The Devil WithinThe Castle of the Damned — Episode One: The Necromancer's Bargain Episode Overview In 1987, an archaeological team investigating Hermitage Castle in the Scottish Borders made a discovery that would disturb historians, archaeologists, and paranormal investigators alike. Hidden beneath the castle's great hall was a sealed chamber, untouched for centuries. Inside they found ritual symbols carved into the stone, shelves of forbidden texts, and a lead coffin covered in Latin inscriptions. Something inside had been trying to claw its way out. And according to medieval records… it once belonged to William de Soulis. This episode investigates the dark legend of William de Soulis — a fourteenth-century nobleman whose obsession with forbidden knowledge transformed his castle into what historians now believe may have been a ritual laboratory for necromantic experiments. We explore: The strange library of occult texts inherited by the de Soulis family William's documented experiments attempting to communicate with supernatural entities His alleged bargain with an entity known only as “The Teacher” The gradual transformation of both the man and the castle itself Reports of supernatural architecture within Hermitage Castle — rooms and corridors behaving impossibly The violent events surrounding William's death in 1320 The extraordinary measures taken by monks to seal his body in lead and stone But the story does not end with his death. Because when archaeologists reopened the hidden chamber in 1987… the coffin was no longer sealed. Themes in This Episode: The dangers of knowledge pursued without wisdom Medieval occult traditions hidden within historical records The intersection of ambition, scholarship, and supernatural belief Whether evil is invited… or discovered The excavation of Hermitage Castle revealed far more than medieval artifacts. It may have reawakened something. And the people who studied the discovery would soon begin to pay a terrible price.

Welcome to Loan Officer Freedom, the #1 podcast in the country for loan officers, hosted by Carl White. In this episode, Carl White sits down with Robyn LaVassaur for a real conversation about something that quietly separates top producers from everyone else: recovery rate. Not just how fast you bounce back from a tough call or a lost deal, but how quickly you recover from life events, setbacks, rejection, and the mental hits that can steal your momentum if you let them linger. Robyn explains why recovery rate is a learned skill, how gratitude changes the way you carry grief and disappointment, and why action is the fastest path back to clarity. They talk through practical ways to reset your mindset, protect your mental real estate, and stop one hard moment from turning into a snowball of problems that spills into your pipeline and your paycheck. If you have ever felt like a rough meeting, a "no," or a stressful season knocked you off your game longer than it should have, this episode will help you tighten that bounce-back window. Because in this business, it is not the rejection that slows you down, it is how long you stay there. If you've ever felt pressure to be the "good girl," you're not the only one. Dr. Mindy has heard from thousands of women who feel exhausted by the pressure to be agreeable, accommodating, and selfless. Many women were taught that being good meant putting everyone else first. But over time, that pattern often leads to resentment, burnout, and a deep disconnection from your own voice. That's why Dr. Mindy invited writer and cultural critic Elise Loehnen to join her for this conversation. Elise is the former Chief Content Officer of goop and the New York Times bestselling author of On Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins and the Price Women Pay to Be Good. Through her writing and podcast Pulling the Thread, Elise explores the cultural expectations that shape women's lives and how those expectations influence our relationships, emotions, and sense of identity. In this conversation, Dr. Mindy and Elise unpack the invisible rules women have been taught to live by for generations. They explore why women were conditioned to suppress emotions like anger and envy, how people-pleasing shows up in female friendships, and why learning to trust your intuition is one of the most important skills a woman can develop. In this episode, you'll learn how to: -Reconnect with your intuition and inner authority -Understand the cultural conditioning shaping women's behavior -Recognize how suppressed emotions impact your health -Navigate female friendships with more awareness -Step out of people-pleasing patterns -Reclaim your voice and authenticity For any woman who feels like she has been living by expectations that don't truly belong to her, this conversation offers a new perspective. It helps you understand where those patterns came from and how to begin trusting yourself again. Why do kids feel like everyone else has more?In this thoughtful and eye-opening conversation, Rabbi Ari Schonfeld shares practical insights on parenting, money, social pressure, and how children develop their sense of self in a world filled with comparisons. From growing up in a home with very little, to leading a yeshiva and running a summer camp, Rabbi Schonfeld offers a rare perspective on what kids actually notice about money — and what parents often underestimate. When do children start comparing themselves to others? Why do brands, vacations, and clothing suddenly matter so much? And how can parents raise kids who feel confident and proud of their values, even when they can't have everything their friends have?Along the way, Rabbi Schonfeld shares powerful stories about childhood, school environments, parenting challenges, and one unforgettable moment when a teenager said something that stopped him in his tracks: “I don't want his trips. I want him.” This is an honest conversation about money, parenting, pressure, and what kids really want from the people raising them.I'm grateful to have had this conversation with Rabbi Ari Schonfeld.R' Ari's podcast can be found on:Apple - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-learning-curve-mishpacha/id1744827367Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/5ISRvKPoVS77dZqbbDNx1e?si=RnoE0DF9RLuAbHQbYAqYWA

The Hidden Lever of Corporate Resilience: Why Source-to-Pay Procurement Software Is Now Essential

    Irish Tech News Audio Articles

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 10, 2026 10:19

In boardrooms across the world, the tone of executive conversations has shifted. Where once the dominant themes were growth, expansion and digital transformation, today the language is more cautious: resilience, cost control, supply risk, and operational visibility. The global economy is entering one of those periods where volatility becomes the defining feature rather than the exception. Inflationary pressure, supply chain disruption, energy shocks, and geopolitical fragmentation have created an environment in which corporate leaders are being asked to do something extremely difficult: spend less, but operate smarter. For many organisations, the largest opportunity to accomplish this goal sits in a place that historically received far less executive attention than product, finance, marketing or sales – procurement. Procurement has traditionally been viewed as an operational function tasked with negotiating prices and managing supplier relationships. But that perception is increasingly outdated. In an era defined by supply chain fragility and cost scrutiny, procurement is rapidly emerging as one of the most strategic levers available to the modern enterprise. And at the heart of that transformation lies a new generation of source-to-pay procurement platforms that promise something executives have long struggled to achieve: real-time control over how money actually leaves the business. When companies experience economic headwinds, the first instinct is usually to freeze hiring or cut discretionary spending. While those actions may deliver short-term relief, they rarely address the deeper structural problem – a lack of visibility into where capital and operational expenditure are truly going. Many large organisations still rely on fragmented purchasing systems, spreadsheets, email approvals and manual invoice processing. The result is predictable: hidden spending, duplicated suppliers, inconsistent contract compliance and a procurement function that struggles to provide accurate insight into enterprise wide expenditure. Source-to-pay technology is designed to eliminate that opacity. A modern source-to-pay platform integrates every stage of the procurement lifecycle into a single digital workflow, beginning with supplier discovery and strategic sourcing and continuing through contracting, purchasing, invoicing and payment. Instead of procurement existing as a patchwork of disconnected processes, the entire spend ecosystem becomes structured, trackable and measurable. This shift is particularly powerful when it comes to capital expenditure. Capex decisions often involve large, multi-departmental investments, infrastructure upgrades, manufacturing equipment, technology deployments that can stretch across months or even years. Without centralised visibility, organisations frequently underestimate the long-term financial impact of these commitments or fail to capture economies of scale when negotiating with suppliers. Source-to-pay systems introduce discipline into these decisions by standardising approval processes, linking procurement activity directly to financial planning, and capturing every data point associated with the investment. Executives are no longer forced to rely on retrospective reporting to understand capital allocation. Instead, they can evaluate spending patterns as they emerge, allowing finance leaders to align procurement activity more closely with strategic priorities. Operational expenditure presents a different but equally challenging problem. OpEx tends to accumulate gradually through thousands of small purchasing decisions made across departments. Software subscriptions, consulting engagements, marketing services, office equipment, logistics contracts, individually these costs may appear modest, but collectively they can represent a significant portion of an organisation's annual budget. The challenge is not simply the magnitude of the spend but the fragmentation of the data surrounding it. In many compan...

Jordan shares how he uses on-the-ground observation, municipal GIS tools, zoning knowledge, and simple pattern recognition to uncover opportunities that don't show up in a typical MLS search. One of his most creative wins: realizing a single-family home sat on nearly an acre of land, then successfully subdividing it into three buildable lots. This episode dives into how he thinks, how he evaluates properties, and how he adapts in a shifting market. We cover: Why hyper-local knowledge beats long-distance spreadsheets The power of curiosity: constantly asking, "What am I missing?" How municipal maps, zoning meetings, and Google Earth reveal hidden value A step-by-step look at his subdivision deal How he leveled up from a condo to a three-unit via a clean 1031 exchange Why he sticks to B-class rentals for resilience in all market cycles A tough lesson learned about rejecting pet-owning tenants Why he only invests in one small region—and how that protects him How he uses AI for negotiation, deal clarity, and even diagnosing a broken toilet This is a practical, detailed, and refreshingly honest look at what happens when you invest deeply in one market and understand it at street level.

Sometimes the real opportunity isn't the property — it's the relationship. In this episode of Investor Impact: Power Talks with Vinney Chopra, Vinod Chopra hosts a mastermind conversation with accredited investors discussing how deals truly unfold in the real world. Vinney, who came to the United States with just $7 and later built a $1B+ real estate portfolio, reminds his InnerCircle investors that the best deals often come from long-term trust and relationships. One investor shares a powerful insight about working with a family that owns multiple properties across a city. At first glance, the opportunity looks like just another deal — but the real value may be opening the door to an entire portfolio of future opportunities. Vinney explains that seasoned investors know how to look beyond the first transaction. In this clip you'll learn: • Why building trust with property owners can unlock future deals • How family-owned portfolios often create hidden opportunities • Why experienced investors always think beyond the first acquisition This is the kind of behind-the-scenes thinking that separates average investors from those who build lasting wealth.

Hey friend,  Have you ever noticed that some weeks your sleep works and other weeks it completely falls apart? Do you ever wake up at 2 or 3 a.m. and wonder why your body suddenly won't settle? Have you asked yourself, “Why am I so tired all the time?” even when you're trying to take care of yourself? I'm Ashley — a mom living with chronic illness in a neurodivergent family. If you're dealing with constant fatigue, brain fog, inflammation, and broken sleep while trying to keep up with your kids, you're not alone. This podcast is for chronic illness moms raising neurodivergent kids who want stress relief, better sleep, and simple, realistic habits to finally feel better in their bodies. Each episode shares nervous-system-friendly support to help you calm overwhelm, boost energy, and practice healthy habits that improve your symptoms — even in the middle of a full, demanding life. If you've ever felt like your sleep and energy change week to week, you're not imagining it. Women's hormones operate differently than men's. Men's hormones reset on a 24-hour clock, while women's hormones shift throughout a monthly cycle, which means your body's recovery needs can change week to week. In this episode, I explain why the second half of the cycle often leads to sleep disruption, fatigue, and energy crashes, especially for women already managing chronic illness, stress, or poor sleep. You'll learn what is actually happening in the body, why these weeks can feel harder, and how simple habits from the Power 9 framework can support your body's recovery. What if Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, and even psychiatric symptoms are not random but driven by hidden infections? In this episode of Integrative Lyme Solutions, Dr. K sits down with research scientist and Lyme survivor Nikki Schultek to explore the infection hypothesis behind chronic disease. After battling years of misdiagnosed symptoms including asthma flares, interstitial cystitis, arrhythmias, neurological decline, and suspected MS, Nikki uncovered a complex web of infections including Borrelia, Bartonella, Babesia, Chlamydia pneumoniae, Epstein-Barr virus, and more. Now founder of the Alzheimer's Pathobiome Initiative, Nikki is leading a global consortium investigating how stealth pathogens may trigger neurodegeneration, immune dysfunction, and dementia. This conversation dives into intracellular infections, the Herxheimer reaction, amyloid as an antimicrobial response, sterile brain autopsies, precision medicine, and why federal health agencies are finally acknowledging Lyme disease as a serious public health crisis. If you or someone you love is dealing with chronic Lyme, long COVID, autoimmune illness, or cognitive decline, this episode may change how you see disease. The software-as-a-service (SaaS) sector is experiencing a slowdown, with average valuation multiples dropping from over 15 times revenue in 2021 to under 7 times in 2024, leading to market corrections, layoffs, and cost-cutting. SaaS entrepreneurs are shifting focus from rapid growth to profitability, efficient growth strategies, and reduced burn rates, resulting in healthier businesses. Product development is increasingly centered on authentic value, with startups addressing real business challenges gaining more loyal customers. Layoffs at large tech firms have increased the availability of skilled talent for startups. Despite the downturn, global SaaS adoption is rising, with Gartner projecting 18 percent growth in enterprise SaaS spending for 2024. Key opportunities include vertical SaaS solutions for specific industries, AI-driven products, and expansion into emerging markets. Most real estate investors think the only way to increase net operating income (NOI) is by raising rents or renovating units. But what if you could increase your rental property cash flow without raising rent at all? In this video, we break down the hidden cashflow strategies real estate investors use to increase NOI — even in slow markets where rent growth disappears. These operational strategies can help multifamily investors improve property performance, reduce vacancy, control expenses, and unlock additional income streams. If you own rental property or invest in apartment buildings, understanding how to increase NOI without relying on rent increases can dramatically improve your investment returns. In this episode, you'll learn: • How to increase NOI without raising rent • Why operational efficiency matters more in a slow real estate market • The biggest mistake investors make when rent growth stops • How reducing vacancy and turnover increases property cash flow • Expense optimization strategies used by professional asset managers • Hidden income opportunities most property owners overlook These strategies are commonly used by experienced multifamily investors to improve net operating income, increase property value, and stabilize cash flow. Since property values are largely determined by NOI, improving operations can significantly increase the value of your real estate investment. If you want to learn how to grow rental property income without major renovations, this video will show you the operational strategies that make the biggest difference. Someone tried to delete this file from Rex Heuermann's hard drives. Forensic analysts recovered it anyway. Tonight we're breaking down every section of what prosecutors call the Long Island Serial Killer's planning document for murder. The document was titled HK2002-04. Hidden on one of fifty-eight hard drives seized from the Massapequa Park basement. According to court documents, it allegedly contained eighty-seven details matching the methodology used on the Gilgo Beach victims.A "Supplies" section allegedly listed cutting tools, acid, tarps, and cat litter. A "Body Prep" section allegedly stated: "remove head and hands, remove ID marks like tattoos." A "Things to Remember" section allegedly contained lessons learned: "Hit harder... light rope broke under stress." References to specific pages in FBI profiler John Douglas's Mindhunter.Jessica Taylor's remains were found along Ocean Parkway with her head removed and tattoos mutilated. The document allegedly describes exactly that. When investigators returned to Rex Heuermann's home, they found infrared evidence of adhesive residue and push pins in the drop ceiling—exactly as allegedly described in the planning document. Now the family that lived with Rex for twenty-seven years is completely fractured. His wife Asa Ellerup still calls him her "hero." Described visiting him in jail as feeling like "a first date." Their daughter Victoria reached a different conclusion after speaking with BTK's daughter: "most likely" guilty.According to prosecutors, female hairs on multiple victims were allegedly consistent with DNA from both women. Neither is accused of involvement—prosecutors say the hair was likely transferred from clothing or the home. Both are victims. Just not of the same truth.Rex Heuermann has pleaded not guilty. Happy International Women's Day! One of Alice and Paola's favourite episodes of Design Emergency every year is the International Women's Day Special in which they celebrate some of the incredible female designers, who, despite their talent and achievements, haven't been given the recognition they richly deserve.Among them are the five Swedish women who founded and ran a School of Women's Citizenship in the 1920s to teach newly enfranchised Swedish female voters compatriots how to become responsible citizens; Leona Chalmers, the pioneering US designer of an early version of the mass manufactured menstrual cup; Rosa Grena Kliass, the first woman who was registered to practice landscape architecture in Brazil; and the futuristic 1960s French fashion designer, Michele Rosier. As well as paying tribute to these remarkable women, Paloa and Alice explore why, despite their talent, intelligence, skills and sensitivity, they and other female designers have been unfairly forgotten or marginalised. Misogyny is the obvious explanation, but many of them have also faced challenges due to their ethnicity, geography, sexuality, religions and other factors. At this turbulent time, when we urgently need the best possible designers to address our increasingly complex problems, we'll all suffer if these prejudices continue. We hope you'll enjoy this episode. You can find images of the Hidden Heroines' work that Alice and Paola describe on our Instagram @design.emergency. Are you the “fixer”? The old soul? The one everyone confides in? If you've always felt responsible for other people's emotions… If chaos makes your nervous system light up… If you feel calmer giving care than receiving it… You might be a Wounded Healer. In this episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Mayim & Jonathan break down the psychology, neuroscience, and archetype of the Wounded Healer — the empath, therapist, caregiver, parent, or high achiever who learned early in life that being needed was safer than being loved. We explore: - The myth of Chiron and the origin of the “wounded healer” - How childhood trauma, alcoholism, chronic illness, or emotional unpredictability shape hypervigilance - Neuroscience of empathy, mirror neurons, & nervous system entrainment - Why highly sensitive people (HSPs) & empaths often burn out - Hidden link between codependency & overgiving - Why you attract people who “need fixing” - How to set boundaries without losing your superpower - How you can learn to "care without carrying” Plus...Mayim and Jonathan take the 10-question Wounded Healer Quiz! This isn't about shame. It's about awareness. Your ability to read micro-signals, anticipate needs, and feel what others feel before they say it can be a profound gift. But if you don't consciously harness it, it can lead to burnout, emotional exhaustion, and relationship imbalance.
