The codependency is often interpreted as love. When our1.) Mood,2.) Happiness,3.) and Identity, depend on our darling we are codependent. “When we are no longer independent from our partner then we are in slavery. And Slavery is never love.” Bhagwan/OshoAnd this happens quite often in our first love. - We want to experience our symbiosis like a baby to a mother with our darling.Because we have that deep longing for love and for a symbiosis! When we (my twin brother and me) were born, my mother had infectious jaundice, and we stayed in Quarantine for over 3 months in a big hall separated from other babies. We could never experience this symbiosis with our mother; our mother didn't want us, and my oldest sister hated me. We had to struggle to approach girls in the puberty. And it went worse and worse… Until I (with 25years) decided to go to groups organized from devotees of Bhagwan. Because I had such a longing for love and the symbiosis. When I was in love, I depended so much on the presence of my darling. Without my darling, I felt incomplete, alone and was afraid to lose her. Still, I had to function normally. Bhagwan/Osho recommended for codependency to make meditation and body and feelings orientated therapy like:1.) Bioenergetic, 2.) Encounter,3.) Primal, 4.) Tantra. Together with meditation, we become free and independent. And this worked out also for me. Bhagwan/Osho taught love is only possible:1.) When both are independent. 2.) That we give our partner total freedom to do whatever he/she wants.3.) That we never want to control our partner.3.) Jealousy is the opposite of love.4.) We accept and love our partner as he/she is.5.) We accept all of our partner's emotions.6.) We get rid of the fear to lose our partner.7.) We learn to love ourselves.8.) We forgive us and our partner. I recommend Partnership exercises:1.) We chose for a particular time one is the slave the other is the master… To find out what our partner wants.2.) To make tantra and other sexual games.3.) We change our gender for a time to experience how it is to be the opposite sex. As of today, over 600 cases of measles have been reported across 22 states — the largest outbreak the U.S. has seen in more than a decade. Health experts say a combination of factors is driving the surge: increased international travel, communities with low vaccination rates and misinformation that continues to undermine public trust in vaccines. Measles is one of the most contagious diseases in the world. It spreads quickly, especially among those who aren't vaccinated for it. It can lead to severe symptoms, especially for children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. So how worried should we be here in Minnesota? How prepared is our public health system to respond if cases rise in our state? And what can we do as a community to stop the spread? MPR News host Angela Davis talks with a doctor and a state epidemiologist who specialize in infectious diseases and pediatrics. They'll break down what's happening nationally and what Minnesota is doing to stay ahead of the curve.Guests: Dr. Stacene Maroushek is a pediatrician and pediatric infectious disease specialist at Hennepin Healthcare. She is also a pediatric consultant to the Center for Disease Control's Division of Global Migration and Quarantine. Dr. Ruth Lynfield is state epidemiologist and medical director at the Minnesota Department of Health where she is also co-principal investigator of the Minnesota Emerging Infections Program.

Who remembers what life felt like during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, when cities and entire countries were shutting down right and left? Believe it or not, it all started five years ago this month! So we are digging back into our archives to bring you episodes from that momentous time all month long. On this episode, which originally aired on April 5th 2020, we ask our listeners: What does a day in the life of someone under lockdown look like? And they responded, offering a peek into their lives throughout the course of a day. We also offer our own. From Lynn in San Francisco as she studies Italian to Scott trying to find some space for himself in his basement, from Madeline in Menlo Park remembering to be thankful to best-selling author Jess Walter who is very used to working from home. From Nancy in Wisconsin dealing with spring snowfall to Theresa in Port Townsend in a hailstorm to Jill in Manhattan, where the only sound on the city streets is the chirping of birds, and many, many others. We got so many glimpses into the lives of our diverse listeners that we had to divide this episode into two parts. But don't fret—the second part is available here. ***The Bittersweet Life podcast has been on the air for an impressive 10+ years! Season 6 Episode 13: Sight Unseen Okay, so, the gang find a big bug zapper on a planet. They come back, Jonas starts seeing CGI bugs everywhere (not everywhere, like TWO of them). The rest of the gang gaslight his ass, forgetting about the three episodes before where this same thing happened. Long story short, Colorado Springs gets put on a half-assed Quarantine, O'Neil fights with a veteran, said veteran's grandma gets gaslit by Carter and Jonas, Carter and Jonas figure out how to stop this not delusion-delusion, Carter takes credit for Jonas's work, and that's all she said, thank you very much. ----more---- 00:00 - Intro 6:17 - 24 Seconds 9:50 - Episode Debrief 1:12:26 - Were We Comforted 1:13:54 - Yeh Neh or Meh 1:16:33 - Next Episode 1:18:40 - ComeTrya 1:22:05 - Get To Know Your Hosts 1:26:46 - Outro

Approximately 5 years ago, huge portions of the worlds population walked into their homes and locked the doors behind them. We waved at loved ones through windows, donned our masks, hoarded our toilet paper and used Clorox wipes on everything, including containers of Clorox wipes. We were all trying desperately to avoid Covid, which many of us got anyway and most of us have gotten since. It was a strange and sad time for the world but it was when our little podcast got some of the most fascinating stories we've ever heard. This week, Haunted AF is recognizing this difficult anniversary by revisiting some of our favorites from the very first weeks of lockdown. They aren't all scary, but they were definitely a way to feel connected while we were isolated.
Five years ago, on March 19th, the Governor issued the stay at home order California needed to survive the Covid pandemic. Covid changed our lives. Some of those changes, like Zoom, are here to stay. Assembly Democrats legislative initiatives helped Californians survive the pandemic. On this episode we look back at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic and talk with current lawmakers, including Assemblymember Dr. Darshana Patel, about their personal Covid stories, how it changed the way the legislature works and what needs to be done to prevent another pandemic.

On this episode, Jamie West tells us about a scandal in 1882 with the Lexington City Physician. J.C. Harpham, as city physician, was required to attend the patients living in the smallpox hospital on the outskirts of town. It quickly came out that he was, in fact, only pretending to go visit the patients. He was replaced immediately, and he and his family left Lexington under a cloud of scandal. The research for this episode was done by Sarah Hubbard, Kentucky Room Manager.

Over this past year, we quietly went back to where we began this podcast and worked on revising our Intro Series, "Stuff You Should Know." We updated the original episodes quietly in September. When we started thinking about what we wanted to release for the end of 2024, we feel like nothing encapsulates how we've grown as podcasters and scholars over the past four years better than these revised episodes, so we wanted to revisit them and share these episodes again. -- This is Part 2 of our intro series “Stuff You Should Know,” which covers some background and context into the life and times of Shakespeare, because art isn't created in a vacuum. In this episode, we'll be covering some basic information about early modern England during the Elizabethan and Jacobean eras. And when we say basic, we mean basic. This is a quick overview of early modern England, more importantly the England that influenced Shakespeare. In this episode, we'll be covering some basic information about the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods, as well as the public theatres during those respective eras. We'll review how the transition from feudalism to mercantilism changed English society and discuss facets of early modern English society such as fashion, social mobility, religious freedom, and public health. We will give an overview the history of the public theatre in England and discuss some key features of what theatre-making was like for Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Subscriber-only episodeIn today's episode, I'm joined by the incredible Daniel Roytas, a Naturopath and author of the eye-opening book *Can You Catch A Cold?* We're diving deep into some huge questions that have been swirling around since 2020—the kind that make you stop and go, *Wait… what's really going on here?* We're unpacking contagion theory, germ theory, and that big question: Can you actually pass on or catch a disease from someone else? Plus, we dig into the existence of viruses and whether the science behind virology stands up to scientific scrutiny. Here's the thing—Daniel isn't here to tell you what to think. He's laying out the scientific evidence so you can make up your own mind about what these theories really mean. As we continue with God’s promises, this is one that I have heard all my life, but He has just recently shone new light and application for me. This promise in my life has been super practical and holds a measure of accountability for me. I pray this verse often.
Filmmaker and comedian Matthew Highton remembers when Red Dwarf set the agenda for all playground conversations. And he certainly brings his A game to this chat, sharing so much of what he loves about the show - from the fantastic model work, to the endlessly entertaining relationship between Lister and Rimmer. What's more, he gives us not one but three approaches to a fantasy re-cast. His insight into the links between comedy and horror is also on point… which leads us neatly to…Our discussion of series 5 episode 4 - which happens to be Matt's favourite episode! It is, as he says, a densely packed, incredible piece of work. We shine our hex vision onto so much great stuff - from very special effects, to the iconic Mr Flibble, and from amazing sci-fi ideas to beautifully crafted punchlines. Is it peak Dwarf? It may well be. We're certainly quite, quite madly in love with Quarantine. JP Morrison Lans decided to grow up to be an artist while visiting the Carole Laroche Gallery in Santa Fe New Mexico when she was eleven years old. Five years later the Tulsa Artist Coalition supported this dream for her when she was accepted for her first solo exhibition. Since then she has earned her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute, co-owner a gallery, had her work purchased for the permanent collection of the Bundaberg Regional Gallery in Queensland Australia where she lived for two years and created immersive art installations for AHHA Tulsa, the Living Arts New Genre Festival, and the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition. Morrison Lans has shows her work with M.A. Doran Gallery, Tulsa; Heron Arts, San Francisco; Keep Contemporary, Santa Fe; and 19 Karen, Gold Coast, Australia. She has been a resident artist at SVA, NY., Truro Art Center, MA., Rockland Woods, WA., the Vermont Studio Center and Quarantine in Menorca, Spain. Morrison Lans is a member of the international artist collective Teleportal.Gallery and is an inaugural member of the NYC Crit Club's Canopy Program. She and her child can typically be found experimenting with encaustic and lego, respectively, from their home studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma.Statement:I explore the relationship of body and psyche by combining figurative realism, symbolic objects and intuitive abstraction. These collected elements are metaphors for my experience of womanhood, motherhood, love, loss, self-preservation, panic, desire, and knowing. Through layers of color pencil I create translucent skin. The addition of gouache and encaustic allows me to comb sheens and dimensional shapes around my drawing, forming membranes and isolated objects which express the subject's emotional escapades. Often I use orientation dissonance –the inversion of the figure– to symbolize circumspection, surrender, gestation, and metamorphosis. I render hands frequently, they represent intention and action, also the mouth, tongue and teeth as gateways between the inner self and outer world. Through taste and touch, we experience intimacy and desire. This anatomy creates boundaries while also being an entry point. My work invites you to experience this same push pull of entering and observing from a distance.
Episode 9: Have you ever needed God’s comfort? Of course. Have you ever looked at him as you do your mother? Your mother is the nourisher, constant cheerleader, and comforter. God is the ultimate version of all of those things. Rely on him.

One of Australia's most haunted locations sits in the same harbor as one of the country's most visited landmarks. Across the bay from the Opera House lies the remnants of the oldest and longest running Quarantine station in Oz's history. Over 500 people lost their lives here, and its long been said several of them have never left. We love our National Parks and we know you do too but when you're out there, remember to enjoy the view but watch your back. "Engrossing...hard to put down."—The New York Times Book Review“Frostbite is a perfectly executed cold fusion of science, history, and literary verve . . . as a fellow nonfiction writer, I bow down. This is how it's done.”—Mary Roach, author of Fuzz and StiffAn engaging and far-reaching exploration of refrigeration, tracing its evolution from scientific mystery to globe-spanning infrastructure, and an essential investigation into how it has remade our entire relationship with food—for better and for worseHow often do we open the fridge or peer into the freezer with the expectation that we'll find something fresh and ready to eat? It's an everyday act—but just a century ago, eating food that had been refrigerated was cause for both fear and excitement. The introduction of artificial refrigeration overturned millennia of dietary history, launching a new chapter in human nutrition. We could now overcome not just rot, but seasonality and geography. Tomatoes in January? Avocados in Shanghai? All possible. In Frostbite, New Yorker contributor and cohost of the award-winning podcast Gastropod Nicola Twilley takes listeners on a tour of the cold chain from farm to fridge, visiting off-the-beaten-path landmarks such as Missouri's subterranean cheese caves, the banana-ripening rooms of New York City, and the vast refrigerated tanks that store the nation's orange juice reserves. Today, nearly three-quarters of everything on the average American plate is processed, shipped, stored, and sold under refrigeration. It's impossible to make sense of our food system without understanding the all-but-invisible network of thermal control that underpins it. Twilley's eye-opening book is the first to reveal the transformative impact refrigeration has had on our health and our guts; our farms, tables, kitchens, and cities; global economics and politics; and even our environment. In the developed world, we've reaped the benefits of refrigeration for more than a century, but the costs are catching up with us. We've eroded our connection to our food and redefined what “fresh” means. More important, refrigeration is one of the leading contributors to climate change. As the developing world races to build a US-style cold chain, Twilley asks: Can we reduce our dependence on refrigeration? Should we? A deeply researched and reported, original, and entertaining dive into the most important invention in the history of food and drink, Frostbite makes the case for a recalibration of our relationship with the fridge—and how our future might depend on it.Nicola Twilley* is author of Frostbite: How Refrigeration Changed Our Food, Our Planet, and Ourselves (Penguin Press, June 2024), and co-host of the award-winning Gastropod podcast, which looks at food through the lens of history and science, and which is part of the Vox Media Podcast Network in partnership with Eater. Her first book, Until Proven Safe: The History and Future of Quarantine, was co-authored with Geoff Manaugh and was named one of the best books of 2021 by Time Magazine, NPR, the Guardian, and the Financial Times. She is a contributing writer at The New Yorker and the author of Edible Geography.
