Discussing women in television, one show (and sometimes movie) at a time.
In this episode, Natalie and Emily go down the rabbit hole of Darren Aronofsky’s Mother! This alegorical film which stars Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem with special appearances by Michelle Pfeiffer and Ed Harris, tells the story of a young woman restoring a house which she lives in with her lover, a much older man. As the man invites more and more into the house, the woman grows more and more uneasy until chaos rules both inside the home and inside herself. The movie which is labeled as a Psychological Thriller might be described more accurately as a dark allegory for the hebraic creation story and modern religion with a special emphasis on mother earth who experiences it all. *One thing Nat and Em want to add is the probable relation between the crystal and the apple of the garden of eden. Once Adam and Eve drop it, he boards up his office (the garden). Enjoy and as always email us with comments!
