Based in Denver, Colorado, Discorsi is a podcast created by John C. Ronquillo. "Discorsi," the Italian word for "discourses" or "talks," focuses on interviews with individuals who are leading creative, academic, and cultural endeavors, and all sorts of things in between.
In this episode, we travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to talk with Haley Buzzard Hamilton, an account executive working in development with the Tulsa Area United Way. Haley recounts her childhood in rural northeastern Oklahoma along with her education journey and other life moments that shaped her views on leadership in Indian Country. She further recounts how she is now able to leverage that knowledge in working with tribes in her career today.
In this episode, John sits and talks with Terrell Iron Shell, Mia Sage Stevens, Kalvin Sanchez, Jasilyn Charger, Danny Grassrope, and Wilma Steele, all of the International Indigenous Youth Council, about their work and activism in the Standing Rock Camp to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline.
