In light of the current economic crisis, charities face greater pressure as they strive to deliver essential services and meet growing demand for the communities they serve. In this episode we take a look at the effects of the cost of living crisis on local communities, and the ever-increasing demand for philanthropic giving. We're also joined by Azim Kidwai, CEO of Mercy Mission and newly elected Chair of GiveBradford to share his experience of giving within his role in Bradford and Indi Elcock, project coordinator from The Anchor Project who engage with and support some the most marginalised, vulnerable and isolated people in inner-city Bradford, to improve community wellbeing and integration.A full transcript of this episode can be found here.GiveBradford distributes vital grants and gives trusted advice to Community Organisations across the District to influence positive change. Driven by creating meaningful social impact for hundreds of local people every year.GiveBradford generates philanthropic giving and leverages statutory funding to deliver grants that address specific challenges. This opens up vulnerable and often marginalised communities to a wealth of opportunities including skills, health, education, culture and employment. Our work goes beyond funding alone as it also provides resources that Community Organisations would otherwise struggle to access. As an organisation focused on creating a fair and inclusive society, GiveBradford works alongside each group to address inequalities and create opportunities.Contact GiveBradford Call us on 01274 037 300 Email us at info@givebradford.org.uk Tweet us at @GiveBradford Sign up to our newsletter here

Former Gov. Goerge Pataki - Mercy mission to Ukraine. Heating units for winter. by John Catsimatidis
Worship from Shirley Baptist Church, Shirley, Solihull, UK for Sunday October 2, 2022. Over the past four weeks Mat has shared on the theme of ‘Togetherness in Christ'. This Sunday he adds an extra talk with the title ‘Together in God's Mission'. However, don't think that this means mission should be considered an added extra. No! Rather, mission is rooted in the very heart and character of God. This can be seen when we consider the letter to Philippians as a whole, as it is a letter that calls us to be together in mission, demonstrating and declaring the hope of Jesus to a hurting and often hopeless world. And in support of this we hear from our global mission partner Charly Tom as he updates us on the exciting things the Lord is doing through ‘Mercy Mission' in India.

The fourth season of Clone Wars is here, and unfortunately, it kicks off with a bubbling whimper. On the watery world of Mon Cala, the already fraught relationship between its two key cultures is in crisis when the planet's king dies. Now, his son, a child with no skill in command, leadership, or much of anything, is due to inherit the throne despite the anti-monarchist protestations of many of his subjects. Where do the Jedi fit into this? Well, they're on Mon Cala to protect the monarchy of course. “Shadow Warrior” (The Clone Wars Season 4.4) is one giant, beautiful retribution for Star Wars' treatment of the Gungans thus far. As Jar Jar is forced to impersonate Boss Lyonie to keep his people from going to war against the Naboo, we (finally) get to see the Gungans step into the light. We get fierce Gungan warriors, ancestral Gungan magic, a fantastic callback to Padmé's switcheroos in the Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones — and the power of friendship, which runs through it all. Justice for Jar Jar. Justice for the Gungans. May we all hold ourselves to their standards. Watching along with us? Next week, we're getting front seat tickets to R2 and C3PO's technicolor adventure in The Clone Wars 4.5–6, “Mercy Mission” and “Nomad Droid.” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/growingupskywalker/message
In this episode, the divas discuss The Clone Wars episodes "Mercy Mission" (s4e5) and "Nomad Droids" (s4e6). Before they get into the episode, Chris and Stef get on a short rant about how they felt about Disney Plus day. After their rant, the divas discuss a silly group of episodes focused on our favorite droids: R2D2 and C3PO. Learn how Stef and Chris "evolved" on these episodes when they first saw these episodes. LOTS of things happen in these episodes, and the divas go through ALL OF IT!

For far too long the church has been known for what it is against and that has in some ways alienated the world around us. They need to know that God and we are For them, not against them! Join us for a 3 part series entitled For, beginning June 27 and ending July 11th with a day of meal packing to feed people who struggle with hunger. This is going to be an incredible day of worship as we serve. Just show up at one of our service times and we'll walk you through the details of how you can prepare a meal for those who need it. We hope you can worship with us throughout this series as we discover that God is for us so that we can be For God and we can be For others. Today we had 4 Guest Speakers who shared about our partners for the meal packing we did, and how it was going to impact the people who received the food we put together for them. Richie Phillips spoke about IDES (International Disaster Emergency Services)and their ministry for Jesus in the World. Then we had Robert Lawson speak about Thrivent Financial, which were key to putting the funding together for the day. We also welcomed Diana Owens with Waves of Mercy Mission from Haiti who shared with us about the difference these meals make in the lives of those who receive them. After Diana spoke we had Jody England from IDES who facilitated the day come and share as we moved into the final stages of our packing time. Finally, we had Randy come up and talk to us about the meal pack at the end of the service as we finished our first meal pack. What an incredible day it was, and what a powerful impact we had on the world in the name of Jesus!
