    Well you asked and I listened. After getting numerous messages asking for a race caller to come on the Podcast, episode 6 features none other than legendary race caller, Bryan Martin. Bryan has been involved in the industry for over 45 years, he's love for all things racing stems back to a 1956 race call which he heard on the radio in his living room of his childhood home. After working his way through the radio ranks, Bryan has had the honour of calling 29 Melbourne Cups, as well as calling races in over 8 countries worldwide, including the famous 1990 Japan Cup where he calls home Australian horse Better Loosen Up with the famous line"...and Better Loosen Up wins for Australia." Bryan has been the recipient of a number of awards and none bigger than his Order Of Australia Medal for his work on radio as well as his work with charities. He was one of the driving force behind the Living Legends farm in Melbourne, where amongst a number of legendary horses, one of the greats of the turf Fields Of Omagh resides. This horse is special to Bryan, as he was part owner and syndicate manager of "FOO' which went on to race in 5 Cox Plates winning 2 of them. Bryan now runs the Bryan Martin Racing Club where he purchases shares in horses and brings 20 owners together and managers the syndicate. Be sure to keep an eye out for shares purchased by Bryan in the future, and for now enjoy the episode !

    On episode 5 of the 'From The Horse's Mouth Podcast' I chat with former champion jockey, Clare Lindop. We talk about growing up in Wangoom and how she originally got interested in horses by riding at St Mary's Pony Farm. Clare then became an apprentice jockey in 1994 before eventually graduating to a senior rider in 2000. We chat about her early career and touch on some of her most famous rides, including her first Melbourne Cup ride in 2003 abroad Debben, in doing so, becoming the first Australian female jockey to ride in the Melbourne Cup. In another record breaking effort, Clare became the first Australian Female jockey to win a Group 1 race with Exalted Time in the 2006 Adelaide Cup. In 2008 Clare won the VRC Derby with South Australian horse 'Rebel Raider' at odds of 150-1! Clare is one of the most successful Australian jockeys and it was an absolute honour to be able to sit down and chat to her about her amazing career. We also touch on the tough year he has had with his stables having to shut down due to the devastating bushfires and the adverse effects of the Coronavirus and what it has meant for his staff and stable.     On this episode I speak with champion jockey, media personality and zookeeper Chris Symons. We chat about about his life, including his school days, where and why he came to ride horses, struggling with his riding ability early on and going to America for a 6 month riding stint. We also touch on his biggest win which happened to be on his wedding day, and an unusual injury which opened the door to some media appearances. We touch on his Spring Carnival role with Kevin from Seven and how this led to him being involved in the production for 'Ride Like A Girl.' Chris's passion for animals has now translated to The Funky Farm which is run by himself, his wife (Sam) and daughter (Ziva) with the zoo providing opportunities for people with disabilities and the general public to interact with animals. Chris has a very positive outlook on life and he shares his opinions with passion. It's a great listen and I hope you enjoy!
