I'm not racist.... I have a Black Son. I'm not racist... I have a Black Husband or Boyfriend. These are things I heard often from White Women during the start of Civil War part 2. The words that still ring in my ears. These have been very strange times. A time where many uncomfortable conversations are happening. I think it is very important to share that even though you have a black son or a black husband/boyfriend. This does not mean that you know what it means to be a black woman, black man or black person. Welcome back to another Uncomfortable Conversation edition of Piece of Cake Podcast with Bree. I made a promise to myself, to continue to have those uncomfortable conversations. Because they are needed in order for our community to grow. I also want to make sure that ALL voices are heard & seen. I believe it is vital to have commentary about black and white people opinions and questions, we have about one another. This episode embodied this mission. We invited Ashley Weller of Southern Chic Style to the table and we could not have asked for a better guest. Ashley was open, honest & refreshing. Ashley's Brand Southern Chic Style focus is on the Southern Lifestyle...including fashion, food, home decor, beauty and travel. Ashley wants to inspire all women to become their best, no matter what phase of life they are in or what they have been through. This episode is here to remind you, do not be scared of these conversations-they will only make you grow. When we have these conversations, we are showing up for one another. And when we show up for each other. The world becomes a better place. We can never get too comfortable and now I think it’s time to have some real conversations. Now more than ever we need real connections and real stories to be shared. Join me in my first episode where I chat with one of my best friends Leah Frazier, twice Emmy Winner, named top 50 in DFW Innovations, Tedx speaker, Best Selling Author, and Founder & CEO of Think Three Media, where we have an uncomfortable conversation about the need for diversity, speaking up as a Black woman, and answering all the difficult questions no one likes to talk about. A diverse community is the only way we grow. For a long time I have spoken up about the lack of diversity. I spoke about it when it was NOT a "trending topic". So of course at many times it didnt fall on receptive ears. But this didn't stop me. Uncomfortable Conversations has been a thing for me before it became a hashtag. So welcome to the newly accepted "Uncomfortable Conversation" Follow Leah Frazier over on Instagram @theleahfrazier To continue with us on our journey go and follow the Iman Project on Instagram @theimanproject Visit our website at www.theimanproject.com
