In this episode, David speaks with Tina Taylor, a Syzygy trainer, IFS Institute assistant trainer, and contributor to IFS Informed EMDR. Together, they explore the intersection of IFS, EMDR, pain, dissociation, and safety in trauma healing. Tina shares how EMDR was instrumental in addressing her social anxiety, and how IFS later helped her heal legacy burdens connected to that anxiety. This layered healing highlights how different models can work together to address both symptoms and deeper roots. Tina offers a powerful theme when working with pain: “Pain is communication.” Rather than something to eliminate or override, pain can be understood as a message from parts of the system. Some parts may amplify pain to be heard, while others attempt to suppress or escape it. IFS allows us to slow down and listen to what pain is asking for. The conversation also explores dissociation and Dissociative Identity Disorder. Tina reflects on how IFS can look different when working with highly dissociative systems and why goals and pacing matter deeply in this work. While there are clinicians integrating IFS with dissociation, there is currently no dedicated IFS Institute training focused specifically on DID, beyond the Level 2 trauma track. David and Tina discuss how dissociation itself can be understood as a meaningful communication from the system. The work begins not with pushing toward exiles, but with safety, stability, and strengthening managers so the system can regulate more evenly. A key takeaway is the importance of cultivating Self energy as a form of resourcing. Tina notes that the amount of Self needed, the “critical mass of Self,” is relative to the intensity of the burden being held. Protectors often know what the system is ready for, and IFS invites us to trust them. As Tina emphasizes, IFS gives us a simple but profound instruction: “Just ask.”
We've all heard it called a sifting—the language that sometimes surfaces when someone is struggling or steps away from the Church. Wheat from tares, sheep from goats, a sorting in the last days that reveals truly elect. But today, our good friend and contributor Jeff Strong is back to invite us into a deeper reflection on that idea—and what he sees as the more essential question: Who is the Church for?Jeff shares how the way we answer that question has real implications—shaping how we respond to difference, and how we create (or close off) spaces for spiritual growth, belonging, and trust. In this conversation, he also brings new and fascinating findings from his large-scale survey of Latter-day Saints. Jeff introduces a framework of spiritual segments that emerged from the data—types like Seekers, Protectors, Cultivators, and more. It's illuminating to see yourself in one of these groups—but maybe even more powerful to recognize how others might experience the same Church culture in radically different ways.He reflects on the tension people feel when their deepest values don't seem to match what's emphasized in their church experience. And he offers a way through that tension: wherever you fit, we each face the challenge to let go of fear—because fear, more than anything else, is what drives us apart.Ultimately, this conversation isn't about disaffiliation or activity—it's about relationships. It's about how we respond to differences, how we hold tension as a community, and whether we're building a church culture that reflects the expansive, welcoming love of Christ. And just a heads up: the story Jeff tells toward the end might sound familiar––in fact, Sister Dennis used it in conference this year, though we recorded this episode before conference, so we didn't tie it in at the time. Also, there are some really interesting graphs and charts that Jeff mentions that are in the YouTube version of this conversation if you'd like to watch this one instead, or you can search the episode on faithmatters.org and see them there.Listen to the audiobook of The Bible Storybook by Sarah and Josh Sabey in Scripture Stories for Little Saints on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. In our series on Angels, we have discovered that there are different categories and job descriptions given in reference to angels. Today let's look at a few things. One, they worship God, two, they bring specific instructions at times to the plans that God has for man, and three, they protect us, as the Bible says, "He will give His angels Charge over thee to keep you in all your ways." Let's talk about it.

Exiles are the parts of ourselves that carry deep emotional pain and vulnerability, often pushed away by our protective mechanisms to help us cope with overwhelming experiences. Tim emphasizes the importance of recognizing these exiled parts, which can manifest as feelings of shame, grief, or rejection, and how they influence our current behaviors and reactions. He shares personal anecdotes to illustrate how these exiles can be approached with compassion rather than criticism, allowing for healing and integration into our broader self-system.Tim also discusses the role of 'protectors,' the parts of us that work tirelessly to shield our exiles from pain. These protectors may manifest as perfectionism, over-functioning, or numbing behaviors. He highlights that while these protectors are often seen as problematic, they are actually devoted guardians trying to keep us safe. The episode encourages listeners to gently engage with their exiles, fostering a sense of safety and connection, which can lead to a more harmonious internal experience. Tim concludes with practical steps for listeners to begin this journey of self-discovery and healing.KeywordsInternal Family Systems, exiles, protectors, emotional healing, self-compassion, mental health, Tim Fortescue, IFS Meditations, personal growth, inner childTakeawaysExiles carry our deepest pain and vulnerability.Protectors are devoted guardians, not just problematic parts.Approaching exiles gently is a radical act of compassion.Exiles need to be met on their own terms, not forced into the light.Building trust with protectors allows for healing of exiled parts.Sound bites"Exiles don't need to be dragged into the light.""Approaching exiles gently is itself, a radical act.""It makes sense that some parts had to go underground."Chapters00:00 Introduction to IFS and Exiles00:46 Understanding Exiles and Their Impact05:01 The Role of Protectors in Our System07:53 Personal Story: Encountering My Exiles12:41 Gentle Approaches to Healing Exiles15:46 Practical Steps for Self-Discovery and Healing

Kelp forests are some of the most important habitats in coastal waters around the world. They provide breeding grounds for fish and shellfish, and protect juveniles from predators. They absorb carbon dioxide, which helps control climate change. But the forests are vanishing—they're being devoured by sea urchins. In part, that's because the forests are losing their protectors. In New Zealand, one of those protectors is rock lobsters—known locally as kōura. But they're vanishing, too, as the result of overfishing. Kōura are different from the lobsters in the United States—they don't have the big claws, and their bodies are spikier. Sea urchins are among their favorite prey. So a healthy population keeps the urchins in check—and the kelp beds lush. Much of New Zealand is bordered by big beds of kelp. They're populated by two main species. One of them is the fastest-growing organism on Earth—it can grow by more than two feet in a single day. But warming oceans have damaged some of those beds. Sea urchins like the warmer waters, so they move in and feast on the weakened kelp. Commercial fishing operations began harvesting huge numbers of kōura in the early 1900s. Today, there are some restrictions—including complete bans in marine reserves. Even so, the population continues to drop. With fewer kōura, urchins not only devour the kelp, they can block any recovery—unmolested by the one-time protectors of the forests. If you've ever wondered how spiritual protection actually works—and why Jesus repeatedly cast out "unclean spirits"—this video is your playbook. We break down the most common protectors (dragons, guardian angels, hawks, shapeshifters, turtles, unicorns… yes, really), the attacks they're built to handle (infiltrators, walk-ins, remote strikes), and the modern hygiene you need to keep your energy sealed. Here's the deal: the more you understand the system, the less you fear it and the better your decisions become. What you'll learn: Why guardian angels are only the beginning—and which protectors extend range, block ambushes, or vault your gifts. How "infiltrators" cripple channels (and why calling on Jesus to expel them works). Walk-ins: what they really are, the red flags, and why discernment protects your future. The close-down protocol that actually holds (seal → boring buffer → re-seal). A quick history gut-check (Council of Nicaea) so you don't get spiritually duped this season. If John Wick and Judge Dredd loved each other very much… Saga of the Forgotten Warrior By: Larry Correia 1- Son of the Black Sword 2- House of Assassins 3- Destroyer of Worlds 4- Tower of Silence 5- Graveyard of Demons 6- Heart of the Mountain Briefly, what is this series about? The series is set on the continent of Lok, in a world inspired by feudal India and Southeast Asia, meaning that there are castes, and outside of that, the casteless, who are literal non-people. The story follows Ashok Vadal, a pitiless "Protector of the Law". The Order of the Protectors is like a branch of elite special forces, called in when the normal constabulary, or even the normal military is insufficient. Even among these elite warriors Ashok stands out as being particularly deadly because he bears one of the world's twelve sentient magical swords. Much of the law concerns the status of the first caste and the casteless' lack of status. But it also forbids religion, illegal magic, and demons leaving the sea. The ocean is full of demons, and they don't have much regard for the law, so Ashok spends much of his time killing them. Given that the ocean is the exclusive domain of the demons, all status consists in living far away from it, and all insults reference the ocean in some way. "Saltwater!" Or calling someone a "Fisheater." Who should read this series? Much of my discussion below will concern this very question, but as a tl;dr you should definitely like it if you like Correia's other stuff. Also if you like fast moving action heavy fantasy series that are done, I would also recommend it. Specific thoughts: How this fantasy series compares to other fantasy series

On this episode of The Protectors, Mike and Mark are joined by Sarasota Police Detectives Andrew Rowe and Carlos Verdoni—two investigators who've been uncovering one of the most surprising types of organized fraud happening today. We first met Andrew and Carlos at the 2025 Oklahoma Conference, and their story stuck with us. What started with a simple fraud report quickly led to something much bigger—a network of prison-based gangs running multimillion-dollar scams that stretched across states and into the world of cryptocurrency. It's a story about connection, coordination, and collaboration—law enforcement across the country working together to shut down a scheme run from behind bars, and the detectives who helped bring it all to light. The Protectors Podcast - Where Crime Meets Consequence.GUEST CONTACT INFO:Detective Andrew Rowe LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrew-rowe-bb8893270/Detective Carlos Verdoni LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/carlos-verdoni-cfci-41ab1a83/________________________________IAFCI CONTACT INFO:IAFCI Website: https://iafci.org/Phone: 916-939-5000Advertising Opportunities and Guest Appearance: IAFCIProtectorspodcast@gmail.com
Tom Walton is a Christ follower, husband, and passionate outdoorsman. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Tom has been in law enforcement for 13 years and is currently a detective and SWAT team member. He has also guided a few hunting and fishing trips in his home state of Idaho. Over the last 13 years, Tom has been involved in numerous critical and traumatic incidents. His law enforcement career has put a strain on his life and marriage. Thankfully, Tom turned to Christ and the church for help. With he and his wife in a much healthier place mentally and spiritually, he has become passionate about helping his fellow First Responders and Veterans find peace and healing. Prayers for guidance led him to meet Nate and Becky Harder, the founders of Protector's Peak Ministries. Protector's Peak is a non-profit organization located on the 220 acre Shilo Ranch in Calder, ID. Protector's Peak provides a place for our nations hero servants and their families to find rest, healing, and reconnection with God through their mountain retreats. Tom is excited to continue volunteering at Protector's Peak and has recently accepted a board position where he hopes to serve his Kingdom purpose. www.protectorspeak.com www.taurususa.com www.cva.com www.himtnjerky.com www.murrelloptics.com www.jumpmedic.com www.christianoutdoors.org www.citrusafe.com www.elimishieldhunt.com www.mossyoak.com

Jeffrey Epstein's connections to the world of science were not accidental — they were strategic. He courted some of the most brilliant minds at Harvard, MIT, and other elite institutions, presenting himself as a patron of innovation and philanthropy. Epstein used his fortune to endow programs, fund research, and host lavish dinners that mixed Nobel laureates with billionaires. Many of these “men with the pocket protectors” — physicists, geneticists, and computer scientists — were enticed by his charm and his promise of funding. They justified their proximity to him as a necessary evil for the sake of their research, conveniently ignoring the whispers about his criminal past. Even after his 2008 conviction, Epstein's Rolodex of scientists remained active, his money still circulating through institutions that should have known better. In truth, Epstein exploited the intellectual vanity of academia. He loved surrounding himself with geniuses because it elevated his own image — transforming a convicted sex offender into a “visionary benefactor.” Meanwhile, many of those scientists turned a blind eye, preferring the security of his checks to the discomfort of their conscience. Harvard, for instance, accepted millions from Epstein even after his conviction, and prominent figures like Martin Nowak and George Church maintained ties long past the point of plausible ignorance. The relationship was mutually parasitic: Epstein gained legitimacy and access to powerful networks, while the scientists gained funding and proximity to his wealth. It was the perfect marriage of intellect and moral cowardice, wrapped in the language of progress.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com
