In light of the current economic crisis, charities face greater pressure as they strive to deliver essential services and meet growing demand for the communities they serve. In this episode we take a look at the effects of the cost of living crisis on local communities, and the ever-increasing demand for philanthropic giving. We're also joined by Azim Kidwai, CEO of Mercy Mission and newly elected Chair of GiveBradford to share his experience of giving within his role in Bradford and Indi Elcock, project coordinator from The Anchor Project who engage with and support some the most marginalised, vulnerable and isolated people in inner-city Bradford, to improve community wellbeing and integration.A full transcript of this episode can be found here.GiveBradford distributes vital grants and gives trusted advice to Community Organisations across the District to influence positive change. A call to support a positive future for Bradford Communities

As society emerges from ongoing challenges and economic uncertainty, GiveBradford are calling on businesses and individuals who want to experience real social change and help Community Organisations in a new way, by empowering them to build a sustainable future. In this episode, we'll be talking about a new fund recently launched by GiveBradford focusing on supporting the resilience of community organisations across our District. Most of the groups that we fund don't have the infrastructure or capacity to raise funds directly from companies, individuals, and national foundations. We play a vital role in connecting people who want to give with groups who can utilise this money to create real social change in the place they love. That lack of capacity is exactly why we are focusing The Bradford Fund on resilience. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Community Organisations were already in demonstrable need of flexible, multi-year funding, the impact of the pandemic on both their finances and their delivery has made that need all the greater and we think it's our responsibility as a Community Foundation to broker in funds that meet that need. We're joined by Craig Burton, Chair of GiveBradford, Kim Shutler, Chief Executive of The Cellar Trust and Haqueq Siddique from West Bowling Youth Initiative, a Community Organisation supported through The Bradford Fund.A full transcript of this podcast can be found here.If you'd like to talk about getting involved in The Bradford fund, get in touch with our team by emailing givebradford@leedscf.org.uk or donate directly here. Welcome to our second episode of our ‘GiveLoveBradford' podcast.  In this episode we'll be joined by Luke Wolstenholme, son of Manjit Wolstenholme.  Manjit Wolstenholme was born in India and went to school in Wolverhampton. Her life story was one of building the skills and perseverance to break down barriers to succeed in business. Manjit became the youngest woman to head an investment bank in London and went on to become the first woman from an ethnic minority background to chair and lead a FTSE 100 company – Provident Financial based in Bradford. With support from Provident Financial Group, Manjit's family established the Manjit Wolstenholme Fund which has distributed £79,634 to 9 groups. The fund was launched to honour Manjit with the aim of supporting children and young people in disadvantaged areas of Bradford to achieve their potential by providing educational and aspirational opportunities. Manjit's own experiences meant she believed passionately that no-one should be denied the chance to achieve their true potential as a result of their background or where they live.We were also joined Bradford Community Broadcasting and Keighley Association for Women's and Children's Centre, two organisations supported through the Fund who share the impact of the fund on the young people they support.A full transcript of the podcast can be found here.GiveBradford, is an organisation that supports thousands of charities and voluntary groups across Bradford, addressing inequalities.  We invest in these groups by distributing grants and sharing advice – acting as a catalyst for positive change. Learn more about GiveBradford and subscribe to our newsletter here: https://www.givebradford.org.uk/stay-in-touch/Follow us on Twitter and Instagram @GiveBradford.
