Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Our shout-out today goes to George Zeck from Venice, FL. Thanks for your partnership in Project23. We cannot do this without donors like you. Our text today is 1 Corinthians 8:1-3. Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that "all of us possess knowledge." This "knowledge" puffs up, but love builds up. If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, he is known by God. — 1 Corinthians 8:1-3 You can be theologically correct—and spiritually careless. Paul opens this section with a warning that cuts against a familiar instinct in believers: the belief that being right automatically makes us faithful. The real danger in a secular culture is not ignorance, but arrogance—truth held without consideration for others. The Corinthians understood that wooden and stone idols were nothing. They knew meat was just meat. Paul doesn't dispute that. He affirms it. But he exposes the problem. Knowledge alone inflates. It creates distance. It feeds superiority. It subtly shifts the question from "What honors God?" to "What am I allowed to do?" Do you see the shift? It is a shift from "He" to "me". But thoughtful "love" for God and others, combined with good theology, does stretch the believer to do some things they would not usually do. Stay humble in moments where pride could be misunderstood. Restrain actions where freedom is allowed. Consider how our accurate theological freedom might adversely affect others. That's why this section of chapter 8 still presses on us today. We may not debate food sacrificed to idols, but many believers still rationalize the so-called "gray areas" of life—places where Scripture allows freedom, yet pride tempts us to lean toward self rather than love. The Corinthians weren't arguing whether idols were real; they were arguing whether their knowledge gave them permission to participate, signal approval, or remain indifferent anyway. In the same way today, the issue is often not personal involvement but endorsement, celebration, or normalization. What God calls sin is reframed as virtue. Sexual immorality is affirmed as love. Abortion is defended as compassion. Same-sex marriage is praised as progress. Drunkenness, pornography, marijuana use, and indulgence are excused as harmless freedoms. Believers may not practice these things themselves, but participation, silence, or celebration can quietly communicate approval. And the defense often sounds spiritual: "I know better." "I'm free in Christ." "This doesn't affect my faith." "I'm not hurting anyone." Paul dismantles that logic. Being right is not the same as being faithful. If knowledge does not lead to love, it has already begun to lead us wrong. Truth without humility hardens hearts. Freedom without love compromises witness. Paul ends with a quiet but profound shift. Maturity is not defined by how much you know about God, but by whether you are known by God. Faithfulness in a pagan world is not measured by how much freedom you can defend, but by how carefully you steward it for the good of others and the glory of God. DO THIS: Before exercising a freedom you believe you have, pause and ask whether it builds others up or subtly elevates yourself. ASK THIS: Where am I more focused on being right than being loving? How might my freedoms affect the conscience or faith of others? Am I using knowledge to serve—or to justify myself? PRAY THIS: Father, guard my heart from pride disguised as conviction. Teach me to hold truth with humility and freedom with love. Shape my life so that it reflects Your heart, not just correct beliefs. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Make Room"

The Beliefs Fueling Your Mom Guilt (And How to Update Them) with Josh Davis, PhD

    No Guilt Mom

If you've been feeling burnt out, emotionally exhausted, and quietly assuming that must mean you're failing… I want you to hear this clearly: You are not failing. You're capable. You're invested. You're doing a lot right. And if motherhood still feels heavy? That heaviness often shows up as guilt—guilt for being tired, guilt for wanting space, guilt for not enjoying every single moment the way you think you “should.” In this episode, I'm joined by Josh Davis, a cognitive behavioral psychologist, co-author of the USA Today bestseller The Difference That Makes the Difference, a master practitioner and trainer in NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), and founder of the Science-Based Leadership Institute. Josh teaches the science of how people actually change—not by trying harder, but by updating the beliefs and mental models driving our reactions. We dig into the specific beliefs that quietly fuel mom guilt and emotional exhaustion… and what shifts when you start updating them. What You'll Learn in This Episode Why moms default to “I'm failing” when they struggle—and how that belief fuels shame instead of change The NLP presupposition “There is no failure, only feedback” and how it instantly creates more options for what to do next Why you're not reacting to “reality”… you're reacting to your internal map of reality (and how that explains overwhelm) The powerful reminder: “The map is not the territory”—and how it helps you stop treating feelings like facts How to “earn the right to influence” your kids (or anyone) by understanding the reality where their behavior makes sense Why telling your kid “it's not a big deal” usually backfires—and what to do instead The belief “All the resources I need are already within me” and how it helps you stop outsourcing confidence to the next system, script, or strategy A practical mindset shift: treating change like an experiment instead of a life sentence How to define success in a way that's actually within your control—so you stop evaluating yourself with impossible standards Why incremental change is often the fastest way to create lasting transformation Why This Episode Matters So many overwhelmed moms don't need more discipline, more hustle, or another productivity hack. What you really need is to identify the beliefs running in the background—because when those beliefs go unseen, normal stress turns into shame. And shame is heavy. But once you can update the belief underneath it all, you don't have to “try harder” to feel better. You start responding differently because you're seeing the situation differently. If you're a regular listener, you know that we typically feature conversations with parents who have experienced the loss of a child on this podcast.  However, when a good friend posted a link to this sermon on Romans 8:28 in our private “While We're Waiting – Support for Bereaved Parents” Facebook group a couple weeks ago, I knew it was something I wanted to share with you.  Kirk Miller is the speaker, and he is a member of Redeemer Church in Huntsville, Alabama.  He's a former pastor and church planter and now is editor of digital content at Logos where he edits and writes for Word by Word.  I wanted to share this because I know what a complicated relationship many bereaved parents have with Romans 8:28!  This often is the first verse that those who are trying to help a grieving parent will quote.  Kirk acknowledges how this verse, offered too quickly, can feel less like a lifeline and more like a slap in the face—rushing sufferers toward a silver lining, dismissing real pain, or subtly implying that ongoing grief is a failure of faith.  In this episode, Kirk will offer six clarifications on what this this scripture means – and does not mean – for those who are suffering.  I pray that this sermon both enlightens and encourages you, just like it did for me.  While we're waiting to see our children again, may the Lord hold you close and strengthen your heart.Click HERE to watch this sermon on YouTube.  I would love to hear your thoughts on the show. If you've ever felt viscerally out of place in a room that demanded you conform, follow the doctrine, or earn your seat through status, this episode is going to feel like permission.BY THE TIME YOU FINISH LISTENING TO THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL DISCOVER:Why the 400-year era of the Cross of Planning – built on homogenization, fitting in, and following what society deemed worthy (school, job, marriage, the prescribed path to success) – is shifting into the Cross of The Sleeping Phoenix, and what it means that your nervous system is going to stop feeling safe conforming to a world that no longer honors who you actually are.How the business belief that you need to pay for proximity to celebrity influencers, join the high-ticket mastermind, or only form relationships with people who hold equal or higher status is being dismantled and why Kathryn never bought into the idea that vanity metrics like follower count determine who is worthy of a conversation or a seat at the table. The difference between the group-think echo chamber of most masterminds and group coaching programs – where everyone attracts the same type of person, is taught the same doctrine, and leaves with a slightly repackaged version of the same tactic – and the kind of rich, dynamic, mutually generative co-creation that's emerging in the new paradigm, where a barista, a sourdough baker in Minnesota, or a WhatsApp conversation with a client might unlock more genuine insight than a $50K room ever could. What this shift means if you run a mastermind, group coaching program, or curriculum-based offer – specifically the question of whether your structure is asking people to conform to your methodology rather than honoring their differentiation – and why the five-step framework model is going to increasingly feel misaligned as people become too uniquely themselves to fit a one-size-fits-all path. And while you're here, follow us on Instagram @creativelyowned for more daily inspiration on effortlessly attracting the most aligned clients without spending hours marketing your business or chasing clients. If you've ever felt stuck despite having experience, skills, and a plan, the problem usually isn't effort. Most developers and technical leaders don't stall because they're lazy or unmotivated—they stall because their beliefs, motivation, and execution are misaligned. A strong getting unstuck isn't about pushing harder. It's about creating alignment so forward momentum becomes sustainable instead of exhausting. When progress slows, people often default to adding more tools, tighter schedules, or bigger goals. But without clarity underneath, those fixes rarely stick. Real movement starts when you trust the process, understand what's driving you, and design actions that actually fit how you work. About Kim Miller-Hershon Kim Miller-Hershon is an international business coach, corporate trainer, and speaker who helps leaders and entrepreneurs get unstuck by thinking differently and taking action faster. She works with executives and business owners on essential leadership skills, including communication, management, and time management—always with a focus on authenticity. Kim also hosts the Unconventional Wisdom About Conventional Wisdom podcast, where clichés are challenged, and fresh thinking takes center stage. Follow Kim on Instagram, LinkedIn, and her website. Getting unstuck starts with trust and clarity Before any plan can work, trust has to exist—trust in the process, trust in support systems, and trust in your ability to navigate discomfort. Growth almost always involves friction. If everything feels comfortable, you're probably not changing anything meaningful. A healthy getting unstuck doesn't avoid discomfort; it reframes it. Feeling uneasy doesn't mean you're failing—it often means you're stretching. That shift alone can prevent the avoidance and second-guessing that quietly derail progress. Just as important is clarity. Vague intentions create fragile momentum. When goals are fuzzy, decisions become reactive instead of intentional, and it's easy to drift back into familiar patterns. Getting unstuck requires a "juicy why." Motivation doesn't come from ambition alone. It comes from having a reason that's compelling enough to carry you through the parts of the work you don't enjoy. Your "why" needs to be clear, personal, and vivid—not aspirational fluff. Getting unstuck depends on this kind of clarity. When your reason for moving forward is strong, you don't need constant external motivation. You have something internal to anchor to when energy dips or obstacles show up. The "Juicy Why" Check If your goal doesn't energize you, it won't sustain you Make your why specific enough that it pulls you forward during hard moments Getting unstuck fails when plans ignore behavior Many solid plans fail because they assume ideal behavior. They don't account for procrastination, avoidance, or the realities of working with other people. A perfect strategy that ignores how you actually operate won't survive contact with deadlines and dependencies. A practical getting unstuck adapts plans to real behavior. That means designing systems that work even when motivation drops, interruptions happen, or other people don't deliver on time. Progress comes from plans that flex—not plans that look good on paper. Getting unstuck when scaling your role One of the hardest moments in growth happens when success requires letting go of work you're good at—or even love doing. For developers and technical leaders, staying close to execution feels productive, but it can quietly cap growth. Getting unstuck recognizes that scaling isn't about abandoning strengths. It's about repositioning them so others can step in, teams can grow, and the organization isn't dependent on a single person. Letting go isn't failure—it's evolution. Getting unstuck depends on psychological safety Momentum collapses when mistakes feel personal. Progress accelerates when mistakes are treated as information. Getting unstuck replaces self-judgment with curiosity. Instead of asking "Why did I mess this up?", the better question is "What broke, and what does this tell me?" That shift turns setbacks into inputs for better systems rather than reasons to stop. This is especially critical under pressure, where missed expectations often trigger blame instead of learning. Curiosity Over Failure Debrief outcomes without assigning blame Keep what worked, fix what didn't, and move forward Getting unstuck for time management under pressure Deadlines don't fail—systems do. When work depends on other people, last-minute chaos usually comes from missing contingencies, not poor intent. A getting unstuck plan for reality, not best-case scenarios. That means identifying dependencies early, building backup paths, and scripting uncomfortable follow-ups ahead of time. When conversations are planned, avoidance drops and execution improves. Plan B + Script It Define fallback options when others don't deliver Script follow-ups so discomfort doesn't delay action Conclusion Getting unstuck isn't about doing more—it's about doing what aligns. When beliefs, motivation, and execution reinforce each other, progress becomes repeatable instead of fragile. If you're ready to stop circling the same problems and start moving forward with intention, alignment is the place to start. Stay Connected: Join the Developreneur Community

It's the invisible belief system running silently in the background, shaping every decision you make without your awareness. Most of us are walking around with beliefs forged in survival mode, and we're using them long after they've stopped serving us. The good news is that beliefs, unlike facts, are tools you can examine, update, and swap out. In this conversation, Nir walks you through the motivation triangle that explains why willpower and information alone never work, and the exact four-step turnaround process that rewrites the beliefs costing you peace, progress, and connection. Send a textI've been going through a lot these days. The old beliefs are crashing down. As babies we're 100% vulnerable and without boundaries. We learn through interacting with our caregivers. We respond to input and reactions. We then form a sense of self based upon this. Beliefs and emotional scaffolding begin to from. Almost on autopilot we live and trust this model into our 20's, 30's, 40's, and we simply accept this as gospel. The filters and lens we see life through becomes our identity. That is until we start introspecting and looking back and asking why we act in a certain way or why shame wells up with triggers.Well, it's the scaffolding. The lens. Emotional beliefs hold up this framework. But that scaffolding and belief system is that of the child's and is based upon core emotions, coping mechanisms, survival. It is not capable of upholding an adults life with jobs, relationships, and responsibilities. As more pressure is put upon it, It starts to rust and eventually comes crashing down. And with it jobs, relationships, lives. But the who you've been waiting for might just be on the other side of this and you will no longer be trapped by this outdated identity and belief system, the paradigm of roles you've been living within. Buying a Porsche just might be easier...I'm kidding of course. If You Burned Every Bible, You'd Still Be Stuck with Jesus — Here's Why What if someone destroyed every Bible ever printed? Would the case for Jesus disappear with them? Cold-case homicide detective J. Warner Wallace — author of Person of Interest and Cold Case Christianity — argues the answer is a definitive no. In this compelling episode of Come Let Us Reason Together, Wallace applies the same investigative technique he used to solve decades-old murders to one of history's most contested questions: who was Jesus of Nazareth, and does the evidence demand a verdict? Using what he calls the "fuse and fallout" method — examining what happened before and after an event when the event itself leaves no direct evidence — Wallace traces the historical shockwave of Jesus's life through science, art, music, education, and world religion. What he found surprised even him.

In this episode of No Way, Jose!, host Jose Galison presents a full reading of Michael Aquino's 1980 U.S. Army PSYOP document "From PSYOP to MindWar: The Psychology of Victory", co-authored with Colonel Paul E. Vallely. The paper dismisses conventional psychological operations as weak and reactive—relics of Vietnam-era failures—and instead advocates for MindWar: a radical approach to conflict where victory is achieved not through physical destruction but by decisively shaping perceptions, beliefs, media narratives, and entire information environments. It proposes using sophisticated psychological techniques, environmental factors, and overwhelming "arguments" to compel adversaries to align their will with yours voluntarily, making lethal warfare obsolete and redefining success as total mental dominance disguised as harmony. This installment builds on the show's ongoing examination of Michael Aquino and the Temple of Set, following episodes such as "NWJ 514: Analyzing the Temple of Set's Beliefs w/Greypilled" and "NWJ 499: Exploring Michael Aquino's Temple of Set." The text stands as a primary source that continues to spark controversy and suspicion, offering a stark look at how military strategy, propaganda, and control over reality itself can converge. Listeners get the unfiltered document to weigh its implications for power, consent, and the mechanics of modern influence—whether MindWar represents innovative "psychology of victory" or a blueprint for something far more controlling. When Change Feels Hard: Understanding “Belief Echoes”In this episode of Think Thursday, Molly revisits a powerful concept at the heart of behavior change—belief echoes. If you've ever told yourself, “Change is just hard for me” or “I'm not someone who sticks with things,” this episode will help you understand what's actually happening in your brain—and why you're not broken.Grounded in neuroscience and mindset work, Molly explains why lasting change isn't about willpower. It's about the thoughts you've practiced for years without realizing it.What You'll Learn1. What a “Belief Echo” IsA belief echo is a thought you've repeated so often that it no longer feels like a thought—it feels like truth.Statements like:“This is just who I am.”“I never follow through.”“I'm not consistent.”These aren't facts. They're rehearsed mental patterns.2. Why Your Brain Protects Limiting BeliefsYour brain is a pattern-recognition machine. It craves familiarity—even when that familiarity is painful. Through confirmation bias, it selectively gathers evidence that supports your existing identity. If you believe you “never stick with things,” your brain will:Highlight every time you quitDownplay or ignore times you followed throughStore that “evidence” to reinforce the beliefIt's not sabotage. It's efficiency.3. The Real Reason Change Feels HardChange feels hard because you're asking your brain to:Let go of a familiar identityBelieve something new before you have proofYou must interrupt an old belief before you have evidence of the new one. That gap is where discomfort lives.4. Change Takes Thinking TimeWe often say “change takes time,” but what it really takes is intentional thinking time.New belief → practiced repeatedly → new feelings → new actions → new results. You don't build evidence first. You build belief first.5. A Practical ExampleOld belief: “I never stick with things.” New thought to practice: “I am learning how to follow through.”That subtle shift:Reduces shameCreates possibilityOpens the door to consistent actionSmall, believable thoughts are how identity shifts begin. The Science Behind ItThis episode reinforces foundational Alcohol Minimalist principles found in Breaking the Bottle Legacy , including:The Behavior Map-Results CycleCognitive behavioral principlesConfirmation bias researchThe Think-Feel-Act frameworkAt its core: Your drinking behavior is never random. It is driven by thought.Key TakeawaysYou are not failing at change. You are experiencing the momentum of well-practiced thoughts.Beliefs are not identity—they are rehearsed sentences.Sustainable change starts with choosing a new sentence on purpose.Your brain can learn a new identity—but only through repetition.Reflection QuestionsWhat sentences about yourself are you reinforcing daily? What belief echo might be quietly driving your drinking? What is one small, believable thought you could begin practicing today?Change begins with noticing the story you're telling about who you are. What belief echo do you suspect might be operating in the background of your drinking right now? ★ Support this podcast ★

In this episode, Ken returns to the topic of the distinction between order - or law - and justice, and how for God order is important but justice for everyone is what is paramount. Ken shared the story of Jesus healing the man born blind in John chapter 9 , which he thinks depicts well this difference between people's emphasis on the law and God's emphasis on justice and ensuring the well being of everyone. In this story the Pharisees, who maintained religious order, insisted God couldn't be behind this miracle because he broke the Sabbath laws to heal the man. Their mental model was that anything of God must be based on the laws they'd created - on their order. But sometimes God breaks the order to bring justice. Ken invites us to think about this question, "How resistant are we to God changing our assumptions and beliefs and about how things work? Do we have enough humility to say, "I have a set of beliefs and assumptions about how things are supposed to go, and they don't always go that way. Sometimes God blows up my beliefs and assumptions, and sometimes God breaks the order in order to bring justice."The Pharisees in the story lacked humility and the capacity to have eyes to see what God was doing in their midst. What Ken invites us to think about is whether we allow God to have any room to be bigger than our rules. When people are taken advantage of because of the rules, God will intervene, because God always stands on the side of justice. This episode was recorded on February 20th, 2026.

Want to discuss this episode with me and others that share your experience?https://disordered.fm/community-------In this episode of The Anxious Truth, we look at why the lessons of floating, mindful acceptance, and exposure can feel out of reach. While the principles of recovery are simple, they are difficult to execute because they are counterintuitive and require facing the things you fear most. Beyond the initial fear, deeper obstacles rooted in background, culture, and personal experience often stop people from embracing a mindful approach.I discuss two primary belief systems that keep people stuck in control-based strategies:The "Anxiety as Failure" Belief: The idea that being anxious means you have already failed. This leads to a harsh, self-critical view where having an anxiety disorder is seen as a structural or moral defect rather than a challenge to navigate. The "Managing Others' Emotions" Belief: The fear that fully feeling and showing your anxiety will ruin someone else's day or cause distress to those around you. This belief often stems from childhood environments where you were taught to stay neutral to avoid triggering a parent or caregiver. If you hold these beliefs, you may be trapped in an endless cycle of trying to control your internal state because you feel that being "impacted" or "impaired" is not allowed. We talk about how to recognize these invisible rules and why recovery requires more than mechanical exposure—it requires challenging these long-held beliefs about your value and your responsibility for others' happiness.Recovery takes time to work through these layers. If you have been struggling to "get it," this episode explains why.For full show notes on this episode:https://theanxioustruth.com/338Listen to Disordered every Friday:https://disordered.fmSend in a question or comment via text.Support The Anxious Truth: If you find the podcast helpful and want to support my work, you can buy me a coffee. "God doesn't ask us to live the whole story at once. He walks us through it chapter by chapter.” In this second half of my conversation with Tricia Patrick, we move beyond the events of February 2014 and into the long journey that followed the loss of her son Jeremy to suicide.Tricia describes those early days as a fog — returning to work just ten days after Jeremy went to heaven, sitting with her Bible open and unable to process the words, and simply trying to survive one hour at a time. And yet, even in the fog, she kept showing up.What she discovered over time is something many grieving parents need to hear: God did not require her to process everything at once. He walked her through grief in chapters.A chapter might last weeks or months. One season focused on survival. Another on Scripture. Later, she was able to face the complicated layers unique to suicide loss — the stigma, the anger, the cultural triggers, and the difficult questions. She didn't have to solve it all in the beginning. God was gracious to let her heal one layer at a time. This is an honest conversation about suicide loss, but it is also a conversation about endurance, Scripture, worship, and a Shepherd who carries His lambs close to His heart. If you are in the early chapters of grief, please hear this: you do not have to resolve every question today. You do not have to face every layer at once. God is patient. He is gentle. And He will walk with you through each chapter — one at a time.Click HERE to find Tricia's "Sharing Jeremy's Joy" Facebook page and get involved!I would love to hear your thoughts on the show. The conversation highlights the complexities of identity and the dangers of acceptance in a context that could lead to harm. takeawaysEthical pedophilia is a controversial term that distinguishes between attraction and action. There is a significant difference between having harmful desires and acting on them.Shame can play a role in recognizing and addressing harmful desires.Normalizing harmful desires can lead to dangerous societal implications.Support systems should focus on preventing harm while acknowledging intrinsic value.Desires should not define a person's identity; actions do.Removing obstacles is crucial for individuals seeking help. The push for acceptance can lead to normalization of harmful behaviors.Children cannot consent, and their protection is paramount.Conversations about these topics are necessary but must be approached with caution.Chapters00:00 Understanding Ethical Pedophilia04:26 The Distinction Between Feelings and Actions07:09 The Role of Shame in Human Behavior12:32 The Push for Acceptance of Minor Attracted Persons15:45 The Growth of Identity and Its Implications16:50 Understanding the Complexity of Attraction18:02 The Role of Art and Expression in Attraction20:02 The Debate on Control and Responsibility21:03 Navigating Language and Terminology22:28 The Importance of Support and Prevention24:29 Safeguards and Professional Boundaries25:31 The Challenge of Identity Labels27:19 Minor Attracted Persons and Support Groups30:06 The Spectrum of Beliefs within the MAP Community34:17 Concluding Thoughts on Protection and Prevention35:12 R&R Outro.mp4Support the showEveryone has resilience, but what does that mean, and how do we use it in life and leadership? In this powerful episode of The Unapologetic Man Podcast, host Mark Sing shares his secret NLP protocol to dismantle the negative beliefs that make you behave badly around women. Your beliefs create your behavior and reality—if you're not pulling girls or getting results, fear-based beliefs like "I'm not enough," "She'll reject me," or "I'm better off alone" are sabotaging you by shaping your actions and attracting more proof they're true. Mark explains the two core emotions (love vs. fear), why these limiting beliefs stick (they self-reinforce, feel protective, and follow easy neural pathways), how they install in childhood, and simple tools to question these negative beliefs and drop them completely.  Key Takeaways: - Beliefs dictate your behavior and results - How negative beliefs kill confidence and make you unattractive to women - Why beliefs persist: survival instinct, unconscious "protection," familiar brain pathways - They form early from parents, media, and suggestibility, often not even yours - Don't believe everything you think; choose empowering beliefs to change your reality Key Timestamps: [00:00:00] – Episode intro [00:00:37] – Beliefs create behavior and reality [00:01:42] – Love vs. fear: the two core emotions [00:04:20] – Why negative beliefs stick around (survival) [00:08:05] – Neural programming [00:09:14] – The first 7 years of life [00:14:29] – Tools to identify and drop limiting beliefs [00:17:42] – Client success story [00:21:18] – Final profound insight: challenges for soul growth [00:24:59] – Hip recovery update and wrap-up [00:27:11] – Episode outro Connect With Mark: Apply for Mark's 3-Month Coaching Program: https://coachmarksing.com/coaching/ Check Out The Perks Program: https://coachmarksing.com/perks/ Email: CoachMarkSing@Gmail.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachmarksing/ Grab Mark's Free Program: The Approach Formula - https://www.CoachMarkSing.com/The-Approach-Formula About The Unapologetic Man Podcast The Unapologetic Man Podcast is your resource for mastering dating, attraction, and relationships from a confident, masculine perspective. Randy is back! After a break to welcome a new grandchild, Randy returns with a powerful and vulnerable episode that goes deep into the core of The Gap Thinking Framework. Why do we so often self-sabotage when faced with a new opportunity? Why is our first instinct to say, "I can't" or "I shouldn't"? Randy explains that the answer lies in our "BS" (Beliefs and Stories)—the subconscious programming from our past that dictates our automatic reactions. He shares a deeply personal story about how a "lack mindset" instilled in childhood has held him back for decades, and how it almost stopped him from pursuing a major new business venture just yesterday. In this episode, you'll learn how to identify when you are trapped in a "narrow gap" of old thinking and how to consciously widen that space to choose a different path. Randy challenges the idea that you need to know the "how" before you act, arguing that faith and a belief in your own ability to choose are the real keys to success. This is a masterclass in moving from being a habitual thinker on autopilot to becoming an active thinker who designs their own life. Mentioned in this episode: The Gap Thinking Framework, beliefs and stories (BS), self-sabotage, lack mindset, triggers, narrow vs. wide gap, faith, decision-making, Henry Ford quote, personal development. Ready to identify the patterns that are holding you back? Take the free Gap Thinking Framework Assessment at richmind.co     Key Takeaways: The Gap Thinking Framework is about controlling the critical split-second window between a trigger (stimulus) and your reaction. Most of our life is lived on autopilot, but we can't afford to let our big life decisions be made by habitual thinking. Your "BS" (Beliefs and Stories) are the subconscious programs, often formed in childhood, that dictate your automatic reactions to new opportunities. A "narrow gap" occurs when you instantly revert to old, safe beliefs of "I can't" or "I shouldn't," leading to self-sabotage. You don't need to know the "how" before you take action. The key is to step out in faith and belief, and the resources will appear. Randy shares a transparent example of being triggered by an old "lack mindset" while researching a new business venture and how he overcame it. The famous Henry Ford quote, "Whether you believe you can, or believe you can't, either way, you're correct," is the foundation of this episode.     Questions Answered in This Episode:   Why has there been a break in the podcast episodes? (Hint: A new grandbaby!) How do my childhood beliefs and stories affect my adult decisions? What is a "narrow gap" and how does it lead to self-sabotage? Why do I automatically think "I can't" when presented with a big opportunity? How can I stop letting my past define my future? What do I do when I'm triggered by fear and doubt? Why don't I need to know the full plan before I take the first step? How can I shift from being a "habitual thinker" to an "active thinker"?     Key People, Concepts, & Terms: People: Randy Wilson, Henry Ford, David Neagle. Concepts: The GAP, Gap Thinking Framework, Beliefs and Stories (BS), Self-Sabotage, Triggers, Patterns, Narrow Gap vs. Wide Gap, Habitual vs. Active Thinking, Faith, Lack Mindset, Abundance. In January, I asked people if they wanted to share any children's folklore as part of my February theme. As a branch of study, this largely refers to folklore created, shared, and maintained by children. Adults are not involved in its generation. So, contributors could share folklore they remembered from their childhood. Or they could share what they'd heard from children in their lives now. Most responses came from those sharing memories of childhood folklore, and broadly fell into three categories. As a result, this episode and the two that follow will use those categories. Urban Legends refers to the stories or urban legends that people shared. Games and Practices refers to things that people did. Monsters and Beliefs refer to (surprise, surprise) things people believed! In this episode, we'll explore some of the beliefs people heard and spread in their childhood, including supernatural beings like witches, love divination, and superstitions! The Source Familywas a high-profile spiritual commune and cult founded in Hollywood in the early 1970s by James Edward Baker, better known as Father Yod. The group is famous for its early adoption of organic health foods, its psychedelic rock band, and its eventual tragic relocation to Hawaii. Key Aspects of The Source FamilyThe Leader: Father Yod was a former WWII hero, Hollywood restaurateur, and stuntman who reinvented himself as a guru. He lived in a mansion with 14 wives and drove a Rolls Royce, claiming he was a "spiritual father" to his 140 followers. The Source Restaurant: The group operated a popular vegetarian restaurant on the Sunset Strip that became a celebrity hotspot for figures like John Lennon and Warren Beatty. It is famously parodied in Woody Allen's Annie Hall.Music: The Family formed an experimental psychedelic rock band called Ya Ho Wha 13. They recorded nine albums between 1973 and 1975, which are now considered cult classics in the psych-rock genre.Beliefs & Lifestyle: Members practiced communal living, yoga, and meditation based on a blend of Western esotericism and the Age of Aquarius. They all adopted the last name "Aquarian".The End: Following pressure from local authorities, the group moved to Hawaii in 1974. In 1975, Father Yod died following a hang-gliding accident on Oahu. The Family largely disbanded shortly after his death. Media & LegacyThe story of the group was brought to a wider audience through the 2012 documentary The Source Family, directed by Jodi Wille and Maria Demopoulos. It was based on the book The Source: The Untold Story of Father Yod, Ya Ho Wa 13 and The Source Family by original members Isis Aquarian and Electricity Aquarian. Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.
