Welcome to Everybody Needs a Water Buffalo hosted by Joyce Jackson from the Student Ministry at Lifebridge Church. On this podcast, Joyce interviews current Student Leaders and we get to listen to incredible stories behind each of their lives! In the midst of the busyness of our weeks, most of our leaders don't get to know each other as much as they would like to. That is why we created this podcast in the first place, to bridge this gap so we could know each other better. As a church, we are better together!
Today, you’ll get to meet Kaprece Stallings, one of our amazing 9th grade girls leaders. She is a mental health counselor by trade so wisdom and insight just naturally flows out of her as she speaks. In this conversation she openly shares about the highs and lows of her life and also her journey in embracing God’s grace over his laws, and how that change has impacted different areas of her life. I really think she’s a gem so I hope you’ll enjoy this as much as I have! ...Listen or SUBSCRIBE on Apple Podcast, Google Play, or download here: https://www.podbean.com/eu/pb-p2ikn-dfd9b8...
Hey friends, we are bringing you the awesome Kaitie Loebig this week! Most of you know Kaitie from following her into worship on Sunday morning, as one of our 6th grade girls leaders, or just as one of the most authentic, beautiful human beings you've met. She grew up in the Catholic Church but God grabbed hold of her in high school and whetter her appetite for worshipping Him in a powerful way. He even gave her the desire to be a worship leader before she knew what that was! Our church and community are truly better because Kaitie is in it and I hope you'll get to know her better through this conversation! Oh btw, this podcast was recorded a while back, so you'll get to reminisce the pre-pandemic "old days" as we chat about meeting at the church, the worship center, and all the good ol' glorious things :)
#blackouttuesdayWe are releasing this as a special episode in response to everything surrounding the death of Mr. George Floyd last week. Racism is such a touchy subject, but we do want to start a conversation to bring more understanding to the subject. Many of you know, Joe Jackson, my husband and Student Pastor here at Lifebridge Church Orlando is African American. In light of all that, I have brought him onto the show and we talk candidly on this episode about the issue of race while diving deeper into his story. Our hope is to start the conversation, offer another perspective and encourage our listeners to engage in the topic of racial diversity in a constructive way.
Are you adventurous and brave? If so, you would LOVE our feature leader this week. Cissy Chan (my awesome sister!!!) volunteered as the 9th grade girls leader last year and went to Passion Camp with us. She recently relocated to another country in Asia as a missionary, but we recorded this when she was visiting us earlier this year. In this episode, she shares openly about her journey of walking out the true calling and passion of her life, the ups and downs and the whole works. Her story is anything but normal, and her courage to follow God wherever He calls is such an inspiration to us all. Tune in, have a listen, and show her some love at Cissy Chan on FB or @powerintruth on IG!...Listen & Subscribe on Apple Podcast (iTunes) or Google Podcast every MONDAY!...
Remember Sweet T from Episode 1? This week, we get to hear from Mr. B (Bruce Bemiss), none other than Sweet T's amazing husband and our 7th grade boys leader! It literally took Joe and I a full year to convince him that he would be a great student leader. From veteran firefighter to Macarena dancer to Jesus follower, Mr. B brings so much life experience, depth and grace to our team. His faith in God is so real and he shares it with those around him with no pretense at all. We are so lucky to have him and I'm sure our 7th grade (soon to be 8th!) boys would all say the same.As you listen to this episode this week, may I ask that you keep Mr. B and Sweet T in prayer? Mr. B is due to start another vigorous round of treatment for the cancer in his body starting next week for 6 weeks. Let's go to Jesus on his behalf and contend for full healing and recovery, for Jesus is bigger than cancer. We love you, Mr. B!!!Listen and SUBSCRIBE on: Apple Podcasts (iTunes) or Google Play
First off, HAPPY Mother's Day to all the moms out there! Since it's Mother's Day this week, we decided to release this episode a day early to celebrate the occasion. It's not a coincidence that Mara is one of the favorite #momgoal for me and many others, she also reminisces about her mom fondly on this interview which made it extra special. To know Mara is to love her. She has been a faithful student leader with us ever since we started at Lifebridge 3 years ago, and has brought so much laughter and life to our community. On this interview we talk about some of her favorite things such as running Marathons, and explored a bit of her childhood story. Although times weren't always easy, Mara was keenly aware of God's presence and protection even from a young age, which brought her through thick and thin times.
Jake Lawrence is one of our newer student leaders and a creative at heart. In this episode he shares with us parts of his creative journey and he also opens up about a difficult season he experienced as a middle school student. If you're a student or know of a student who could use some hope and encouragement, make sure you tune in and have a listen!
Join us on a fun conversation with our very own Worship Pastor, Justin Melton! We see Justin a lot on stage and nowadays, on the big screen at home. It's really a special treat for all of us to hear him talk a bit about his life outside of the music and worship arena. In this episode, we get to get a glimpse into his growing up years in a small town in GA, important heroes who helped shape the man he is today, and also times when he *almost* got into trouble as a teenager..can you imagine? You don't want to miss this! Listen and Subscribe to Everybody Needs a Water Buffalo on:Apple Podcast (iTunes)Google PodcastYoutube (Lifebridgeyth)
Terri (or more affectionately known as "Sweet T") is one of those people who we hunted down to be on our team. She is one of our 9th grade girl leaders and are loved by all who know her. Did you know that she is an entrepreneur and has owned an aerobic dance studio? A creative and free spirit at heart, Sweet T is a true gem. Come listen as she shares a bit of her journey of the highs and lows of her life and impart some much needed wisdom for us all!
Welcome to the FIRST episode of the Everybody Needs a Water Buffalo podcast! Our Student Pastor Joe Jackson (aka my husband!) and I get to kick off this project by talking about our hearts behind the podcast and why we do what we do. Enjoy and let me know what you think!
