Hear the unique perspective of a Russian woman who worked for the US Embassy in her home country for more than twenty years.  Yulia helped create and run US cultural outreach programs in the Ural Mountains, hosted bluegrass bands like the Henhouse Prowlers and became a conduit of communication between two cultures that have historically struggled to find common ground.

This weeks episode is with a Rwandan man that plays an ancient instrument and strives to conserve the musical tradition of his country.   Hear about his thoughts on why music conservation is so important and why you should think more of Rwanda than just the genocide.

Episode 1 is an interview with Dubai based performer Vijit Malik, an accomplished musician, as well as a lover of the Grateful Dead, Hindustani, and bluegrass music.  Vijit talks about his experience growing up in New Delhi, the connections between Indian and some American musics and what it's like to perform in a country where 'popular' music may not be as common as it is in other parts of the world.
