"The Little Season" refers to a brief period mentioned in the Book of Revelation (Revelation 20:3, 7-8) after Satan is released from his imprisonment for 1,000 years. During this time, he will deceive the nations for a final time before being defeated and cast into the lake of fire. Interpretations vary, with some believing this season is a future event, while others, known as preterists, suggest it has already occurred, possibly tied to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. A fringe interpretation, sometimes linked to conspiracy theories, suggests that our current history is a deception orchestrated by Satan during this "Little Season," with ancient architecture being evidence of a past, hidden reign of Christ.  Joel is back with Part 5 of the Little Season Conspiracy, and he unravels the most important aspect of this modern eschatology, Chronology Criticism. He looks at the idea that we have anywhere from 700-1,000 “Phantom Years” that have been manipulated by the Jesuits since the supposed Millennial Reign of Jesus on earth. He looks at sociologist, Gunnar Heinsohn, and his ideas of stratigraphy and how they show we are on a different timeline than what we have been taught our whole lives. In the Old Testament, Ichabod became a reality for the Israelites.In the New Testament, Jesus later refers to the concept of the Glory of God leaving Israel. In His message to the populace of Israel, His final word to the religious leaders was: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate.” (Matthew 23:37-38).That was His final statement of judgment on Israel for the rejection of their Messiah.He had indicted their leaders – and by indicting the leaders – that indictment fell upon all the people who followed them. Have you been having fun with the newest slate of AI tools? Have you been doing research with GPT-5? Coding your projects with Claude? Turning pictures of your friends into cartoon characters from the Fairly Odd Parents using the image editing tool Nano Banana? Are you impressed with what they can do? Well guess what? You're only impressed with them because you're basically a naive child. You're like a little child with an etch a sketch who is amazed that they can make crude images by turning the knobs, oblivious to greater possibilities. At least, that's the impression you get when listening to tech leaders, philosophers, and even governments. According to them, soon the most impressive of AI tools will look as cheap and primitive as Netflix's recommendation algorithm in 2007. Soon the world will have to reckon with the power of Artificial General Intelligence, or “AGI.” What is AGI? Definitions vary. When will it come? Perhaps months. Perhaps years. Perhaps decades. But definitely soon enough for you to worry about. What will it mean for humanity once it's here? Perhaps a techno utopia. Perhaps extinction. No one is sure. But what they are sure of is that AGI is definitely coming and it's definitely going to be a big deal. A mystical event. A turning point in history, after which nothing will ever be the same. However, some are more skeptical, like our guest today Will Douglas Heaven. Will has a PhD in Computer Science from Imperial College London and is the senior editor for AI at MIT Technology review.
