In his latest interview with BizNews, Elections Analyst Wayne Sussman explains why KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi's Press Conference was “absolutely devastating”. He says the General's claims “go to the heart of the challenge of the ANC, that President Ramaphosa was going to reform the ANC and course correct after the devastating years of Jacob Zuma leading the ANC”. Intead, “here you have one of his trusted lieutenants, one of his right-hand men, one of the people in the party he's extremely close to, being fingered with the most damning of evidence with ties to the underworld”. He notes that the implicated Police Minister Senzo Mchunu was going to play “a key role in the next election for the ANC to recover all that lost support in KwaZulu-Natal”. Sussman also laments the assassination of African National Congress (ANC) councillor Thabang Masemola in Ward 10 in Mamelodi, saying that “this is becoming too common a feature of Gauteng politics”. Dissecting the latest by-election results, Sussman says the “the DA will say that they are on track on the road to Tshwane, which will be a battleground metro in 2026; uMkhonto weSizwe make inroads in ANC heartland, in Xhosa-speaking heartland; the Freedom Front will say…that they have some hope in the Free State”. He also gives a preview of upcoming elections that could be “really narrative forming on the road to the 2026 local government elections”.

In this episode of the Dover Download podcast, Deputy City Manager Christopher Parker chats with Eric Sanderson, the city's project manager, and Library Director Denise LaFrance about the ongoing renovation of Dover's historic library. The project, which began six months ago, is nearing the completion of demolition work and has started putting new elements back in place. Key structural work includes steel installation in the basement and relocating the fire stairway to improve access between the children's room and the new "Book Maze."The renovation is a comprehensive "down to the bones" project aimed at creating a safer, more ADA-accessible building. Major changes include expanding the children's room into the basement of the historic 1905 building section, relocating the main circulation desk, adding more meeting rooms, and creating a new central entrance with an elevator and bathrooms on each floor. The project has faced some delays due to lead time issues with electrical equipment and window restoration challenges, pushing the anticipated reopening from January to February 2026.While operating temporarily at the McConnell Center since December 2024, the library has discovered new community partnership opportunities, including expanded outreach programs, homebound delivery services, and collaboration with local organizations and schools. These innovative approaches will continue after the library returns to its renovated space. The library is currently in its busy summer reading season, offering programs for all ages both at the temporary location and through increased off-site programming. In This Week in Dover History, we learn about former Mayor Jack Buckley's 1979 decision to resign from office to become executive director of the Dover Housing Authority, where he served for 34 years and transformed affordable housing in the city, including overseeing the Cocheco Park development and converting the historic Saint John's Methodist Episcopal Church into elderly housing.
Perhaps you've seen them while driving on I-55, riding the Orange Line, or even watching that one Transformers movie – the Damen Silos have been an iconic southwest side structure for over a century. Despite being abandoned for the last 50 years, the once revolutionary grain elevators have been a key site for urban explorers, graffiti artists, and McKinley Park neighbors alike. Now the city has issued a demolition permit, and owners say it'll take about six months. The City Cast Chicago team discusses neighbors' demolition concerns, the ongoing preservation fight, and how we would redevelop the land. From the archives: 7-13-23Idaho University was gifted the house on King Road in the wake of the murders and they said from the start that the ultimate goal was to raze the place to the ground eventually. That plan was supposed to be enacted before the start of the new semester. Now though, the school has announced a pause in its plans as the victims families have come out in opposition to the plan, stating that they don't want the house demolished before the trial is over, that way the jury can get a look at the scene of the crime for themselves if they so choose. The university has announced that it still plans to demolish the house on King Road, but an exact date as to when that will happen is still yet to be decided.(commercial at 7:07)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:University of Idaho will PAUSE demolition of house where four students were brutally murdered | Daily Mail OnlineBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.

Dilapidated and vacant buildings are more than eyesores for the community. They can lower property value and impact safety. But before starting up the bulldozers, Landmarks Illinois wants property owners and city governments to consider renovation and restoration. Their latest list of endangered historic places includes the Spivey Building in East St. Louis and various Meramec Caverns Barns including one in Madison County. Bryan Kohberger and his legal team will have one last chance to get evidence from the house located at 1122 King Road. His legal team, led by Ann Taylor have access to the house for the next couple of days as they continue to try and build a bulwark of evidence around their client. The University Of Idaho, who was gifted the property, has said all along that they planned to demolish it, the only question was when that would happen. We now know. The house will be demolished on December 28th, months before any sort of trial will even take place. The question is, will the decision come back to haunt the proceedings?(commercial at 10:45)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Bryan Kohberger case update: Defense lawyers get access to home where he's accused of slaughtering four students before it is demolished later this month | Daily Mail Online
