Welcome back to Left on Read! Do you think jealousy is flattering or a red flag? This week, we weigh in on the fine line between what the appropriate amount of jealousy is and when it's reason for concern. This week we asked you on our Instagram (@leftonreadpod) if you believed there should be a spark in the beginning of your relationship or if you need to give it time, we talk about the verdict and what we believe to be the truth. Is it possible your "spark" might not be as exciting as the movies make it sound? Next, we get into discussing our flaws in relationships. Are there things you've said you won't carry into your next relationship, but realize they might just be who you are? We've got a few, what are yours? Of course, we couldn't enter summer without talking about WEDDING SZN! We touch on some proper etiquette for weddings which could be helpful for the likely 2000 weddings you'll be attending in the next four months. How many dates is too many dates? This week we explore an article speaking about the notion of overwhelming yourself with too many dates. Is overdating overrated? As per usual, we go off the rails talking about the perfect "first date", the ungodly bios people have on Tinder, and how we feel about people who love to "camp". Did you miss us? We missed us too. Anya and Nicole finally finished school for the semester, hooray! For a little short episode this week, we explore the ancient topic of chivalry. Do you fiddle with your keys after the first date, waiting for that kiss? Do you demand your partner sends you flowers, or walks on the street-side of the sidewalk to protect you? Listen to our hot takes on these chivalrous “rules” and so much else as Anya prepares to start dating again. No, you read that right…Anya. Is. Back. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter @Leftonreadpod
Say whaaat? We have our pal Jon Wade (who Anya fancies calling John Wayne) on this week to talk dating apps, PDA, and deleting Instagram pictures after a break-up. He has a podcast too! It's called "Cadence" and if you like music, give it a listen. We talk about our meme of the week which you can find on our Instagram @LeftonReadpod What do you think of deleting all evidence of your S.O. off social media after a break-up? Tweet us! @LeftonReadpod
Do you fart in front of your SO? How about going #2? We chat about how comfortable is ~too~ comfortable and if you should ever break that barrier in the first place. We also got in our FIRST FIGHT on this episode, arguing over whether or not the opposite gender "best friend" of your SO should be a reason for concern, or just a friend. As always there's a meme of the week and weird dating story to keep you laughing as we trail off topic every ten minutes. Congratulations to our contest winner Brittany Hunt! Thanks to all who entered our contest, Brittany is the winner of a $20 Visa gift card!
On this week’s episode, we talk about the missed connection we posted and the…interesting responses we got. WE'RE ON INSTAGRAM! Follow us @leftonreadpod for all the visual shit you can't see in a podcast like Meme of the Week, behind the scenes, and photos of us, because we're conceited. Remember Cosmopolitan magazine? Did you take the horrible advice? We're going through a bunch of horrible dating articles from the magazine and telling you whether or not it's good advice! Nicole found some missed connections in Winnipeg that will make your toes curl (in a bad way), and we even created our own. Hey, we're thinking about making a Youtube channel, would you watch? *Content warning* Mental health and relationships are hard to navigate sometimes. After a conversation over wine with a friend about mental health and how our partners support us, we took to Instagram to ask people how they approached the conversation with their S.O. When do we talk about mental illness with someone we're dating? We aren't totally sure, but we want to start the conversation and contribute to ending the stigma surrounding mental health. We tread lightly in this episode with respect to those who shared their stories with us and want to stress that we do NOT give advice in this episode. We share our own stories and what we would do surrounding our own mental health, discuss some research, and share the brave responses people sent us about how they dealt with it to show you, you aren't alone. We hope you enjoy this bonus episode, we'll see you next Tuesday.
