Sue shares the story of how she and her husband left the security of PA in search of greater opportunities in NY.  Some of the stories from Sue's first few hard years in NY leave a heavy impact on Jina.

Jina discusses some of her early childhood memories and Sue talks about some of the worries that first generation holds for the second generation. 

Sue Yim is a first generation Korean immigrant who came to America in her late 20s.  On the first episode of the Convos with My Korean Mother podcast, Sue speaks with her Korean American daughter, Jina Yoo, about her immigration story.  

Sue and Jina talk about the Korean concept of jeong (정) and the American practice of baby sleep training.  

Sue and Jina share some of their experiences with racism. Being second generation Korean American, Jina discovers that she has a significantly different attitude towards racism than her mother, Sue, who was born in Korea.
