Two women on a whirlwind Middle Earth Adventure. Join self-proclaimed Lord of the Rings expert, Audrey, and Lord of the Rings newbie Kayla as they trek through Tolkien one chapter at a time.
Kayla Knight and Audrey Stolze
We're back with a mystery solved and a mystery gained! Kayla and Audrey dive deep into who exactly Strider is. As we get closer to the end of book 1, the stakes for the Shire Squar get ever higher...
After a very long summer hiatus, we're back with the final leg of book 1 of Fellowship of the Ring. Audrey and Kayla are back with Chapter 9 of the story, where Frodo and the Shire Squad find themselves up the proverbial creek without a paddle. Frodo and the gang put on quite a show in the Prancing Pony, and much to the chagrin of a new stranger, attract some unwanted attention from the general public.
In this episode, Audrey and Kayla journey with Frodo and Squad to the Barrow Downs that they were specifically warned to avoid by Tom Bombadil in Chapter 7.
After our mid-spring break, we're back with chapter 7 and a load of news! Chapter 7 finds Frodo, Merry, Pippin, and Sam in the house of the mysterious Tom Bombadil, and this episode comes in the middle of big life changes for Audrey and Kayla! Since you last saw us, we have new household members, exciting career news, and have joined the That's Not Canon Podcast Network!
Happy Easter everyone! We took a brief hiatus while Kayla was on spring break and for the Easter holiday to spend time with our families, but now we're back to our regular posting schedule. This week, we're taking a trip with the quartet into The Old Forest of Chapter 6. Frodo and company face an imposing, almost living forest that quite nearly gets them until an unlikely friend (not Gandalf, as Kayla thinks) shows up and gives them a hand.
The moral of the story so far: Frodo isn't as sneaky as he thinks he is. This week, we cover Chapter 5, A Conspiracy Unmasked. Frodo, Sam, Pippin and Merry are squad goals that all your friends should strive for and we can only be jealous of their superior support skills, both as friends and characters in a story. We discuss mushrooms at length and why Frodo isn't a good person to plan a surprise party with. In addition to a riveting conversation about bath time songs, you'll learn why Kayla hates olives and she and Audrey don't understand canned vegetables.
Welcome back to another episode of Mordor She Wrote. This time, we explore chapter 4 of The Fellowship of the Ring, in which Frodo, Sam, Pippin, and Merry decide to take a (not) short cut through a forest to escape the clutches of the Black Riders again. Then they meet up with Farmer Maggot, who urges them to move on and keep safe. Kayla gives Audrey a mini English 1 lesson about the Hero's Journey, and our beloved show mascot, Mel, misses a leap onto the bed! Kayla and Audrey delve into the third chapter of The Fellowship of the Ring. Frodo still hasn't heard from Gandalf and decides it's time to leave the Shire. Elrond and friends find Frodo on the side of the road and tell him to bust a move, and all the while Kayla still struggles with some pronunciations.
Please note, this podcast is full of spoilers for "The Lord of the Rings". We encourage you to read along if you would like, but listen after you read each chapter! Kayla and Audrey are back with a jaunt into the past. Gandalf has returned to the Shire, looking haggard and worn down. Smeagol becomes a murderer and Kayla discovered a new sound effect for correctly pronounced Middle Earthen (Middle Earthish? Middle Earthian?) names. Frodo decides it's time to leave the Shire in order to save it...what will happen next?
We hope everyone had very happy holidays and are excited to be back with our first chapter episode! In this one, Kayla and Audrey (re)cover chapter one after a stint of recording mishaps!
Audrey is a lifelong fan of the JRR Tolkien series, Lord of the Rings, while Kayla comes in with absolutely no knowledge of the books except a few forced readings of The Hobbit in school. In this, their first episode, Kayla and Audrey break down the prologue of book one, The Fellowship of the Ring, where we learn all about Tolkien's writing style, his love of languages, and a not-so-brief history of Middle Earth and the inhabitants therein.
Kayla has never read Lord of the Rings, but Audrey has. Welcome to Mordor She Wrote, a podcast of two friends taking an adventure for the first time through Middle Earth. In this episode, Kayla and Audrey discuss what exactly Kayla does and does not know about the world of hobbits.
