What do you do when Jesus turns out to be someone or something other than what you thought He was or hoped He would be? Even Jesus disappointed people, not exactly seeming like the Messiah they had longed for. Sometimes we don't get what we want, but we get exactly what we need. Through Jesus, God has acted in human experience. Through Jesus, God has revealed that God is on your side. We see God's commitment to all people, especially the poor, the suffering, and the afflicted. Jesus offers us transformation beyond what we can imagine.

Jesus’ first sermon in his home congregation in Nazareth suggests otherwise. He reads words from many years earlier and emphatically states that they are relevant to today. Jesus’ words that day were so frightening that the crowd gathered tried to throw him off a cliff! In today however, we find meaning and focus for right now.
There are some things in life that we cannot outsource. Serving others is one of them. Find out how a life of service leads ultimately to heart for justice.
