What if the most loving thing isn't the comment everyone else is leaving? Has the church lost the fear of God? In this episode of Staff Talks, Francis reflects on a growing burden he feels for the modern church - a drift away from honor, biblical conviction, and the simple authority of Scripture. From teaching in prison to worshiping openly on Stanford's campus, Francis contrasts the fear of man with the fear of God and wrestles with what happens when culture, influence, and endless opinions begin shaping our understanding of truth. As more voices reinterpret long-held Christian beliefs, this conversation explores a few of the tensions many believers feel today: Who do we trust? How do we stay grounded? And what does it look like to hold to Scripture as our anchor in a sea of voices all vying to be the answer to our questions? More than anything, this episode is a call to return to a faith marked by reverence for God, confidence in His Word, the awareness that eternity is real, and a passionate pursuit of truth that leads us to love others well.
The life of the preacher matters, and in this searching message Dr Alan Stoddard calls Bible teachers back to integrity, honesty, holiness, and the fear of God.Originally delivered at an Expositors Collective training event in St Petersburg, Florida in 2025, this episode addresses one of the most urgent questions facing pastors and ministry leaders today: what kind of person should stand before God's people and handle God's Word?Alan speaks candidly about a church culture that has been painfully shaken by moral failure, abuse scandals, celebrity pastor collapses, plagiarism, hidden compromise, and failures of accountability. But this is not a message of cynicism or despair. It is a call to recover the fear of God, to live above reproach, and to remember that effective expository teaching flows from a life, not merely a process.Drawing from 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and the values of the Expositors Collective, Alan argues that preaching happens through the personality of the preacher, and that personality must be shaped by a real relationship with God. The preacher must not only explain Scripture accurately, but be formed by Scripture deeply. In this message, Alan highlights eight traits that should mark those who handle the Word of God: grace-filled, honest, secure, hard-working, bold, zealous, teachable, and sympathetic. He speaks directly about sermon plagiarism, the temptation to rely on artificial shortcuts, the need to write our own sermons, the courage to preach difficult texts, and the importance of proclaiming the gospel boldly without chasing celebrity, eloquence, or applause. For pastors, Bible teachers, small group leaders, and anyone entrusted with the ministry of the Word, this episode is a timely reminder: preach grace, but live as someone changed by grace; teach holiness, but do not become harsh or judgmental; proclaim the Word, but stand under it first. For information about our upcoming training events visit ExpositorsCollective.com Join our private Facebook group to continue the conversation: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ExpositorsCollective
Have we become too casual with a Holy God?In this message, Pastor Harrison Conley reminds us that rightly seeing God's holiness restores reverence, humility, and awe. Be encouraged to approach God boldly through Jesus, while never losing the wonder of who He truly is.
We're not meant to keep the Gospel to ourselves. We're called to pass it on. Advancing the mission of God requires passing the truth, goodness, and beauty of Christianity to the next generation. But how do we live that out? Join us for our opening message from Senior Pastor Chris Brooks and part 1 of our series, Passing the Baton, as we learn about discipleship and discuss how to carry the Gospel forward through the lens of Deuteronomy 6.

Weekly Vision Prayer Night with Brother Theodore Andoseh - 19th Vision Prayer Night - Year 2026
On this episode of The Lead On Podcast, Jeff Iorg, president of the SBC Executive Committee, discusses how God designed fear for our good—and how humility, obedience, and accountability help us recover a healthy, biblical fear of the Lord that transforms our lives and leadership.
Submission and surrender are two of the most misunderstood words in the Christian life - yet, at their core, they are the elements that make deep, lasting relationships possible. In this message from our Fear of God series, Pastor Holly explores how the call in Ephesians 5 for followers of Jesus to "submit to one another" is not about power or control, but about the kind of mutual honor that reflects the very nature of God. Because when we see God rightly, we know relationships are not elective - they are essential to living in the Kingdom of God. And understanding the difference impacts the way we show up in every relationship. Dr Jeffrey Arthurs joins Mike Neglia for a rich and encouraging conversation about preaching, courage, and the freedom that comes from fearing God rather than fearing people. The discussionincludes a striking quotation from Puritan preacher William Gurnall:"We fear men so much because we fear God so little. One fear cures the other."That idea opens the door to a wide ranging conversation about the fear of man in ministry and how a deeper awareness of God reshapes the way we preach, lead, and serve.Jeffrey Arthurs shares insights from decades of preaching, teaching, and mentoring preachers. Along the way he offers practical wisdom on understanding the people we preach to, communicating with clarity and specificity, and learning how different biblical genres should shape the way we proclaim Scripture. In this conversation you will hear about:The difference between fear of man and fear of the Lord in ministryWhy specificity makes preaching more powerfulThe importance of understanding both the biblical context and the congregational contextHaddon Robinson's Subject/Complement approach to sermon structureThe difference between feedback and feedforward when helping preachers growThe hidden hope inside biblical lamentWhy different literary genres in Scripture should influence our preaching styleWhether you are a seasoned preacher, a young Bible teacher, or someone who simply wants to communicate Scripture more clearly, this conversation is full of thoughtful encouragement and practical insight.About Jeffrey ArthursJeffrey D. Arthurs is Professor of Preaching and Communication at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. The Vanity of Life Under the Sun Without the Son, Pt. 8Worship and the Fear of GodEcclesiastes 5:1–7 | King's Chapel Live StreamWhat does it really mean to come into the presence of God?Ecclesiastes 5 slows us down and calls us to approach God with humility, reverence, and awareness. God is in heaven and we are on earth. That truth alone changes how we worship, how we speak, and how we live.In this message, we are reminded to guard our steps when we draw near to God. Worship is not casual or careless. It is a response to who God is. And yet, we are also invited into His presence. Not because we have earned it, but because God has made a way.Through Christ, the door is open. What we could never afford has been paid at an infinite cost. We are welcomed to come just as we are, while also being called to come with clean hands and a pure heart.Ecclesiastes also challenges us to watch our words. In a world full of noise, we are invited to listen more than we speak, to take God seriously, and to live with integrity before Him.Finally, this passage calls us to question our dreams. Not every ambition or desire leads to life. True wisdom begins with fearing God, surrendering to Him, and trusting that His plans are better than our own.If you have ever felt distant from God or unsure how to approach Him, this message invites you to come with humility, listen with intention, and trust the One who welcomes you in.Connect with King's Chapel in Longwood, FL - ▶️ www.kingschapelfl.com▶️ https://www.facebook.com/KingsChapelfl▶️ https://www.instagram.com/kingschapelfl/For the GLORY of our Great GodFor the GOOD of our NeighborEcclesiastes 5 sermon, fear of God Bible, worship reverence sermon, how to approach God, King's Chapel Longwood FL, guarding your steps sermon, watching your words Bible, surrender to God teaching
How might we stand in His holy place? We lay down idols. We remove any hindrance between God and us. We hate our sin and fear God. Give us clean hands and pure hearts, O Lord.
What if the very thing that seems to push us away from God is actually the path straight to Him? Pastor Olu unpacks Psalm 25:14 and argues that reverential fear isn't an obstacle to intimacy with God — it's the doorway into it. And the good news? It's not something you manufacture. It's a gift only God can give.GRACE CAPITAL CITY: "Reaching, raising, and releasing disciples for the glory of the King and the coming of His Kingdom."www.gracecapitalcity.com | @gracecapitalcitySunday Gatherings at 4pm | 2201 P St NW, Washington DC

Most people have been taught that the fear of God just means “respect” or “reverence”… but that's not the full truth. In this message, I break down what the Bible REALLY says about the fear of the Lord—and why it includes terror, awe, and trembling before a holy God. We've watered this down in modern Christianity, and it's costing people their eternity. If you've ever wondered:What does it actually mean to fear God?Why did people in the Bible fall on their faces in fear?Is the modern church missing something? This message will challenge everything you thought you knew.Support https://www.Isaiahsaldivar.com/partnerTo sow into this stream Monthly/ONE time/ https://bit.ly/2NRIBcM PAYPAL https://shorturl.at/eJY57www.Isaiahsaldivar.com www.Instagram.com/Isaiahsaldivar www.Facebook.com/Isaiahsaldivar www.youtube.com/IsaiahsaldivarOrder My New Book, “How To Cast Out Demons,” Here! https://a.co/d/87NYEfcTo sow www.Isaiahsaldivar.com/partner

Is Your Relationship with God Toxic? In a culture that has "Americanized" the Gospel, have we traded holy reverence for casual entitlement? In Part 2 of the "Fearless" series, we explore the thin line between being honest with God and being irreverent toward Him. We often claim to want a "relationship, not a religion," yet we frequently treat God with less respect than we give to our bosses, our donors, or even our neighbors. This message challenges us to re-examine our hearts. Are we offering God our best, or just our "begrudging leftovers"? Join us as we learn how to move from an arrogant fearlessness to a holy awe—realizing that true spiritual power is found not when we make God small, but when we finally recognize how big He truly is.—To connect, learn more or donate, visit gravetopchurch.com Follow us on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok by searching @gravetopchurch

Nobody wants a boss — and according to a prominent atheist philosopher, that's exactly the problem. Thomas Nagel, professor of philosophy at New York University and one of the most respected philosophers of the 20th and 21st centuries, made a startling admission: "I want atheism to be true" — not because the evidence demands it, but because the idea of God makes him uneasy. In this episode Raghunath and Kaustubha unpack what Nagel called the "cosmic authority problem" — the deeply human tendency to start with the conclusion we want and work backwards. The Bhagavad Gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam, ancient Sanskrit texts on consciousness and devotion, suggest something even more striking: what we're running from is exactly what we're looking for. The God we're afraid of — the cosmic authority, the judge, the warden — turns out to be something else entirely. In the 10th Canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam, Krishna is described not as an untouchable supreme force, but as a being whose very essence is to be controlled by love — the boss who finds his happiness in serving others, who becomes vulnerable so that love can be felt. The authority we've been running from turns out to be the love we've been searching for everywhere else. submitting to one another in the fear of God. [NKJV]
Today is day 82 and we are in the section on the Second Article of the Apostles' Creed on Jesus Christ the Son of God. Today we are on the twelfth line: “He will come again to judge the living and the dead”. 82. How do you rightly live in the fear of God? With the help of the Holy Spirit, I examine my conscience according to the Word of God. Particularly useful are the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount, as well as the godly counsel of fellow Christians and the moral teaching of the Church. (Exodus 20:1–17; Psalm 139:23–24; excerpts from Matthew 5–7; 1 Corinthians 4:1–5) We will conclude today with Prayer 80. For Trustfulness in Times of Worry and Anxiety found on page 670 of the Book of Common Prayer (2019). If you would like to buy or download To Be a Christian, head to anglicanchurch.net/catechism.
