We are loving season two of Jury Duty, Company Retreat, and we talk about how the show does an amazing job at casting their unsuspecting foils. Susie has an update on the anal bead scandal that rocked the chess world, and why it turns out the rumor has an unlikely origin. We celebrate the incredible Artemis II crew, and their incredible mission to space (and also how hot they all are). We discuss the Moriah Wilson documentary about the murder of the gravel cyclist by a jealous woman, and how we never get sick of analyzing the unhinged behavior of sociopaths. Scientists were able to watch a sperm whale birth, and made some shocking revelations about how it happens, why it's similar to humans, and why it was a mystery until now. We find out about a surprising trick to keeping seagulls away from your food that scholars recently discovered.00:00 - Kicking Off the Episode with Golden Girls Dreams04:39 - Unpacking the Genius Casting of Jury Duty's Company Retreat20:50 - Balancing Hormones with Veracity Cortisol Calming Supplement & Celebrating the Hot and Humble Artemis Il Crew27:50 - Analyzing Sociopathic Behavior in the Moriah Wilson Murder34:23 - Shocking Revelations from the First Observed Sperm Whale Birth43:23 - Squarespace: Your All-in-One Platform for Online Presence45:04 - Navigating Relationship Gaps with Disney Adults and Fandoms55:51 - The Surprising Trick to Keeping Seagulls Away from Food01:01:56 - Episode Recap and Effortless Style with Stitch FixBrain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:For up to 65% off your order, head to https://veracityhealth.co and use code BRAINCANDYThis episode is sponsored by Betterhelp. As we continue our Cesarean Awareness Month series, CBAC and RCS moms, this one's for you. If your future birth looks like a subsequent cesarean, we want to make that cesarean the best, most peaceful, and empowering experience it can be. Better birth after cesarean means better options, and today's episode takes a deep dive into the option of Maternal Assisted Cesareans (MAC). We are joined today by Dr. Koen Deurloo from the Netherlands. Dr. Koen is a Dutch OB/GYN specializing in perinatology and family-centered cesarean birth. Since 2017, his team has performed more than 300 Maternal Assisted Cesareans, developing one of the most experience-based approaches to this technique. He is also the author of Door de ogen van een gynaecoloog and teaches widely on respectful, trauma-informed birth care. His work focuses on creating transparency and calm so parents feel genuinely involved and supported throughout the entire process, especially in the operating room. In this episode, Dr. Koen walks us through how he was first introduced to the MAC (spoiler: it was a mom and her doula!), how the procedure has evolved over time, what his patients have to say about it (another spoiler: 100% recommend it), and how to advocate for this kind of experience with your provider.Birth after cesarean deserves dignity. It deserves options, and it deserves finding a provider who holds your stories with care and who speaks about birth the way Dr. Koen does.We PROMISE this is an episode you will not want to miss!!!Women of strength, we know how difficult it can be to choose between going for a VBAC, pivoting to a CBAC, or scheduling a repeat cesarean. Whether for medical or personal reasons, your choice is valid and good. There are so many brave ways to birth. Partners are often told to “be supportive” during pregnancy and birth- but what does that actually look like in practice? In this episode of Yoga | Birth | Babies, we explore how partners can move beyond simply being present to becoming truly engaged, attuned, and collaborative throughout the journey. Joined by doula and perinatal bodyworker Yiska Obadia, we unpack some of the most common misunderstandings partners have about their role, and why preparation as a team can make all the difference. Yiska shares how communication, self-awareness, and shared learning can help couples navigate labor with more connection and confidence-while also honoring that support looks different for every birthing person. This conversation offers a thoughtful, compassionate look at how partners can show up in ways that feel grounding rather than overwhelming, and how couples can have the important (and often overlooked) conversations before labor begins. Supreme Pressure: The Rejection of John J. Parker and the Birth of the Modern Supreme Court Confirmation Process (Palgrave Macmillan, 2025) examines the 1930 Supreme Court nomination of John J. Parker, a turning point in American judicial politics. Alarmed by some of his past statements and opinions, labor and civil rights groups mounted a fierce campaign to block his confirmation. Not only was control of the Supreme Court hanging in the balance, but Parker's nomination symbolized a profound clash of ideologies, political agendas, economic doctrines, and interpretations of the Constitution. Their efforts sparked a dramatic Senate revolt, marking the first successful grassroots campaign to block a Supreme Court nominee. By exploring the circumstances of Parker's rejection, this book traces how that battle laid the foundation for today's highly partisan and contentious confirmation process. The book also reintroduces Parker as a consequential but largely forgotten figure in American jurisprudence--one whose rulings helped shape the South's legal response to Brown v. Board of Education. Beyond the nomination fight, it delves into Parker's political campaigns, judicial opinions, and relationships with key public figures, charting his dramatic rise, humiliating defeat, and enduring influence. Packed with intrigue, strategy, and the clash of competing ideologies, this is the story of how one nomination forever changed the rules of the game. Learn more about your ad choices. Welcome back to another completely reasonable and definitely not unhinged episode of The Rizzuto Show — your favorite daily comedy podcast where normal conversations go to die.We kick things off with a debate that no one asked for but everyone now has to suffer through: would you rather watch your own birth once a year… or your parents conceiving you just one time in full detail? Yeah. It's exactly as uncomfortable as it sounds, and somehow the gang manages to make it worse with personal stories, questionable logic, and way too much curiosity about their dads. From there, things spiral (as they always do). Moon proudly reveals his suspiciously large collection of graphic tees, Rafe starts questioning his genetic legacy like he's in a documentary no one funded, and Lern casually drops childhood stories that explain… a lot. It's part therapy session, part roast, and 100% why this comedy podcast should probably come with a warning label. Then we shift gears into real-life chaos — including a near road rage incident that turns into a full-blown meltdown… all because of one perfectly executed crying face. Yes, that's apparently the nuclear option in traffic now. Meanwhile, Moon's kid experiences the classic “new driver mistake” (you know the one), and somehow it almost involves someone they actually know. Because of course it does.Oh, and just when you think things can't get more random, we say goodbye to a beloved St. Louis donut staple, debate the downfall of Panera like it's a corporate investigation, and hear one of the most stressful public bathroom stories ever told on a comedy podcast. Seriously — you'll never trust a push-button lock again. It's messy, it's ridiculous, and it's exactly what you signed up for. Or didn't. Either way, you're here now.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

4. THE BIRTH OF THE COUNTERTERRORISM CENTER Guest Liza Mundy: Guest Mundy details the mid-1980s creation of the Counterterrorism Center (CTC), an undesirable, basement-level office that few male officers wanted to staff,. Analysts like Cindy Storer and Barbara Sude began connecting disparate data points, identifying a mysterious Saudi financier named Osama bin Laden. Mundy highlights how these women built the foundation for tracking global jihadists while the agency's "James Bonds" remained focused on the Soviet Union,. Despite their growing expertise, these female analysts often struggled to have their voices heard or findings published within the agency's rigid, male-dominated hierarchy. (5)1956 Hungary

A gentle cesarean, also called a family-centered cesarean, involves adjustments that shift a cesarean from a standard surgical procedure to a more personal, connected birth experience. As cesarean births have become more common, the options available to you have expanded significantly. However, options only matter if you know they exist. If you do not know what you can ask for, you cannot advocate for it, especially when it comes to options that may not be part of your care provider's routine standard of care. This episode walks through every modification, from clear drapes and immediate skin-to-skin contact to a slower delivery and delayed cord clamping. We also take a deep dive into the rapidly evolving research on vaginal seeding and what it means for your baby's microbiome. Whether you are planning a cesarean or preparing a backup plan, understanding these options gives you the tools to advocate for the birth experience you want. The diagnosis of fetal growth restriction can be made with an isolated abdominal circumference less than the 90th percentile. So is the opposite true? Does a fetal abdominal circumference (isolated) of greater than 90% qualify for “LGA” fetus? In this episode we're going to explain why, although it is logically correct, it is diagnostically incorrect. An isolated abdominal circumference on ultrasound of greater than 90% is however a strong predictive risk factor for one delivery finding. Listen in for details.1. On this episode of the podcast, Amanda Head talks with Government Accountability Institute Director of Research and bestselling investigative author Seamus Bruner for a wide-ranging conversation on corruption, influence, immigration, and the growing forces shaping America from behind the scenes.Bruner reflects on his three books: Compromised, Fallout, and Controligarchs and explains how years of investigative reporting have led him to one central conclusion: the political class is often not the top of the pyramid. From FBI corruption and the revolving door of Washington insiders to the billionaire donor network influencing culture, policy, and everyday life, Bruner argues that Americans need to pay close attention to who is funding what and why.Head and Bruner also dive into one of the most alarming national security and immigration issues in the country today: birth tourism and the fight over birthright citizenship. Roughly 100,000 Chinese nationals are strategically birthed in America and without change, one day the United States could have a CCP-Influenced leader sitting in the Oval Office. Bruner breaks down how adversarial nations, particularly China, are allegedly exploiting this weakness in America's immigration system, why the issue is now tied to a major Supreme Court battle, and what is at stake if the loopholes remain open. You can follow Seamus, the Government Accountability Institute, Amanda Head, and this podcast exclusively on X by searching for the respective handles: @SeamusBruner, @Gov_Acct_Inst, @AmandaHead, @FurthermorePod.You can also purchase any (or all three) of his books on Amazon with this designated weblink: https://bit.ly/41YGqtnSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this episode, Kayleigh sits down with two best friends, Sam and Paige, whose lives became forever intertwined through shared birth trauma. What began as a friendship rooted in everyday life quickly transformed into something much deeper when both women experienced rare, life-threatening birth complications just months apart.Together, they open up about the shock, grief, and confusion of their experiences, the parts they remember (and the parts they don't), and the complex emotions that followed. Most importantly, they share what it means to have each other a person who truly gets it, in a space that can feel incredibly isolating. This episode is a testament to the power of connection, validation, and being seen in your hardest moments.
This week we're joined by our darling friend Olivia Allen; actress, producer, writer, and one half of the bestie duo behind The Broad Ideas pod with Rachel Bilson. This is a come-back-to-yourself kind of episode. We're talking full body yeses vs obligation energy, and learning how to trust what actually feels aligned. We dive into returning to your spiritual practices in seasons of chaos, plus human design, the teachings of Esther Hicks, signs from the universe, and intuition vs fear. We also touch on motherhood; having our hearts outside our bodies, how to reconcile that, and how to navigate it when intrusive thoughts start to creep in. There are also some strange (and slightly morbid) signs from the universe we attempt to unpack… plus a very cheeky journal throwback involving a certain list that has us questioning some teenage choices. The Supreme Court recently heard oral arguments on a very important case related to birthright citizenship. The Justices will decide whether an executive order can limit birthright citizenship, despite the court's past interpretation of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution ratified more than 150 years ago. Birth tourism reveals one example of many loopholes in the system, according to Peter Schweizer. An important issue to consider!
When we unite with Jesus Christ, his resurrection power comes into our lives. Even though we believe we'll be resurrected in our bodies at the end of time, there is already a spiritual resurrection that happens to us now. What does that look like? Looking at this text, we can see 1) what happened, 2) where it happens, 3) how it keeps happening, and 4) why it happens. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on May 4, 2014. Series: Following Jesus. Scripture: 1 Peter 1:3-12. Scientists recently published the first footage of a sperm whale birth, and it was a crowded ordeal. More than 10 other sperm whales were there for the delivery and helped keep the baby whale afloat—and not all of them were related to mom. How much do we actually understand whale culture? And how should we think about altruism in the animal kingdom? Host Flora Lichtman chats with whale biologist Shane Gero about what it was like to witness this birth and what it tells us about whale culture. Guest: Dr. Shane Gero is a whale biologist at Carleton University, founder of The Dominica Sperm Whale Project, and biology lead for Project CETI. He's based in Ottawa, Canada. What happens when your body decides to Marie Kondo your entire large intestine, but the healthcare system treats your "vestibule" like an optional extra? This week we sit down with Emily. At 23, she went from a "healthy" young woman to shitting blood 20 times a day which eventually led to living life with a permanent Barbie butthole. But the real horror story isn't the Ulcerative Colitis diagnosis; it's what happens when you try to navigate a high-risk pregnancy in a system that compartmentalizes your "gut" from your "baby" until the two collide in a traumatic, 25-week micro-preemie delivery.
Preterm birth is something many parents worry about- but how much do we really understand about why it happens and how to prevent it? In this episode, we're joined by Dr. Laura Jelliffe-Pawlowski, a leading researcher in maternal and infant health, to explore how our understanding of preterm birth has evolved- and where the science is headed. We discuss what current research tells us about risk, screening, and prevention, including the evolving conversation around progesterone and what it means for patients today. Dr. Jelliffe-Pawlowski also shares insights into emerging tools and biomarkers that may help identify risk earlier, as well as the broader environmental, social, and systemic factors that play a significant role in outcomes. This conversation offers both clarity and compassion- helping parents understand what is within their control, what isn't, and where the future of care is moving. If you’ve ever watched Top Chef, you may know Carla Hall and her signature catchphrase, Hootie Hoo! But Carla didn’t start her career in kitchens. Before she became a beloved TV personality and celebrated chef, Carla was a CPA at Price Waterhouse who quickly realized her destiny was not in spreadsheets. What followed was a series of bold, joy-fueled pivots: modeling in Paris, launching a lunch delivery service out of her kitchen, competing on Top Chef, co-hosting ABC's The Chew, and now taking the stage in her own one-woman show. Mental health is often treated like a guessing game, but what if we could actually see what's happening in the brain? In this episode, Dr. Steve Rondeau, founder of Axon EEG Solutions and author of Think Like a Brain, breaks down how brain-based data is changing the way we understand mental health, postpartum struggles, and behavior in both women and children. We dive into why traditional diagnoses often miss the root cause, how brain patterns shape your personality and responses, and why your environment plays a bigger role than you think. This conversation also explores a newly released study on hormonal birth control and antidepressant response, the concept of the “overwhelmed brain,” and how small shifts in your daily life can dramatically change your mental resilience. If you've ever felt like something is off but can't explain why, or wondered why one season of life feels manageable while another feels overwhelming, this episode will completely reframe how you think about your brain, your behavior, and your capacity.00:00 Intro 01:52 Why mental health is still a guessing game 03:40 The misdiagnosis that exposes a broken system 06:10 Can brain scans predict personality 09:30 Why people experience life differently 13:15 Birth control and antidepressant study 16:47 Why one-size-fits-all treatment fails 18:40 Why postpartum experiences vary 22:40 Your brain isn't broken your environment is 24:21 When symptoms don't match the diagnosis 26:40 The case that changed everything 29:10 Why root causes get missed 32:10 Are brain patterns genetic or learned 34:40 The 3 areas that shape mental health 37:40 Why you can't just push through 39:10 The overwhelmed brain pattern 42:10 The habit that regulates your nervous system 43:46 Why coping mechanisms make sense 46:40 Why normal brains don't exist 49:10 Parenting and relationships through this lens 53:10 What's normal behavior for kids 55:10 The parenting mistake most people make 58:10 Are screens rewiring our brains 61:10 How to find brain scan providers 73:31 Outro Resources From This Episode:Dr. Rondeau's Website - https://axoneegsolutions.com/Dr. Rondeau's Book: Think Like Brain Treating Manual - https://www.amazon.com/Think-Like-Brain-Treating-Manual-ebook/dp/B0GFXQK1DVFollow Dr. Steve Rondeau on Socials:Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/people/Dr-Steve-Rondeau/100068808602146/LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-steven-rondeau-148aa421/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/dr_rondeau_qeeg/Dr. Morgan's Pregnancy Call Lessons - https://milkmedicine.com/lessonsonly/Healthy As A Mother Podcast | YouTubeHealthy As A Mother Podcast | InstagramHealthy As A Mother Podcast | TikTokHealthy As A Mother Podcast | Merch StoreFind more from Dr. Leah:Dr. Leah Gordon | InstagramDr. Leah Gordon | WebsiteWomanhood Wellness | WebsiteFind more from Dr. Morgan:Dr. Morgan MacDermott | InstagramDr. Morgan MacDermott | WebsiteUse code HAAM and save 10% at FondUse code HEALTHYMOTHER and save 15% at RedmondFor 20% off your first order at Needed, use code HEALTHYMOTHERSave $260 at Lumebox, use code HEALTHYASAMOTHER
In this heartfelt episode, Debra Pascali-Bonaro welcomes author, mother, and doula Maris Young, whose third birth unfolded in the most surprising and beautiful way — as an orgasmic birth. After a breech birth with her second baby, Maris entered her third pregnancy with a clear intention: to reframe the sensations of birth and discover how pleasurable they could be. Through mindset work, daily practice, and integrating resources from Orgasmic Birth, Maris learned to welcome contractions as manifestations of her body's divine power. Her story takes us from quiet, candlelit labor at home — singing through each wave — to the moment her daughter was born and Maris felt a release so deeply joyful, she describes it as living on "cloud nine" for weeks afterward. Join Debra and Maris as they explore how preparation, presence, and curiosity can turn birth into a profoundly embodied experience of strength, connection, and pleasure. In this episode, you'll hear: How Maris shifted her mindset to welcome contractions as power. Why creating a sensory-filled environment mattered for her labor. How the words "I have full life" became her anchor through birth. What it felt like to experience orgasmic release as her daughter emerged. The ways Maris now supports others through her Young Honest Mother community and book Getting Ready for Birth. Learn more:

On this week's episode, The Imprint's Nancy Marie Spears sits down with reporter Suzette Brewer to discuss her recent two-part series on the tragic past and promising future of birth justice for the Native American community. The series examines the use of sterilization on Indigenous women, a practice many believe was intended to facilitate the dying out of tribes, and the more recent efforts to build a birth justice movement in the Native American community. Spears and Brewer discuss how the series came together over the course of a decade and what Brewer discovered. They also had time to chat about their reporter careers and the Indian Child Welfare Act.Suzette Brewer is a journalist specializing in federal Indian law and social justice, with a focus on issues affecting Native women and children. The mother wound is not just about your mother. It is about the first nervous system that shaped yours—the earliest relational field that told you whether you were safe, wanted, and free to take up space. And it lives in the body long before it lives in the story. In this episode, Jennifer Wallace and Elisabeth Kristof are joined by Brooke Wolfe, somatic voice activation coach, musician of 20 years, and a dear friend of both hosts. Brooke's work lives at the intersection of nervous system safety, vocal expression, and the parts of the feminine that have been suppressed, exiled, and told they are too much. Together, they explore the mother wound as an attachment and nervous system imprint—one that shows up not just in relationships, but in how you breathe, how you move, whether you feel permission to make noise, and whether you have ever truly learned to receive. Brooke brings a perspective that is both poetic and grounded. She shares the pelvis–throat connection as a place where early disconnection shows up physically, how the voice becomes a tool for masking rather than connecting, and how her lifelong asthma reflected a nervous system that never felt safe to exhale. She also speaks to how heroin use in her teenage years neurologically mirrored the flooding and crashing of disorganized attachment. Elisabeth shares how emotional neglect and a mother's absence shaped a deep sense of childhood loneliness, and why co-regulation with other humans became genuinely difficult. Jennifer names the fear of her own power, the experience of moving through life in a quiet tiptoe, and the inner critic that still carries someone else's voice. This conversation expands the mother wound beyond the personal and into the collective—naming how disconnection from the body, voice, and feminine expression is not just individual, but patterned across generations. The episode closes on something both honest and hopeful: healing the mother wound does not always require repairing the external relationship. It requires taking your sovereignty back, learning to mother yourself, and finding the safe spaces and relationships that can hold your depth. What was ruptured in relationship must be repaired in relationship—and sometimes that begins with the earth. In This Episode, You Will Learn: How the mother wound forms as an attachment and nervous system imprint, not a single event but a pattern How prenatal maternal stress can shape fetal stress system development through cortisol and epigenetic mechanisms Why birth is the first moment of separation and how birth trauma shapes early nervous system patterns How rupture in the feminine shows up in the body, the breath, the pelvis, the throat, and the voice Why the voice so often becomes a tool for masking rather than connecting, and how somatic voice work can change that How disorganized attachment patterns in childhood can drive substance use and self-regulation strategies in adolescence and adulthood Why co-regulation with other humans can feel deeply threatening and how to begin building that skill incrementally How the inner critic often carries the voice of a primary caregiver, and what that means neurologically What it looks like to heal the mother wound internally without requiring external repair of the relationship Why the fertile void, the emptiness left by the wound, can become a creative source rather than something to fill Chapter Markers 0:00 - Sending Healing Back Down the Mother Line 1:45 - Welcome: The Mother Wound as Nervous System Imprint 4:00 - Introducing Brooke Wolfe and Why This Work Called Her 7:45 - How Rupture in the Feminine Shows Up in the Body and Voice 13:00 - Birth as the First Separation and the Roots of the Wound 18:00 - Prenatal Stress, Cortisol, and How the Stress System Is Shaped Before Birth 20:00 - The Pelvis, Throat, and Diaphragm: Where Bracing Patterns Live 27:00 - Don't Take Up Space, Don't Be Too Much: The Feminine Conditioning 33:00 - Attachment, Addiction, and the Nervous System Logic Behind It All 49:00 - The Void: What Brooke's Mother Wound Actually Is, and What She Found There 55:00 - The Inner Critic as Internalized Mother Voice 1:01:00 - Healing the Mother Wound From the Inside Out Explore Neurosomatic Voice Activation: Liberate your voice and create somatic safety and self-attunement in the Neurosomatic Voice Activation Course with Brooke and Elisabeth: https://www.brookewolfe.com/trauma-rewired Get 15% off with code: TRAUMAREWIRED Brooke on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brookewolfe_/ Ways to Engage with Neurosomatics: Capacity Gap: Free BrainBased workshop for entrepreneurs, leaders and high-performers: rewirecapacity.com Two week trail of BrainBased membership for neurosomatic practices and nervous system rehabilitation and health: rewiretrial.com Introduction to NSI for practitioners, coaches and therapists - The NSI foundations Bundle: https://neurosomaticintelligence.com/workshops/ Watch Trauma Rewired on YouTube - Subscribe here Learn more about psychedelic neuroscience and neurosomatics on Sacred Synapse with Jennifer Wallace https://www.youtube.com/@sacredsynapse-23 Wayfinder Journal: Track nervous system patterns and support preparation and integration through Neurosomatic Intelligence. 8. The Glorious Revolution and the Protestant Succession Guest Author: Jonathan Healey The century concluded with the reign of James II, whose open Catholicism and attempts to bypass Parliament sparked the Exclusion Crisis and the birth of the Whig and Tory parties. When James produced a Catholic heir in 1688, fearful Protestant leaders invited William of Orange to intervene. William landed on November 5th, leading James to flee to France. The resulting Glorious Revolution established William and Mary as joint monarchs, finalizing a century of upheaval. Healey argues these events provided the constitutional arguments—such as representation and the rights of the governed—that would later inspire the American founders. (8)1655 J. VAN DER AEK
2. Turkel recounts his 1970 birth in a Chinese re-education camp, illustrating that Uyghur persecution is a long-standing continuum. M People star Andrew Lovell's home life hid a terrible – yet beautiful – secret. It would take him decades to find out the truth. At the height of his fame, drummer Andrew ‘Shovell' Lovell had everything he'd dreamed of: sex, drugs and regular appearances at the top of the charts with the dance music band M People. But sell-out shows, first-class travel and five-star hotels couldn't stop the questions gnawing away at him. As a mixed-race kid growing up in a white family in south London he wanted to know: who were his birth parents? Why had they given him up?
