gang discusses working from home, how they're entertaining the kids while cooped up in the house and some of the day-to-day changes that they've been dealing with over the past week.

Dan, Chris and Bobo take the reins with Shane out this week and delve into the topic of being a #girldad. The guys cover several topics this week, which includes a deep dive into an iconic "dadding" scene from a classic movie from the early 2000's, some discussion around the willingness for dads to throw themselves into "girly" activities and some of the more special parts of the bond that exists between a father and his daughter.

IT'S MAILBAG TIME! Bobo serves as the MC this week as the guys turn this week's show outline over to the listeners by answering mailbag questions. Talking points range from BBQ side dishes, ways to soothe an upset child, bath time shenanigans and what to do when your children "test your gangster." Lighter episode this week that allowed the guys to listen to those who have been listening to the show for the last several months. Also, a new show segment called #WouldYourRather also makes its debut on the pod.

The guys welcome back Chris from a week-long hiatus and wrap up the "Discipline Daddies" series. The guys touch on the topics of nutrition and education before jumping into a very intriguing mailbag question that brings up the touchy topic of disciplining other people's children. This leads to quite a bit of healthy discussion and the first significant disagreement of philosophies we've seen on the Pod. Other highlights include: a discussion around airplane etiquette, a history lesson that combines basketball and politics, and a bit of prep for next week's all-Mailbag episode.

Part 2 of the Discipline Daddies series finds the guys short one dad with Shane, Dan and Bobo taking on the topic of discipline when comparing what happened during their childhood with some of the ways they look at parenting now. The fellas break down some of their thoughts on spankings and public displays of disciplines as well as looking at the differences between generations and their discipline techniques. Also, the guys answer their first Twitter mailbag question in which they compare the challenges of caring for a newborn vs. a one-year-old

The guys have gone through the preparation and early stages of fatherhood throughout the first month and a half of 2020 and now they're diving into discipline. What was supposed to be a one-off episode is now being stretched out over a few different pods. This week, they go in-depth on the different dynamics in the household for disciplining your kids. Is it good cop, bad cop? Are both parents on the same page when it comes to discipline? What are some of the challenges that cause your kids to respond differently to each parent? These are just some of the questions discussed on the show. Also - today's mailbag takes a different approach where we answer for a question for a listener who is looking for feedback for thinking about NOT having kids.

The guys wrap up the Journey to Fatherhood series with some advice. You've heard over the past several weeks some of the specifics on each of their stories leading up to and during the birth, but now it's time for the fellas to share some of the real and actionable wisdom that they learned on the fly. Great listen for anyone expecting or preparing for becoming a new dad. Other episode highlights: Chris shares his passion for soup, Shane may or may not be a secret baby formula/Ziploc lobbyist and Dan shares a great selfie-inspired history lesson. Bobo moderates this week and - despite being under the weather - turns his Dad joke game up to 11.

"Alright...so what now?" That's a question that a lot of new dads find themselves asking right after welcoming their first child into the world and the guys dive into their experiences in the immediate aftermath of the birth - both in the hospital and at home. Also, this week's mailbag is particularly divisive. SPOILER ALERT: Chris is wrong.

Special episode. The tragedy that occurred this Sunday resulting in the loss of 9 lives, including 3 young children and their parents really hit deep with us. As huge basketball fans who grew up watching Kobe Bryant, that became fathers, we felt the best way to get our feelings out would be to record a totally unscripted, raw, and emotional episode. Sparked by a mailbag question from a loyal listener: “What is your biggest fear for your children as they grow up”

The 4DadsForDads Podcast kicks off 2020 with a January series. A lot of the feedback we got once we kicked off was people looking for content for new parents, or those wanting to become parents so we listened. Since we have 4 weeks left in January, we will take each week to walk through some of the things new fathers will encounter. We start with the kick-off stage. We skipped the question what made you want kids. That was easy- we all want em. But we tackle the questions of "why now?" and "what is that process like?" It certainly has its ups and downs.
