As 2025 comes to a close, I'm not winding down - I'm winding up. In this episode I share why this has been the year I've felt deeply gratified and truly rich inside myself, and why I refuse to end the year in disappointment, resignation, or “next year will be better” energy. I also announce The Golden Mile 2025 → 2026 Immersion: a special 2 month 1:1 immersion that can only be purchased in December. This immersion is designed to walk you through the final stretch of 2025 and across the threshold into 2026 in miracle frequency, deep satisfaction, and anchored leadership. Inside the episode, I speak from my own embodiment about: The creative potency of December & January and why I choose to end the year feeling profoundly gratified, not regretful The role of pressure and tension in the creative cycle and how holding it (without collapsing into fear) births new timelines Three doorways of The Golden Mile Immersion: The Miracle Breakthrough Doorway - for those who haven't yet experienced the miracle they've been walking toward The Wisdom & Leadership Harvest Doorway - for those who know their leadership has a “use by” date in its current form and are ready to bring the wealth of their wisdom into the world in new ways The Spirit Embodied Identity Doorway – for those who know they are here to anoint the world with love and live as a pure channel of their spirit Why some miracles don't look like what our human wanted, including the story of my son's passing and the awakening that followed If you feel the potency of this season and you know you're capable of so much more – not because you're “not enough”, but because of the enormity of your heart, your wisdom and your devotion to love – the Golden Mile may be for you.
Hello, hello and welcome back to Greedy Bitch, the podcast for groomers who are done apologizing for wanting more. I'm your host, River Lee, founder of The Savvy Groomer — and if you're listening to this while staring at a pile of towels, brushing out a doodle, or half-living on caffeine and leftover Halloween candy… breathe with me for a second. You did it. You made it through November — the month that feels like a tug-of-war between gratitude and grind. We just survived the “Turkey Month Trifecta” — too many dogs, too many deadlines, and not nearly enough naps. Now we're staring down December — that magical, slightly unhinged season where everyone wants to be on your nice list while simultaneously acting like they belong on your naughty list. And before we dive headfirst into bows, Santa photos, and last-minute “just one more” calls, I want to pause and talk about something groomers rarely do this time of year: gratitude for ourselves. Because gratitude isn't just about your clients, your dogs, or your bookings. It's about appreciating how far you've come… and giving yourself permission to rest before the next round begins. So today, we're slowing down, taking stock, and getting real about what you're not bringing into December. You don't need to earn your rest. You've already earned it. Let's be honest — Thanksgiving gets all the hype for being the “season of gratitude,” but somewhere between the mashed potatoes and the matted doodles, most of us skipped right past it. We confuse gratitude with over-giving. We think, “I should be thankful, so I shouldn't complain. I should just push through. I should take one more client, work one more hour, or skip lunch again because — hey — at least I'm busy.” But that's not gratitude. That's burnout dressed up like Thanksgiving dinner. Gratitude isn't about ignoring your exhaustion — it's about acknowledging your effort. It's looking back at the chaos and saying, “Wow. I really did that.” You kept dogs safe. You kept clients happy. You kept your doors open, your shears sharp, and your sanity mostly intact. And if you're listening to this, that means you cared enough to keep growing — not just grooming. But here's the catch: you can't receive gratitude if you're running on empty. You can't enjoy the fruits of your labor if you're too tired to taste them. If your idea of celebrating a successful month is collapsing on the couch with take-out and scrolling through client messages you haven't answered yet… that's not success. That's survival. So let's change that. Let's talk about what it really looks like to move from grateful but exhausted to grateful and grounded. Here's what I want you to do — and yes, you can do this mentally while you groom. Think back on November. What worked? What made you proud? What left you feeling like, “That was worth it”? Maybe it was the way you handled a difficult client with calm confidence. Maybe it was finally saying “no” to that once-a-year emergency husky. Maybe it was enforcing your matting policy, or remembering to eat something green that wasn't a jolly rancher.. Now, let's look at the other side — the things that drained you. That moment when you felt resentful. That day you skipped lunch and snapped at your bather. That time you squeezed someone in “just this once” and immediately regretted it. We're not judging — we're observing. Reflection isn't about guilt; it's about data. You can't fix what you won't face. So if you noticed that your income didn't match your effort, that's not failure — that's a clue. If you noticed you're crankier with clients or shorter with your own pets at home, that's not shame — that's your body saying, “Hey, I'm done.” The best groomers aren't the busiest ones — they're the ones who listen when their energy talks back. So, what's your energy telling you right now? You know how we tell clients that matting doesn't magically go away — it only gets worse if you ignore it? Yeah, burnout's the same way. So before December starts, let's de-mat your mental space. Let's brush out what doesn't belong anymore. If you're holding onto guilt — let it go. If you're still obsessing about that one bad review or that one client you couldn't please — let it go. If you're still undercharging someone out of pity — please, for the love of your sanity, let. it. go. You are not a machine. You are not a holiday miracle worker. You are a human with limits — and that's a good thing. So here's what I want you to do this week: Pick one thing to release before December hits. Maybe it's dropping a red-flag client. Maybe it's removing one service that doesn't make sense anymore. Maybe it's giving yourself permission to close early one day a week. Whatever it is, write it down. Say it out loud. Because clarity creates calm. You can't be grateful if you're buried under guilt. You can't be present if you're running on panic. You deserve a version of success that doesn't require suffering. Let's talk about the thing groomers struggle with the most: rest. I know — even the word feels wrong in your mouth. We're a community built on hustle. We wear exhaustion like a badge of honor. But rest isn't laziness — it's maintenance. Think about your tools. You wouldn't groom a full day with dull blades or skip cleaning your tub because “there's no time.” So why do you treat your mind and body any different? Gratitude isn't just saying “thank you.” It's showing thank you — to yourself. You thank yourself by scheduling a break. You thank yourself by eating a real lunch instead of protein bars and promises. You thank yourself by closing your books when you said you would. Because when you rest, you come back sharper. Kinder. More creative. More you. And that version of you — calm, confident, and cared for — that's the one your clients, your dogs, and your business truly need. Now, before we wrap up, I want to remind you — gratitude and profit can coexist. In fact, they should. If you've been nodding along all month thinking, “I know I need to raise my prices, but I just feel guilty,” this is your sign. Gratitude for your clients doesn't mean charging less. It means running a business that will still exist next year so you can keep serving them. If you haven't yet, go check out the Price Increase Masterclass at SavvyGroomer.com/PIMC It's the step-by-step guide to figuring out exactly what to charge, how to communicate it without guilt, and how to handle any pushback like the pro you already are. Because you don't need to work harder — you just need to charge like someone who's already earned it. And friend, you have. Before we go, I want to leave you with this thought: You don't have to start December exhausted just because everyone else is. You can choose peace over pressure. Boundaries over burnout. Gratitude over guilt. Take a deep breath. Let it out. And say this with me: “I'm grateful for how far I've come. I honor my limits. My peace is profitable.” You've already done enough. You've already earned your rest. Now it's time to receive it. If today's episode hit home, share it with a fellow groomer who needs to hear that rest isn't failure — it's strategy. I highly suggest you check out our free Holiday Boundaries scripts and you can get that at SavvyGroomer.com/HolidayBoundaries And if you're ready to start the new year with confidence and clarity, grab your spot in the Price Increase Masterclass at SavvyGroomer.com/PIMC Until next time — stay grateful, take a nap, and as always… stay greedy, bitch.

How do you respond when going through difficult times? In this message, Pastor Anvita Elder teaches on the attitude Job had while going through his toughest season and how the perspective you have can change everything.
The way you see your past reveals your heart, shapes your present, and sets the trajectory for your future. Gratitude isn't just for the good moments, it's God's will for every moment. 1 Thessalonians 5:18-Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Habakkuk 3:17–18-Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. You can't honor God and not honor People. Rom 12:10-Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Philippians 2:3-Don't do anything for selfish purposes, but with humility think of others as better than yourselves.
How Close Is Your Jesus? Closer Than You've Ever Been Told. Discussion Questions: Read Romans 6:1-4. What three events were you baptized into? Is this about water baptism? If not, please explain. Read Galatians 2:20. Explain "it is no longer I who live" versus "the life I now live." Read Galatians 6:14. React to this statement: "The world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." Read Colossians 3:3-4, Ephesians 2:5-6, John 14:20, and 1 Corinthians 6:17. Focus on these four words: hidden, seated, in, and joins. What do these communicate about your closeness to God? Read Galatians 5:24. Notice that you did the crucifying this time. When did you crucify the flesh with its passions and desires? How? Read Romans 6:17, 1 Timothy 1:5, and 2 Corinthians 9:7. What do these passages have to say about your heart? Read John 1:16 and Colossians 2:9-10. React to this statement: You have received of His fullness, and in Him you have been made complete in Him.

Psychologists and self-help gurus will all tell us that a grateful heart and a positive outlook will do wonders for health and relationships. A person with a heart of gratitude will be seen by others who will want to follow and see what he has going for him.Such a person is a magnet for sharing the Gospel, and the greatest source of wisdom has much to say on the subject. Dozens of times in the Bible, we read about the value of gratitude. Paul mentions it several times, including in the account of Elisha healing a woman's sick son.We read in 2 Kings 4:37, “She fell at his feet and bowed before him, overwhelmed with gratitude. Then she took her son in her arms and carried him downstairs.”To be overwhelmed with gratitude is an emotional reaction to kindness.Lamentations 3:22–24 says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in him.'”This is especially interesting because to lament means a person is sorrowful about something. In this case, it's the prophet, Jeremiah. But notice, even in his grief, he focuses on God's love and care for him. He is grateful in his circumstance. In modern language, Jeremiah was being intentional about his gratitude. The Bible tells us there are many variations of gratitude. In Second Corinthians, Paul even expressed his deep gratefulness to God for allowing him to participate in sharing the Gospel. You see, a truly grateful heart transitions from selfishness to concern for others. And we can do the same thing today. When we focus on others, gratitude follows. In Philippians 4, Paul also passes along a profound life lesson. Here, he says that we can learn to be grateful in all circumstances. Think about that. Grateful — whether in distress or good times. Abundance, or poverty.A few years ago, a youth missions group was repairing homes damaged by storms in Louisiana. A girl entered a house that was missing part of its roof, and she found an elderly woman rocking in a chair in a bedroom. “Oh, I'm just so happy to have a dry place to sit,” the woman said. She literally had no other dry areas in her home to be until help could arrive. Yet she didn't complain about her circumstances. Instead, she gave thanks to the Lord, and in so doing — inspired that 16-year-old girl.Gratitude is a perpetual gift, to us, and to others.Let's pray.Father God, you are good. You're good to us every day, and we are thankful for that. We're grateful that you didn't leave us in our sins, but you sent Jesus. We're grateful that you sustain us always, in body and in spirit. Happy Thanksgiving! As you gather with family and friends today, we hope your hearts are filled with gratitude to God for His many blessings. While Thanksgiving is a treasured tradition for us, its roots stretch back more than 4 centuries. Who gathered at that first feast in 1621? Why were they there? And what exactly were they giving thanks for?Let's take a closer look at the remarkable story of the Pilgrims—one of enduring faith, sacrifice, and God's gracious provision.Who Were the Pilgrims? Most of us learned in grade school that the Plymouth Colony—located in present-day Massachusetts—was founded in 1620 by a group we know as the Pilgrims. These settlers, also called Separatists, longed to break away entirely from the Church of England, believing it had drifted from biblical teaching. Their commitment to worship according to Scripture set them on a courageous journey toward religious freedom.Nearby, the Puritans would establish the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630. While they shared many beliefs with the Pilgrims, their approach differed. The Puritans remained within the Church of England, seeking to reform it from within. Though their strategies diverged, the stories of these two groups are deeply intertwined in the early chapters of American history. The Pilgrims faced significant persecution in England for worshiping outside the established church. Holding fast to the Bible as their ultimate authority made them targets. In 1609, seeking refuge, they fled to Leiden, Holland. Yet even there, challenges persisted—some were arrested, and the freedom they sought still felt out of reach.Recognizing Europe would not offer the spiritual liberty they longed for, they made a bold and costly decision: to sail to the New World. About 120 men, women, and children boarded the Mayflower. While some passengers—known as “adventurers”—joined the voyage for economic opportunity, the Pilgrims' primary aim was clear: to worship freely and build a life rooted firmly in their faith.Hardship Upon ArrivalTheir journey across the Atlantic was long and brutal. Delays meant they arrived in November—not summer—leaving no time to plant crops. That first winter, remembered as “the starving time,” was devastating. Nearly half the group died from disease and lack of food.Still, in God's providence, the Pilgrims formed a gracious relationship with local Native Americans. A Native American named Squanto—who had learned English years earlier—became a critical ally. He taught them how to plant corn, where to fish, and how to survive in an unfamiliar land. His guidance helped bring the colony through that difficult first year. With Squanto's help, the Pilgrims planted crops in the spring of 1621 and harvested enough that fall to sustain their small community. To honor God for His provision, they invited their Native American neighbors to join them in a feast of thanksgiving.By that point, only 22 men, four married women, and 25 teenagers and children remained from the original group. Their guests nearly doubled the gathering, bringing food and friendship—resulting in what may have been America's first potluck meal. Together, they celebrated survival, provision, and the kindness of God expressed through unexpected relationships.A Legacy of FaithYears later, Plymouth's longtime governor, William Bradford, reflected on their experience in Of Plymouth Plantation, quoting Hebrews 11:13–16 to describe the Pilgrims' faith:“All these people were still living by faith when they died… They were looking for a country of their own… longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.”For the Pilgrims, this passage captured the heart of their journey. They understood that their true home was not a piece of land or a colony—they belonged to God. Their courage, perseverance, and gratitude were expressions of that eternal hope.As we celebrate Thanksgiving today, may we remember this story of faith under pressure, resilience in hardship, and gratitude rooted in God's unwavering provision. The freedoms we enjoy—especially the freedom to worship—come through the sacrifices of those who came before us.From all of us at FaithFi, we wish you a warm, joyful, and grace-filled Thanksgiving. May your day be filled with gratitude for God's goodness and confidence in His faithful care.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:My question is about the so-called ‘Dollar 2.0' and the new S.1582 bill. Isn't it easier to feel grateful when life is going well? Everything seems simpler when things are great personally, professionally, financially, and your relationships are thriving. But what about when life gets tough? Maybe you're dealing with a broken heart, struggling to pay your bills, or facing a loved one's hospitalization. In those overwhelming moments, practicing gratitude can feel impossible, but it's also when we need it most. In today's episode, I'm exploring why heartfelt gratitude has its greatest power not when life is easy, but when life is hard—and how to shift your consciousness from resistance to acceptance. I'll share personal stories from the most difficult moments of my life and how gratitude became the most powerful medicine for peace and healing. Finally, I'll walk you through a simple three-step daily journaling process to help you shift from resistance to acceptance and from suffering to strength. When you learn to practice heartfelt gratitude, you can move beyond surface-level thankfulness to cultivate gratitude, even in your darkest moments, so you can reclaim your inner peace. This week is Thanksgiving, so we're celebrating gratitude with the RWB fam. We heard from our colleagues about what they're grateful for this year -- from brave kids walking out over ICE to the work we get to do every day to the joys of a good book. That's not to say that we're not also pissed off! Trump's latest misogynistic jibe (calling a female reporter "piggy") has Katie and LaFonda fuming. But the response we're seeing online from other women and the ways that our communities are standing up to extremism across the country give us hope.We can hold many things at the same time. 2025 has been an unbelievably difficult year, but it's also been full of moments that make us grateful. We hope you have a safe and happy holiday and we'll see you next week. For a transcript of this episode, please email comms@redwine.blue. Studies have shown that gratitude can help us cope with challenges and is good for our relationships and our health. But figuring out how to foster gratitude in kids isn't always easy or obvious. Andrea Hussong, PhD, talks about why gratitude matters; how to help kids feel thankful, recognize generosity and think about others; and how to respond productively in the moment when kids do something ungrateful.
