Sarah is returning to the workforce after having her son three years ago. Sarah recently completed a Certificate III in individual support and wanted to gain employment in the Aged Care sector. Sarah completed her study via a blended learning approach (combination of face to face training and self-paced learning) As part of her study Sarah was required to complete 120 hours of work placement with a local aged care service provider. Samrah has a background in IT and is currently undertaking training to enable her to gain employment in the Aged Care sector in Port Macquarie. Our farming and agricultural sector in regional NSW has been affected by drought. This has created significant impact on farmers at multiple levels including Financial, Social and Emotional wellbeing, agriculture sector viability and reduced employment opportunities in the sector. Skillslink in collaboration with the Edmond Barton Centre and other community partners have developed and facilitated a series of "Viable Futures workshops" to support our farming community. The objective of the workshops is to bring together farm and agricultural sector business to share case studies of how to create new income streams within their existing farming operations. At a recent workshop, farmers identified the following skills needed in the sector.
