This is the guided Habit formation episode! Below is the outline of the steps I cover in the episode 1) Write down whatever your goal is 2) Now spend 5 minutes writing about what kind of person you think could achieve this goal? What characteristics would they have? What kind of thoughts/beliefs would they have about it? About themselves? The world? What are some of their daily habits You can use lists, bulliet points, journaling whatever. 3) Now think about yourself. Do you have any characteristics in common? Maybe sort of similar? Maybe totally opposite? Whatever your answers are its fine as long as they're honest. * Don't use this as an opportunity to beat yourself up!* 4) Now look at one or two characteristics where you differ from the kind of person who could achieve your goals. 5) Now… think of invisalign. Yes, the teeth straightening system…Stay with me! When you use invisalign they make a mold of your current teeth, how your teeth should be by the end and there are several different trays between that go from being like your old teeth to progressively more and more like your end game teeth. 6) So now, think of a step one tray equivalent habit you could adopt. It shouldn't be something thats going to take way more time or mental and physical energy that youre used to. I think something that takes 5-15 minutes is a great start Example- If you want to become an organized person and youre currently a fairly messy person, a good habit could be opening the mail everyday as soon as your bring it in and putting it away instead of leaving it in piles around the kitchen The last half of the podcast I discuss the four laws of habit formation. I recommend checking that out for tips to help your good habits stick and to make bad habits become easier to quit.
