Michael Payne is a hard-charging salesman that entered the granite countertop business in 2016 with 1 goal in mind, to be the best in the Richmond, VA area. This goal all started with a discussion with the owner of his first company telling him to sell to all of the top ten builders in Richmond. Mike knew that he wanted to be in business for himself, in fact, he wrote it in permanent marker in 2016 and set a timeline of 5-7 years. The thing that makes the construction industry so special is the willingness of people to share their wisdom and lessons learned with others. This episode was a lot of fun as both Charles and Joshua are passionate about process improvement and Jesse Hernandez is a leader in the Lean Construction space. This is a conversation with Jesse where we allow him to nerd out and share as much about Lean as he was willing to share. There will be more episodes in the future as this was the most fun episode we have recorded and there is a lot of actionable content for all of us to soak in. 

Charles and Josh discuss the reality of burnout in the construction industry in hopes of encouraging others to open up about their struggles and challenges. This episode should be powerful for more than just the construction industry as most people do experience burnout or the feeling of being overwhelmed and nobody is alone in this reality. 

The past week we spent some time working one on one with our teammates and thought it would be a great discussion for the show. In this episode, we discuss the value of building each other up and adding value to those on our team and those around us. This was a fun episode to record as both Charles and I are passionate about the trade partners that we work with on our job sites. This episode is a continuation of our daily routine episode and we brought on a trade partner to discuss what he learned from being a construction manager building homes. We think this episode will be a nice addition to the show to share the views of construction managers on how they handle their daily routine and what helped them to be successful. We intend to do one more episode with this individual to discuss more on his time as a trade partner and what he has learned about the business from working on job sites from the trades perspective. 

This is a quick introduction to the next episode which will be an interview with a subcontractor and the value of a good daily routine and how it helps build our trade partner base.
