Des fleurs mortes pour célébrer l'amour...  Oui, ça sent la rose, mais aussi les pesticides.  La Saint-Valentin des plantes, dans leur milieu naturel, a un tout autre parfum. Les plantes aussi offrent des fleurs, mais ce sont leurs fleurs (leurs couleurs, leurs parfums et leur nectar), pas à d'autres plantes mais à des insectes, en général, qui jouent les entremetteurs, pour qu'il y ait pollinisation. Un triangle amoureux, où la séduction ne sert qu'à la reproduction.  Figue féconde Certaines plantes sont particulièrement fidèles ; elles dépendent d'une seule espèce pour se reproduire. C'est le cas du figuier, un symbole de fécondité dans l'Antiquité, à cause de la sève blanche qui s'écoule quand on coupe une figue – pas besoin de faire un dessin... Depuis la nuit des temps, le figuier a fait alliance avec une espèce unique pour être fécondé : une guêpe. Elle entre dans la figue pour y pondre ses œufs et transporte ainsi le pollen. La plante et l'animal ont co-évolué pendant des millions d'années. Résultat : pas de guêpe, pas de figue, et sans figue, pas de guêpe non plus. C'est l'amour exclusif, mais c'est l'amour du risque : une seule guêpe vous manque et tout est dépeuplé. L'amour à l'aveugle Mais la plupart des plantes pratiquent le polyamour, multiplient les contacts pour multiplier leurs chances de se reproduire. La fleur de colza, par exemple, est pollinisée par plus de cent espèces d'insectes.   Il y a aussi des plantes qui font l'amour à l'aveugle : les plantes anémophiles qui sèment à tout vent, tels les conifères. Comme un amoureux sur Tinder qui fait répondre à tous.
