Life is a beautiful event, if we choose to look at it that way. Daily reminders of the majesty of life. Let's chat.
Extremely short episode just announcing that we will be back in January.
Today is Stephanie interviews Chris about his fitness strategy, and about how it’s applicable to everyone.
Stephenie talks about her health transformation.
Today’s episode makes almost no sense, but I think you’ll find it will put you in a good mood and it is in our opinion one of the best episodes.
In this episode, Stephanie interviews Chris about his new book “Help! My Diet Sucks.”
What happens when you get in a fitness funk? You don’t want to exercise. Your body needs a break. Today we get real.
Happy Thanksgiving! This episode is about being grateful, realizing that it’s a choice. Being responsible for your own story.
Today we ramble about some general health tips, our strategies for the holidays, no guilt after eating a hamburger…
It’s important to stay consistent in your fitness goals. Consistency is the most important thing about high fitness achievers.
Stephenie and Chris introduce themselves and talk about how they started on the path of health.
During the holiday season, it’s easy to get distracted and over booked. Make sure to take some time for yourself to decompress, meditate, exercise.
In this episode I talk about the best and most optimized way to approach your resistance training workout. Instead of breaking up the body parts, it’s more beneficial to have a very active full body workout, and then follow it with a rest and recovery day.
Today, more brainstorming for the book. Using micro victories to build momentum toward reaching your health and fitness goals.
We got all kinds of great ideas out of our heads and onto the whiteboard today. Stephenie and I (Chris) are working on a nutrition book that tackles the real issue: lack of desire to make a change, and momentum going the wrong direction.
We learn best when we take something new and apply it to something that we already know. Today I had an insight about a skill that I want to develop, being able to initiate a conversation with somebody that I don’t know. And I liken that skill to something that I already do know, so that I can get better at my new skill.
After a night of little sleep, I woke up feeling sluggish and a bit brain dead. After having this revelation, that all changed. This deeper purpose came from somewhere out of me, yet something deep within me. I hope you enjoy this episode.
Welcome! In this episode I read the first draft of the introduction to my new book about nutrition. Give it a quick listen and let me know what you think.
Most fitness goals are structured around how much muscle you want to build or how much body fat you want to lose. Sometimes it might be a cardiovascular goal, like how many calories you want to burn or how much weight you want to lose. But how “safe“ is your fitness goal?
It’s been almost a year since I’ve posted an episode. Wow! Time flies when you’re super busy and going through big transitions. Sold our house, just moved into a new place a few weeks ago. Expecting baby number FOUR in a few months! Super excited for that!

How often do we suffer through life, and accept things that we don't want? That's just the way it is we might say. Sometimes we just need to stand up and change it. No big deal, just make the move. In this episode I share a quick story about my realization that I needed to change a very small part of my life. Very very small. But the way we do anything is the way we do everything. So in reality, this was not a small thing, but rather the way that I represent myself in my life. I hope you enjoy the episode. We've all heard that it's important to be positive. But what does this mean? A better question: how do you do it? We don't wanna be running around all day faking it. So how do we consistently look at the world in a positive way they after day? In this episode, I talk about one important question that I often ask myself: what else could this mean? If somebody pulls in front of you in traffic, and you immediately get upset, when you ask yourself what else could this mean? Then your brain comes up with all kinds of answers that could give this other person the benefit of the doubt. I hope you enjoy this episode. If you have a goal you want to achieve, all you need to know is where you are and where you want to get to. Gradually, as you are taking the steps to get to your goal, you will be able to reassess where you are, change direction, and chart a new path. It's vital that you keep reassessing, being realistic and knowing that you can only take one step at a time. I hope you enjoy the episode. What I found is that most decisions, even really big decisions, don't require that much thinking. Once you decide to do it, just do it. It's hard to know whether or not something is a good idea unless we've actually tried it. The hesitancy to just go for our goals comes from the fear of being embarrassed or seemingly failing. There's no such thing as failure unless we quit. I hope you enjoy the episode. Chris Janke-Bueno is a personal trainer and owner of My Core Balance personal training studio in San Jose, California. Do you have anything in your life that is an NMW? The stands for no matter what. Have you set a goal and put an NMW stamp on it? That means that no matter what happens that is still your goal. You don't ever change that goal, although you might change your direction to get there and your strategy. It's vital that we have this no matter what mentality if we want to achieve our goals. Recording the segment almost brought me to tears, as I recalled the effort and struggle over the last 12 years of building up a business. In 2008, I closed the doors of my first business Functional Strength Training. I went through three years where I was training one client in his living room. Then, 2011 I started up my current business, My Core Balance. Now I'm far from my end goal, but getting this far took faith and perseverance: tenacity. When you are endeavoring to achieve any goal, you will most likely want to quit multiple times. That is normal. Keep going anyway. Ever get to a place in your life where you're forced to make a big decision? Have you ever been so indecisive about you just did nothing? In this episode, I talk about the value of just making a decision. Sometimes we're not sure where a path will lead, and the only way to find out is to actually take that path. In this highly interconnected world of social media, how do you differentiate between who your client is and who a prospect is? Of course there are stages such as prospect and client, but I have found that it helps to think of everybody as a client. When you think of everyone as a client, you have no issues with helping everyone. You give generously, and people feel your sincerity and warmth, even if they are your client that is consuming your free products. For business success, I strongly recommend treating everybody as if they were a paying customer. Because someday they might be, might as well get used to treating them that way now, and they will also get used to being treated that way by you which will make the transition to becoming a paying customer easier.
