In this episode I talk about how the Conservatives in America are actively using the idea that we as a country fundamentally WANT to be civil. In other words we are willing to hear and discuss arguments when they are presented in a form that is palatable, ie dog whistling. The Tucker Carlsons of the world don't go on television often and drop racial slurs. They use innuendo and talk about things in the abstract. They say things like "All Lives Matter" in response to Black Lives Matter. They say that we need to protect our elections by restricting how votes are cast, then they pull voting machines and locations from minority locations. They talk about fraud with govt aid but don't mention corporate bailouts just welfare queens, implying that we are suffering because of the 1200 that some poor took vs 2 million that some corporations did.
