A scary afternoon for Laura as she tells us about how her son, Charlie, fell off a roof while at work and landed in a well with the EMT's having to cut him out of his clothes. He was in the hospital when we recorded this, and thank God he suffered a fracture in his back instead of what could have happened. Grateful is the only word for this miracle, and it's the best Christmas miracle Laura could ever ask for. Bad things happen around the holidays sometimes, but we need to focus on what we are thankful for, even if it's just the small things. If you're feeling low right now, we're here for ya. We then call Laura's mom because it was her birthday. We bust her for something she does every night. Erik brings it home with some extra spicy Double D Showbiz News, including some inside details about the night leading up to the Reiners' death. Wow. We will be back on Christmas Day with our last show of the year. Already looking forward to a bitchin' 2026! Hello to you listening in Jakarta, Indonesia!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. As the old ones say, “If we are not grateful for what we have in this present moment, what makes us think we will be happy with more?” Maybe it's true and maybe it isn't but long ago and far away there lived a man in a small country village. He had everything he had ever asked for: friends, livelihood, wife, family - and yet and yet something was stirring in him: Looking around he asked himself, Is this all there is? Perhaps I am meant for something more, something better. Perhaps I should go and seek my happiness outside the village. One summer morning he left his home, carefully closed the garden gate behind him and walked away. He walked for miles and miles until he could no longer see where he had been. Night fell and he found himself deep in a dark forest. Having no other shelter he took off his shoes, spread his coat on the ground, and fell asleep against the trunk of a tree for he was very tired.Watching him sleep his angel shook her head at the folly of his adventure. But what could she do? She could turn his shoes around facing them back in the direction from which he came. And so she did. When the man awoke he pulled on his coat, put his feet into his shoes and began to walk. After many miles of walking the man began to see familiar fields, a few farmhouses, a village - all looking very much like what he had left; but how could that be? People in the village market greeted him as if he was familiar to them; but how could that be? Arriving at a cottage with a garden gate he was startled to be greeted by children and a woman as if he were their long lost father and husband; but how could that be? They welcomed him inside, took off his shoes, sat him at a table very much like one he knew, fed him food that tasted like home; but how could that be?To this very day the man lives with that family in that home in that village and wonders, “If this isn't happiness, what is?” As the old ones say, “If we are not grateful for what we have in this present moment, what makes us think we will be happy with more?” You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" What I Learned the Hard Way so You Don't Have To | The Life Survival GuideAs this year comes to a close, I like to start reflecting on the year and think about how I feel about the decisions and choices I made.More importantly, I want my reflections to inform how I plan on showing up different in the upcoming year. Rather than focusing my time on what I'm grateful this year, I want to focus my energy on what qualities, traits and characteristics did I grow into and evolve away from this year.Grateful for the person my actions tell about who I am. And while it's great to feel gratitude and thankful for the people, places, and situations around us... it is equally important to have gratitude for the strengths, gifts, and abilities that awoken within us, too.Do you have any questions? We've all seen the videos - we may have even seen it in our own living rooms on Christmas morning... A child, even teenager, opens a gift their loved one has especially picked out for them, and they proceed to complain about how it's not the one they wanted. The wrong colour bicycle, wrong model phone, it could be anything. So how do we teach our children to be grateful for anything they're given this Christmas? Happy Naming is about giving yourself an accurate assessment of the way things are, Knowing your limits helps you balance, and knowing your starting point helps you grow, Self-Awareness affords you the capacity to evaluate and understand how you got this far And allows for the clarity of purpose and the vision to know how far you have yet to go. [full text below] Ep. 433 - Happy Naming We begin as always with the Happy Creed. We believe in Happy, in Balance and Growth, of being Mindful and Grateful, Compassionate and Understanding. Yowza Haha My Happy Friends! I get the draw of softening language to lessen the blow, and yet It runs the risk of diluting the meaning of what you're trying to express, Like saying “I'm experiencing slight feelings of annoyance and upset,” Instead of just saying “I'm mad and it's giving me a lot of stress.” Adding abstractions and euphemisms doesn't always make things better, In some cases it can even create disconnection when you need to recognize That facts aren't that scary, and not every word starts with a scarlet letter, And that hiding from reality makes things worse, burying truth under lies. If you can't even name it, then you certainly can't spot it or face it, And it'll forever linger to threaten, frighten and worry you to death, An unnamed danger endlessly lurking, defying any attempt to erase it, While an identified feeling or state is as manageable as one's own breath. Then once named, located, defined, and acknowledged it becomes containable, If I'm blue, I don't say “I'm having persistent sorrowful leanings,” I just say “I'm sad,” And once I do, then the path appears and reaching the summit seems attainable, As I get to work helping my heart strengthen and heal until I don't feel quite so bad. And it also keeps me from going overboard the other way into doom speech! When we turn truths into exaggerations, they can get away from us but quick, So that when merely feeling anxious, we instead call ourselves broken and beyond reach, Losing any and all trust in our own ability to handle life and thereby make ourselves sick. Haha Yowza
In this episode of Letters from Midlife, I'm responding to a letter from a woman who's struggling with a shift so many of us experience in midlife, yet rarely speak about with real honesty: no longer recognising the woman looking back at us in the mirror. She writes about the weight, the softness, the bloating, the aches. About feeling like her body has changed overnight and wondering if this is normal, and how she's meant to feel at home in her body again. If you've ever looked in the mirror and felt a wave of grief, frustration, or quiet disbelief, this episode is for you.I talk openly about why these changes happen in midlife, what's actually going on beneath the surface, and why this isn't your body betraying you, but recalibrating for a new season. I share my own moments of feeling disconnected from my body, and the shift that changed everything for me: moving from fighting my body to listening to her.Inside this episode, I explore how to soften your relationship with your changing body, why focusing on support rather than shrinking matters more than ever, and how strength, rest, and compassion can help you feel grounded again in your own skin. We talk about grief too, because losing the body you once knew is real, and pretending otherwise only makes it heavier. This isn't about loving how you look overnight. It's about learning to treat your body as a partner instead of a problem, and beginning a kinder, steadier conversation with yourself. If your body feels unfamiliar right now, let this be your reminder: you are not behind, broken, or failing. You are becoming. And before I go, I want to share something that genuinely stopped me in my tracks. Midlife by Design: Curating Your Next Chapter has been listed as number 14 out of 70 on Feedspot's Top Lifestyle Design Podcasts.Number fourteen. Out of seventy. I had to read it twice. What makes this even sweeter is that this recognition originally came under my old podcast name, and once they reviewed the rebrand, they updated everything to reflect who I am now, this season, this voice, this work.It feels like a quiet confirmation from the universe: keep going. Your voice is landing exactly where it needs to.And honestly, I'm just grateful. Grateful that something I create from my lived experience is helping women in midlife feel seen, steady, and a little less alone. Here's to the next chapter, one honest conversation at a time. For more slow rituals, gentle reminders, and reflections on becoming, visit Kiransinghuk.com and explore my Digital Library, or join me on Substack at Midlife by Design: Curating Your Next Chapter.

Have you ever found yourself moving through your days loving Jesus, yet longing to feel truly awake in your faith again? If your heart has been craving a deeper connection with Him—even if you can’t quite name the longing—you’re not alone. And this week’s conversation on The Love Offering Podcast may be just the gentle spark your soul has been needing. I had the joy of talking with actress, producer, and singer Jen Lilley about her new devotional, Wake Up Your Faith: 365 Daily Encounters with Jesus. Jen’s heart for the Lord shines through every page as she invites us into a more vibrant, Christ-centered life—one anchored in Scripture and strengthened by daily surrender. In our conversation, Jen shares how this devotional helps us: reignite our faith when life feels ordinary or heavy, claim the promises of God with confidence, experience the nearness of the Holy Spirit in everyday moments, and walk in the heavenly authority we’ve been given through Christ. This is an encouraging reminder that we don’t have to drift, settle, or live spiritually weary. God invites us to reclaim the ground the Enemy has tried to steal and to walk boldly in the purpose He designed for us. If you’re longing for a renewed rhythm with Jesus in the days ahead, I think Jen’s words—and her devotional—will bless you deeply. Send us a textLet's be honest: when you're exhausted, under-resourced, and working in a system that keeps asking for more… gratitude can feel like a stretch. In this episode, we're talking about gratitude—but not the fluffy, bypass-y kind that tells you to “just be thankful” while everything burns down. We're talking about real gratitude: the kind that helps regulate your nervous system, protect your mental health, and increase resilience without denying how hard things are.If you've ever had a patient thank you—and felt nothing but resentment, numbness, or exhaustion—this episode is for you.In this episode, we exploreWhy gratitude is not the same as toxic positivityHow burnout can make it impossible to receive gratitude—even when it's offeredThe thought–feeling–action loop and how gratitude fits into itWhy forced gratitude doesn't work (and what does)How small, honest gratitude practices can reduce stress physiologyThe science linking gratitude to better mental health, cardiovascular outcomes, and even longevityWhy gratitude works best when layered with sleep, rest, movement, nutrition, and boundariesWe also talk about what to do if you're too burned out for gratitude—and why that's not a personal failure. The science we reference:https://clinmedjournals.org/articles/ijda/international-journal-of-depression-and-anxiety-ijda-4-024.php?jid=ijdahttps://www.uclahealth.org/news/article/health-benefits-gratitudehttps://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapsychiatry/fullarticle/2820770https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/gratitude-enhances-health-brings-happiness-and-may-even-lengthen-lives-202409113071This episode is part of our 10-Week Stress Reduction Challenge for Women Physicians—and this week's focus is learning how to experience gratitude in a way that actually supports your health.

As we get older we can see the importance, if not the urgency, to savor every moment that we have been given by the Lord. The Christmas season brings a heightened awareness of this reality. In a season where we are going to find ourselves in lots of rooms and around lots of table...some we are excited about and some that we aren't so excited about...let us stop and ask what kind of presence we bring. As believers may we feel the calling and the delight to bring the Lord's presence to those we will be around. He has ordained those specific moments and individuals. In this series we will look at four traits of those who seemingly walk in a nearness to the Lord and so bless those in their company. DNA Questions - Psalm 107Discover:What are the redeemed of the Lord saying? What is the common denominator throughout this chapter? What do the upright see? Nurture:Which of scenarios in this chapter do you resonate with most? What does it look like to "attend to these things"?What evidence do you have that the Lord is working redemptively in your life? Act:What would it look like for you to be intentional about giving thanks to the Lord? What area of your life do you need to cry out to the Lord whose love is steadfast and enduring for deliverance?
To effectively walk in God's power you must first walk with God. Authority works best when you follow the leading of the Spirit. Embrace His presence & flow!

Christmas can feel magical. It can also feel exhausting. If you're a parent who secretly feels pressure rising as the holidays approach—the expectations, the mess, the emotions, the memories—you're not alone. And sometimes, the clearest wisdom doesn't come from another parenting book or productivity hack. Sometimes it comes from children. I sat down with my two sons for a conversation about Christmas. I expected sweetness and laughter (and we definitely had that). But what I didn't expect was how profoundly wise their reflections would be—for moms and dads who want to keep Christ and joy at the center, even when emotions run high. May this conversation be a gentle reminder for all of us about what truly matters this season. The Most Important Thing During the Holiday Season When I asked my boys what makes Christmas special, their answers were simple: Being with family Giving and receiving gifts And most importantly—Jesus Isn't it interesting how easy it is for adults to know that truth, but still lose sight of it when stress enters the room? Kids seem to understand something we forget:Christmas isn't about perfection. It's about presence. Not perfect decorations. Not perfect meals. Not perfect behavior. But hearts that are oriented toward love. How Christmas Gets Derailed (And What Actually Matters) One of the most insightful moments came when we talked about what can ruin Christmas. Their answer? A negative, ungrateful attitude. And then they surprised me again by pointing out something many parents don't want to hear: "Adults need to remember this too." Children feel the atmosphere of a home.Even when no words are spoken. Tension.Unresolved anger.Stress that leaks out sideways. Kids may not understand the details—but they absolutely feel the weight. And when parents are overwhelmed or snapping at each other, it impacts everything. When You're Tempted to Snap at Your Spouse So, what do you do when you're tempted to snap at your spouse? Here's where the conversation turned especially tender. We talked about parents getting stressed—especially moms who want everything to be "just right" before guests arrive. And my sons said something profound: Take ownership of your emotions Don't take stress out on your spouse Walk away if you need to Calm your body before speaking They emphasized taking ownership of the way you choose to respond. We discussed Matthew 12:36 that says, "I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak," The win isn't never feeling frustrated. The win is choosing restraint, humility, and love in the moment of temptation. The Gift of Calming Yourself Before You Speak How do you calm yourself before you lose your temper? They offered practical ideas—simple, doable, grace-filled: Take a walk Drink cold water Take deep breaths Step outside or into another room Take a long shower with space to think Not to avoid responsibility—but to prevent harm. Because once harsh words are spoken, they linger. And children remember not just what we say—but how it felt to be in our presence. If You've Messed Up Before… There Is Grace What if Christmas in the past was painful? What if words were spoken—or wounds created—that still ache? Their advice? Pray Go to the person you hurt Say "I'm sorry" sincerely Ask if there's anything you can do to repair And then—trust God with what you cannot undo. You are not disqualified from joy because of past mistakes. Keeping Christ at the Center (Without Adding Pressure) When I asked how families can keep Jesus at the center of Christmas, their answers weren't complicated: A nativity scene A meaningful star on the tree Praying before meals Simply thinking about Jesus Not performance. Not religious pressure. Just intentional reminders. Sometimes the most Christ-centered thing you can do is slow down enough to remember why you're celebrating. Final Thoughts: What Happens After Christmas The final question: When January comes, how do you want to remember this Christmas? My boys said: Happy, Safe, Grateful, Hopeful. Not impressed. Not exhausted. Not relieved it's over. But filled. That kind of Christmas doesn't come from doing more. It comes from being more present. If the holidays feel intimidating this year, hear this:You don't have to create a perfect Christmas. You are invited to cultivate a peaceful one. One where Christ is honored. Where your marriage is protected. Where your children feel safe. Where grace is louder than stress. And if you feel overwhelmed already—pause. Jesus came for this kind of moment. May your home be filled with warmth, peace, and joy this season. And may Christ—not pressure—be at the center. You can listen in on Pandora, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Deezer, Amazon Music, and more, or directly on my website at www.teriwellbrock.com/podcasts/. You can also catch our insightful interview on YouTube. Bio: Janet Young My name is Janet Young. I have been conscious of the subtle and invisible realms of energy as long as I can remember. As a child I was a natural intuitive, empath and often saw and communicated with the dead. I had a childhood in the northwoods on a large farm. I was literally in the woods from sun up until sundown. This was my choice, I felt nurtured in the forest. The natural world is our foundation for life and a direct connection to Pure Creator Energy. As an adult I spent 5 years doing missionary work in the inner city of Chicago, had an intense NDE in my early 20's and later graduated from the Dovestar Institute of Holistic Technology. My studies included meditation, body alchemia, Reiki, massage therapy, reflexology and more. While learning massage therapy I instantly began seeing Animal Spirit Totems in my client's Chakras. I then took classes in Shamanic studies to gain understanding of the animal totems and began the practice of Shamanic journeys. I am also a certified Vipassana Meditation Teacher. As a massage therapist I have many advanced certifications including lymphatic drainage, prenatal massage, craniosacral therapy, hot stones, neuromuscular, sound healing, Shamanic Reiki, TCM acupressure, and more. I am mindful of the body, mind, spirit connection and often combine energy medicine modalities, meditation, and massage to achieve optimal results for my clients. Being certified in Sound Healing using Tuning Forks from the school of Acutonics and Soma Energetics, I have developed many ways to achieve Chakra balancing, both remotely and in person, creating harmony within my clients biofield. I have been a successful Reiki Master Teacher since 2008. I have seen many clients come to me with pain, ailments, and emotional energies that were stuck in their body or energy fields who found relief with my combined therapies. I have also enjoyed watching my Reiki students expand their skills, build confidence and receive all the gifts that becoming a Reiki practitioner brings! As a meditation teacher I have had many students who came to me believing that they could not meditate or could not achieve higher states of consciousness who leave my classes having achieved both. After working 20 years in the Healing Arts, combining Reiki with Shamanism and many other modes of psychic and energy healing with massage therapy, I would never compare one's visionary healing work to anothers. Reiki is as deep as YOU are. Limitless. We are all an infinite source of the Divine within us. I am happy to answer any questions about Reiki or what I teach, or how a chakra reading or massage session with me may be of help to you. Thank you! If you open your eyes and instantly feel mentally crowded, emotionally tense, or already behind, this 15-minute morning practice is going to change everything about how your day begins. In today's episode, I'm sharing the exact 15-minute sequence I use on mornings when I wake up anxious, wired, or overwhelmed — and the neuroscience behind why it works. Becoming A Grateful Person 1 (07.12.25) by Paul Osei Yaw Afoakwa
Ever wish you could lose weight without logging every crumb, giving up Oreos, or spiraling with guilt after a snack attack? Girl, SAME.But Macy? She's proof that you don't have to do any of that.In today's episode, I'm chatting with Macy—a rockstar mom (of TWO under three!) and Mindful Weight Loss Academy client—who lost 26 pounds (and 2 pant sizes!) just 4 months postpartum…without dieting, calorie counting, or giving up Oreos. We're diving into what it really takes to lose weight mindfully: eating real food (yes, even deep-fried fair food!), joining an amazing community for support, and actually putting yourself FIRST for once. Macy shares how upping her protein, listening to her body (no more eating by the clock!), and giving herself grace changed everything. Plus, she dishes on how her healthy habits are rubbing off on her family and friends (hello, ripple effect)! If you're tired of starting over every Monday, convinced you “don't have time,” or nervous to invest in yourself, you need to hear Macy's story. This episode is REAL TALK about mom life, weight loss, and why it's totally possible for you—yes, YOU—to lose weight and keep it off without restriction or deprivation.Ready for your own transformation? Hit play and let's do this together!xoxo,JackieConnect with Macy:Instagram: @macyraine4MORE FROM JACKIE: >
“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” Helen Keller “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Romans 5:3-5 NIV Suffering. A word that people don't like to say or experience. Most of our life is about avoiding suffering. How well do you suffer? On this weekend's show, Kurt and Chad welcome Greg Taylor to talk about suffering and how medical, physical, emotional, and financial suffering set him on a path to a closeness with God and his family that wouldn't have happened outside of suffering.
If Christ lives in you, why are you still trying to do this alone? Discussion Questions: Read John 3:36 and 5:24. What does it mean to "see life" and to have "passed out of death into life"? Read John 14:19 and react to this statement: "Because I live, you will live also." Read John 14:23. What does it mean to you to have the entire Trinity living within you? Read Romans 5:10 and react to this statement: I am reconciled by Jesus' death and saved by Jesus' life. Read Romans 8:10-11. What does "the spirit is alive because of righteousness" mean for the imputed-vs-imparted righteousness debate? Read 1 John 4:13 and 2:27. How do you understand "abiding" better because of these? Read Galatians 5:16, 25. In your own words, describe what it means to walk by the Spirit.
