What happens when a theologian and an evolutionary biologist walk into a lab together—one asking questions about God through the strange world of microbes, the other studying the tiny ecosystems in our armpits and sourdough starters? In this episode, we hear the answer through the story of Aminah Al-Attas Bradford, a theologian who found herself researching yeast in the ecology lab of Rob Dunn, a biologist known for uncovering the microbial life all around us. Their collaboration leads to surprising questions about dust, microbes, matter, and meaning, and shows what can happen when science and theology meet in the middle in curious, unshielded conversation. The gap between what you're charging and what you're worth isn't just about money - it's about respect, boundaries, and the value you place on your own expertise. As our guest Joanne Bradford proves in our final Best Of episode, sometimes the difference between struggling and thriving is simply having the courage to add a zero and see what happens. Your expertise has value. Your time has value. Stop apologizing for that and start getting paid accordingly.Join us as we dive deep into pricing psychology, negotiation strategies, and the mindset shifts needed to finally get paid what you're worth. Joanne shares the revolutionary "add a zero" technique that helped one consultant jump from $10,000 to $85,000 for the same project!Key Takeaways:The importance of asking for higher prices and negotiating.Strategies for pricing and packaging services to get serious commitments from clients. The challenges of service-based businesses, like over-servicing and chasing clients, and the need to set clear boundaries. The significance of understanding your target audience and who is willing to pay for your services, rather than trying to appeal to everyone. The value of having a solid financial plan, being aware of personal finances, and having important documents like wills and trusts in place.Joanne Says: You're Not Too F***ing Old! In the spring of 2010, the city of Bradford was shaken by a series of disappearances that struck at the very heart of its community. Three women, each with their own struggles and dreams, vanished within the space of a year, leaving their families desperate for answers and police scrambling to find a connection.Susan Rushworth, Shelley Armitage, and Suzanne Blamires' lives - and ultimately their deaths - would reveal something far darker lurking in plain sight. When CCTV captured Suzanne's final, desperate moments, investigators were led to a quiet flat that hid horrors beyond imagination. What they uncovered not only exposed a remorseless killer, but also raised chilling questions about whether more victims remain unknown to this day.Join my Patreon community at patreon.com/britishmurders for exclusive perks, including early access to ad-free episodes, exclusive episodes and content, exciting giveaways, and welcome goodies! Rather than picking yourself to pieces, find ways to accept your looks. Season 9, Episode 18 of PSA: The Mental Health Podcast dives deep into the emotional burnout, job market frustration, and silent battles faced by young millennial men. Featuring Glenn Bradford, creator of the Tough Enough brand, this episode doesn't sugarcoat the reality: sometimes it really feels like having the degrees, certifications, and all the “right” moves still isn't enough to get a callback — and no, it's not just you. Glenn and Izzy get real about what it's like to apply for over 500 jobs, rack up rejection emails in under 15 minutes, and feel like you've done everything right — from rewriting your resume for ATS scanners to writing the “white woman letters” that supposedly get attention — and still end up unemployed, underpaid, or undervalued. If you've ever felt like the system was rigged, especially as a Black man being told by your parents you “must be the problem,” this one's for you. From beefing with Indeed (because who actually gets a job from there?) to facing job market stagnation where no raises, no promotions, and no opportunity feel like the new normal — Glenn shares how he's navigating entrepreneurship, corporate letdowns, and keeping his mental peace in a season of waiting. This episode is also about learning how to hold your head high when the world makes you feel disposable. It's about keeping it real — admitting when you're in a drought, but choosing to stay positive and keep tweaking your approach. Because corporate broke and entrepreneur broke are two different struggles, but both can lead to depression, disconnection, and a dangerous loss of self-worth if you're not careful. Glenn reminds us that “everything is an interview,” whether it's a free project or a content shoot for exposure. And sometimes, relationships — not résumés — open doors. Whether you're hustling for referrals on LinkedIn or trying to stack certifications just to feel employable, this episode is a raw, motivating look at surviving career limbo, choosing peace over panic, and staying tough enough to keep going.Listen if you're tired of hearing "just network" when your phone stays dry, you're wondering if you're the only one overeducated and underemployed, you're trying to decide whether to keep applying or just build your own thing, or you need a laugh, a truth bomb, and a reminder that you're not crazy — this system is broken.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/p-s-a-the-mental-health-podcast--5520511/support.TrustBuilder Package
There's nothing more dramatic than a game which is won or lost in the last meaningful moment. These are the ones which live longest in the memory for fans and players alike and which bring both tears of joy and despair in equal measure. And, when it's on the biggest stage, those memories last a lifetime. Some are lifted by the iconic commentary that sits alongside them. “Long fancies it, Long fancies it. It's wide to West, it's wide to West... ” makes the hairs on the back of the neck stand up to this day as Chris Joynt finished off an incredibly desperate last play for St Helens against Bradford that ultimately led to a Grand Final victory.Occasionally, these dramatic endings also settle city rivalries. David Hodgson for Rovers against FC at Magic Weekend and Chris Green the other way around the following year to equal the score for example. Whilst others have more major consequence, such as Shaun Johnson breaking English hearts at Wembley in the World Cup semi-final or Gareth O'Brien's huge drop-goal in the Million Pound Game which capped off an incredible comeback by Salford in golden point extra-time.Then there's the drama of the helicopter hovering over the Pennines, waiting to see where the trophy was heading, when Ryan Hall's last second try for Leeds at Huddersfield secured the League Leaders' Shield and completed part two of the Rhinos treble campaign. While Jack Welsby's try on the hooter for his home town club against their fiercest rivals in the Covid hit Grand Final was equally dramatic despite hardly anyone being there to witness it. The players waited anxiously for the video referee to check it was a try and when confirmed went absolutely wild, even though there was no-one else there to celebrate with them! The more personal the occasion, the more memorable is the ending, and there's absolutely nothing worse than losing that way, but nothing beats winning like that either.

This week on the Tough Girl Podcast, we welcome Emma Wilkinson—a freelance health journalist, ultra runner, mother of three, and co-author of the empowering book Ultra Women: The Trailblazers Defying Sexism in Sport. Emma's journey into ultra running didn't begin until her 40s, but once she discovered the joy of going long and slow, there was no turning back. In this honest and motivating conversation, Emma shares how she went from half marathons and road running to self-created 100K adventures in the mountains of Snowdonia. Alongside fellow runner and friend Lily Canter, she set out to research and write Ultra Women, a book that celebrates female endurance athletes and dives into the science, stories, and social constructs around women in ultra sport. Emma talks openly about what inspired the book, how she balanced full-time work, parenting, and running while writing it, and what she learned about the unique strengths women bring to endurance challenges—especially around fatigue resistance, pain management, and mental toughness. If you've ever doubted your capabilities, struggled with self-identifying as a “runner,” or wondered if your body was made for ultras—this episode is for you. Emma's message is simple and powerful: don't put limits on yourself—just give it a go. New episodes of the Tough Girl Podcast drop every Tuesday at 7 AM (UK time)! What if one forgotten law changed the course of history — and we ignored its lesson? In this explosive interview, Matthew Syed – bestselling author, Times columnist, BBC broadcaster and former Olympian – joins Andrew Gold on Heretics to uncover the shocking truth about cousin marriage, tribalism, immigration, and the hidden ban that built Britain. From the 6th-century ban on cousin marriage that forced people to look beyond their tribe, to today's siloed communities in places like Rochdale and Bradford, Syed argues that ignoring these lessons has left Britain vulnerable. We dive into immigration policy, Labour's failures, the rise of cultural relativism, and why banning cousin marriage may be the only answer left. Agency Nation Radio - Insurance Marketing, Sales and Technology
On this episode of Agency Nation Radio, we meet John Bradford, founder & CEO of PetScreening in Charlotte, North Carolina. Bradford is on a mission to make life better for pets. After starting out in the property management world—first managing his own rental units, then expanding to investor portfolios—he saw firsthand how pet ownership impacted housing. That insight led him to launch PetScreening, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that helps streamline offering pet and renters insurance. At the heart of it is the proprietary FIDO Score™, a data-driven tool to assess pets more fairly than outdated breed restrictions. Today, the platform is used by about 1 in 7 rental units in the U.S. “Our goal is to help change hearts and open eyes when it comes to breed restrictions,” Bradford says. “We can't force anyone to accept every dog, but we can give them the data to make better decisions.” Agency Nation Radio is where insurance professionals turn on the mic and share unscripted stories about leadership, technology, marketing, success and failure—stories that helped make them the professionals they are today. From Main Street USA to the pages of Independent Agent magazine—we've got the stories you want to hear. For more, catch Agency Nation Radio on your favorite streaming platform or visit iamagazine.com/category/podcasts. Bradford was also featured in the August issue of Independent Agent. Luke Jerram creates spectacular art installations all over the world. He reached millions of people with his work Play Me, I'm Yours, inviting anyone to make music on the 2,000 pianos he had placed on the streets of more than 70 cities. He has also created large sculptures of the moon, the planet Mars and the sun, which were suspended in spaces like cathedrals so that visitors could admire the celestial bodies up close. Julian May follows the creation of the Jerram's latest work, made for Bradford, this year's UK City of Culture. A Good Yarn plays on the double meaning of the word “yarn” – both a length of thread and a story. It looks like a giant multi-coloured ball of wool, three metres high, which will be rolled through the city's streets. Luke Jerram collaborates with Bradford residents to create a kilometre-long rope, made from woollen fabric donated by the public or from second-hand shops. This episode of The Documentary, comes to you from In the Studio, exploring the processes of the world's most creative people.
