Apps promise friendship and love on demand, but researchers are discovering that relationships with artificial companions can deepen loneliness, foster dependence, and in tragic cases, contribute to self-harm.IN THIS EPISODE: A woman in England insists she's not from this planet—literally—claiming an extraterrestrial soul from a star cluster 440 light-years away occupies her human body. She's not alone in this belief, and she's turned her supposed alien origins into a thriving business coaching thousands of others who are convinced they're starseeds too. (Woman Claims To Be An Alien) *** In 1393, six dancers at a French royal ball wore costumes made of pitch-soaked linen sewn directly onto their bodies—then the king's drunken brother walked in with a torch and set them all on fire. Four men died screaming as their flaming costumes melted into their skin while horrified nobles watched, and the disaster pushed France's already-mad king deeper into psychosis and the kingdom closer to civil war. (The Ball of Burning Men) *** But first… Millions of people have formed deep emotional bonds with AI chatbots that promise companionship without judgment—but teenagers are dying by suicide after their digital companions encouraged self-harm instead of offering help. The apps are engineered to create dependency, and research shows the more comfort people get from AI, the less human connection they maintain, turning what feels like a lifeline into a trap. This SEO 101, Podcast 101, and Pinterest Business 101: Digital Marketing Masterclass with Favour Obasi-Ike | Sign up for exclusive SEO insights episode outlines how a podcast acts as the central content piece ("the meat of the sandwich"), supported by Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and the long-term visibility offered by Pinterest for distribution and content longevity. The discussion explores practical aspects of content creation, such as keyword research, the importance of authenticity and storytelling, and the value of having a consistent digital presence across multiple platforms to build trust and authority. The conversation also features audience participation, with tips exchanged regarding tools like SEMrush and LLMRefs, and an emphasis on how a personal voice acts as a business's currency and brand identity.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Next Steps for Digital Marketing + SEO Services:>> Need SEO Services? The digital marketing world is a constant barrage of advice: "You have to be on TikTok," "Run more ads," "Post on Instagram three times a day." It's overwhelming, noisy, and often leads to a scattered strategy that feels more like throwing spaghetti at a wall than building a sustainable business. But what if there was a simpler, more powerful formula? After a deep dive into an expert discussion on modern content strategy, a surprisingly clear framework emerged: SEO + Podcasting + Pinterest. Think of it as a "digital marketing sandwich." SEO and Pinterest are the buns, providing structure and long-term discoverability. The meat in the middle is your podcast—the core of your message, the engine for trust, and the source of all your content. This approach brings clarity, structure, and a self-reinforcing system to your marketing efforts.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------1. Your Content's Lifespan: The 5-Month Rule of PinterestDifferent platforms treat your content in vastly different ways. A post on most social feeds might have a relevant lifespan of 72 hours before it's lost in the algorithm. This is the most surprising truth revealed: Pinterest is in a league of its own, with an average content lifespan of five months. This isn't just a minor difference; it's a game-changer. It reframes your content from a fleeting post into an evergreen asset. Imagine you had two storage units, both costing the same price. Storage A expires in 72 hours, while Storage B gives you five months. Which would you choose for your valuable assets? Content on Pinterest works for you for months, continually driving traffic and awareness long after you've published it."If you do that for your content on Pinterest, that's what you'll be creating because Pinterest has a a span of 5 months. So let's say you have a podcast you've done that's 5 minutes long. 5 minutes podcast episode that turns into a fivemon timeline."In essence, the speaker illustrates how a small, five-minute piece of content gains a five-month lifespan, creating an outsized return on the initial time investment.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------2. The Podcast as a Secret SEO EngineMany people think of a podcast as just an audio file. In reality, it's a powerful, multi-faceted tool for search engine optimization. Each episode offers seven distinct slots where you can submit strategic "intel" to platforms like Apple and Spotify, telling their algorithms precisely what your content is about. These seven SEO opportunities within a single episode are:• Podcast Cover Art• Episode Cover Art• Episode Title• Episode Description• Podcast Title• Podcast Description• The Author NameThis is incredibly impactful because it gives you numerous chances to signal your relevance. The title fields offer around 40-60 characters for your primary keywords, while the description fields give you a massive canvas of up to 4,000 characters to elaborate. By consistently embedding keywords across these seven slots, you create a clear, algorithm-friendly footprint that dramatically boosts your visibility and helps your target audience find you when they're searching for solutions.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------3. The Myth of "No Time": The Surprising Math of ConsistencyOne of the biggest hurdles for creators is the belief that producing consistent content, like a podcast, takes too much time. However, the math tells a different, far less intimidating story. Producing 75 podcast episodes in a single year might sound daunting. But let's break it down.Assuming one hour per episode, that's just 75 hours out of the 8,760 hours available in a year. This means you would spend less than 1% of your total time to build an entire library of valuable content. This simple calculation reframes the commitment from an overwhelming burden to a manageable, high-leverage activity."If you do 75 five episodes in a span of 365 days... That is less than 1% of your time in a year that you've spent on a podcast that has a lifespan of anywhere from 24 hours to 24 months."The true power lies in that contrast: a sub-1% time investment creates a powerful asset with a lifespan of up to two years. The return on investment is immense, turning small, consistent efforts into a long-term marketing engine.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------4. The 5% Rule of Listening: Why Your Message Isn't StickingHere is a counter-intuitive psychological truth that every marketer must understand: when someone listens to new information for the first time, they typically only acquire 5% of it.For a listener to reach 90% acquisition—the point where they truly understand a concept and could teach it back to someone else—they need repeated exposure. This has a massive implication for content creators. Your message will not stick after a single episode or post. This is why repetition, multi-format content (repurposing your podcast into blogs, social media posts, and pins), and clear, simple messaging are not just good ideas; they are essential. The real value is in reinforcing your core message over time and across platforms, moving your audience from 5% awareness to 90% understanding.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------5. Your Voice Builds the Bridge of TrustUltimately, a podcast's most profound power lies in the raw, human element of your voice. It serves as the cornerstone and anchor for your message. Text and images can inform, but your voice builds a relationship. Over time, as people listen to you consistently, they develop a "listen score," which directly translates into a "trust score."This is the bedrock of all effective marketing, because as any strategist knows, before you can earn dollars, you must earn trust. A podcast creates that bridge between you and your audience that static content cannot replicate. When people trust your voice, they are more likely to click your link, visit your website, and engage with your content. This trust makes every other part of your marketing machine—your SEO, your Pinterest strategy, your email campaigns—exponentially more effective."When you create a podcast, it creates that bridge of trust because now you can listen to me, you can call me out, you can say whatever you want... because of what you hear."--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Conclusion: Building Your Digital Marketing SandwichThe path to effective digital marketing doesn't have to be a chaotic scramble. By combining the foundational elements of SEO (capturing search intent), Podcasting (building trust and creating the core message), and Pinterest (creating a long-term, searchable content library), you build a robust, self-reinforcing system. It's a strategy that turns one piece of core content into a marketing engine that works for you for months, even years. This isn't about doing more work; it's about making the work you do more intelligent and interconnected. It's about building a system where each part strengthens the others, creating sustainable growth and a genuine connection with your audience. Now that you've seen the recipe, what part of your own digital marketing 'sandwich' have you been neglecting—the search-friendly buns or the trust-building meat in the middle?See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

From WWII soldiers in New Guinea to pygmy tribes in the Congo, eyewitnesses across multiple continents have reported encountering spiders with bodies the size of puppies and dinner plates—yet science insists such creatures cannot exist.IN THIS EPISODE: Something came out of the river near New Richmond, Ohio – those who saw it said it was a kind of alien lifeform, and utterly indescribable. What was the strange creature that has come to be known as Octoman? (The Ohio Octoman) *** Drivers were convinced they'd spotted the infamous Blue Bell Hill ghost on the A229 in February 2019. Opinión: El desprecio al oyente en el podcasting

    Al otro lado del micrófono

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 21, 2025 21:08 Transcription Available

Dr. Rachel Gatlin entered neuroscience with curiosity and optimism. Then came chaos. She started her PhD at the University of Utah in March 2020—right as the world shut down. Her lab barely existed. Her advisor was on leave. Her project focused on isolation stress in mice, and then every human on earth became her control group. Rachel fought through supply shortages, grant freezes, and the brutal postdoc job market that treats scientists like disposable parts. When her first offer vanished under a hiring freeze, she doubled down, rewrote her plan, and won her own NIH training grant. Her story is about survival in the most literal sense—how to keep your brain intact when the system built to train you keeps collapsing.RELATED LINKS• Dr. Rachel Gatlin on LinkedIn• Dr. Gatlin's Paper Preprint• Dr. Eric Nestler on Wikipedia• News Coverage: Class of 2025 – PhD Students Redefine PrioritiesFEEDBACKLike this episode? Harry is described by Search Engine Watch as a dominant recruiter in client side multichannel, the in multi-channel e-commerce space. He is an executive recruiter for marketing and eCommerce. He has been interviewed by success magazine and he has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, marketing, Sherpas, Great Minds in Marketing series, Businessweek, USA, TODAY.com, Internet Retailer, and many more. He has closed dozens of manager, director, VP and C-level ecommerce searches for some of the following companies. A&E television. Adidas American signature brands. Ashford. Com. Backcountry. Com. Boot barn. Com Columbia Sportswear. And many, many more. So welcome to the podcast, Harry.Harry 00:00:48  Thank you so much. Great to be here, Harry.Josh 00:00:50  I think what's interesting there, you mentioned, you know, you have a small firm, right? You're well experienced. Your results speak for themselves. If people go check out your LinkedIn profile, there's raving reviews of people that have worked with Harry.Josh 00:01:04  so, Harry 150, you know, companies are going to apply to kind of hire your services. What what are you looking for is you kind of determine what are the 50 you're going to work work with. What's the difference between those that you say no to versus the ones that you say yes to and why?Harry 00:01:22  Sure. It's a great question. well, so when people pitch us on a deal, so they pitch me into Alan and it's a little bit like if you've ever seen a concept pitched on Shark Tank, it's a little bit like that. Alan and I are very particular about the deals that we take, and I think I learned this watching entourage back in the, you know, 2000, 2008 through 12 or something that in Hollywood, the richest actors aren't the richest actors because they're the best actors. They're the richest actors because they get the best scripts. It's a lot like that as an e-commerce recruiter. So we like searches that can be closed on the back of a single story, right? So the brand, the you know, the client, they know what their business is about and who their business is for and what their unique selling proposition is.Harry 00:02:20  So why should anyone do business with them versus any option available to them? including doing nothing. we look for the underlying economics of the client's business. So do we understand how they make money? Do they understand how they make money? Do they understand how they're going to make money in the future? We tend to take a good hard look, at things like size and scope of a 12 month file. We'll look at things like average order value. We'll look at things like recurring revenue and order frequency. We'll look at, what it takes to actually bring that concept toe to life. You know, the purpose and values and viewpoint of the brand, and we'll look at a variety of different factors to try and determine whether our audience, which is the top 3% of people in the e-commerce industry. I mean, 97% of the candidates that watch this podcast aren't going to they're not we wouldn't represent them on a deal anyway because we're out there looking for load bearing walls. I mean, this sounds super salesy, but the fact of the matter is, when people come to me and Alan, they expect us to be in the organizational transformation business, right? You come to us looking for a Steph Curry, a Michael Jordan, a Tom Brady.Harry 00:03:41  That's that. And it is like being an agent in Hollywood and the best candidates in the industry, the people who are capable of plugging and playing and being a load bearing wall in our client's business, they want to make sure that they can do reputation enhancing work. That's really what it boils down to. And that means that in terms of the search, the client has the budget, the authority, the need, the timeline and the hiring process to knock good candidates in versus knock them out. And, the business has favorable underlying economics that the client has clarity and ability and resolve, you know, commitment towards e-com. And those are the things, honestly, that you need for an a player to do reputation enhancing work in your business.Josh 00:04:30  Yeah, I love the, the strategy that or the analogy that you made there with, you know, hiring like the Michael Jordan's or Steph Curry's right. If you think about that. You know, as a business owner. Right. If you want to attract a Michael Jordan or a Steph Curry.Josh 00:04:46  Right. If you're an NBA owner, you've got to have a good team. Right. And you've got to have a good vision and say, hey, here's the teammates that you'd be working alongside. ...

In this episode of The Rainmaking Podcast, Scott Love talks with Tony Karls, co-founder of Sterling Lawyers and president of Rocket Clicks, about using a podcast as a practical business-development engine. Tony explains how his team built Revenue Roadmap, a single show with two recurring formats—growth stories on Tuesdays and how-to education on Thursdays—to balance entertainment with tangible value. The podcast is treated as a cornerstone content asset: every episode is repurposed across video, audio, blogs, and social channels to reach prospects where they prefer to consume. Tony stresses keeping the show unscripted and authentic, niching hard on a clear avatar (for him, family-law firm owners), and partnering with the right communities (e.g., AAML) to book high-quality guests and create “network effects” that turn conversations into relationships. Tony shares what's worked—and what hasn't. With only ~68,000 family-law firms in the U.S. (most with ≤3 attorneys), chasing big vanity metrics is a distraction; serving a small, precise audience with specific problems wins. His playbook: start earlier than you think, accept that your first 40–50 episodes are reps, and move fast with “decision velocity”—ship, measure, iterate. Three takeaways for rainmakers who want to adopt the model: (1) define a narrow ICP and build episodes around their real pains; (2) deliver consistent, authentic conversations (video + audio) and atomize each episode across platforms; (3) calendar guest outreach like a pipeline (aim for 2–3 quality bookings a week), then let data—not ego—guide what you double down on next. ¿Por qué sigues cortando las salchichas? Reflexión podcastera sobre la herencia

    Al otro lado del micrófono

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 20, 2025 5:00 Transcription Available

If you've ever felt like podcasting is equal parts joy and chaos, you're in good company. In this episode, I sit down with Darrell Darnell, the founder of Pro Podcast Solutions, to talk about what it actually takes to build a show that lasts. Darrell's been producing podcasts since the early days, and he's seen just about every possible mistake, burnout cycle, and “why am I doing this?” moment creators run into. What I love about Darrell is that he's built his entire career around making podcasting sustainable, not stressful. From fan-driven shows like Fringe and Stranger Things to deeply personal storytelling with Stuff I Learned Yesterday, he's developed systems that keep creators focused, consistent, and connected to their audience without running themselves into the ground. We get into the heart of it all: community, pillars, workflow, and why quality matters more than perfection. Whether you're brand new or you've been at this for years, this conversation is a reminder that podcasting doesn't have to take over your life. It really can be something you enjoy week after week… as long as you approach it with the right mindset and a solid foundation.Key TakeawaysConsistency always wins. Your publishing rhythm trains your audience. Stick to a schedule they can rely on.Community keeps podcasts alive. Darrell built long-lasting shows by treating listeners like real people, not download numbers.Content pillars prevent burnout. Defining 3–4 themes gives you endless episode ideas and simplifies planning. You don't need a “perfect” launch. Disneyland had a disastrous opening day and turned out fine. Same idea here.Let your audience guide your format. Episode length, structure, and segment ideas become obvious when you actually ask (and watch your analytics).Fan-based shows live and die with the source material. If you're podcasting about a TV series or franchise, expect to shift gears when the show ends.Your unique angle matters. Darrell's early success came from having a dedicated science expert on a sci-fi podcast—find the thing that sets you apart.Your purpose powers longevity. When things get tough, the “why” behind your show is what keeps you going.Great production doesn't have to be complicated. A few smart tools can elevate your audio without requiring hours of editing.ResourcesPro Podcast Solutions – Foundation Toolkit: https://propodcastsolutions.com/creator (Darrell's free planning guide + spreadsheet he mentioned during the episode)Pro Podcast Solutions: https://propodcastsolutions.comDarrell's Podcasts on Golden Spiral Media: https://goldenspiralmedia.com (It's a great time to binge The Stranger Things Podcast before season 5 comes out!)----------------------Ecamm - Your go-to solution for crafting outstanding live shows and podcasts. The Untold Story of Amboog-a-Lard and the Making of “A New Hope” with Chad Steinhart, Dan Fontana, & John Somerlade //////// One of our most anticipated episodes is finally here! For the first time, three-quarters of the “A New Hope” Amboog-a-Lard lineup, Chad Steinhart (keyboards), Dan Fontana (guitar/vocals), and John Somerlade (drums), join the podcast to share the full story of the band. From their late 1980s roots in Coral Springs, FL, and influences like KISS, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Anthrax, to rehearsal spaces and local venues including Club Soda (Coral Springs), The Treehouse and The Button South (Hallandale), Reunion Room and The Edge (Ft. Lauderdale), and Washington Square and the Cameo Theater (Miami Beach), as well as guidance from TCA Management (John Tovar and Frank Callari), this episode covers it all. The band talks about the origins of their name, lineup changes, album artwork, the making of their 1993 album “A New Hope” (recorded at Studio 13 in Deerfield with Jeremy Staska, mastered at Criteria Studios in Miami, and recently remastered at TyFy Studios in Orlando by Dan Fontana), several close calls being signed by major labels like Atlantic, Capitol, and Island Records, and stories from opening for Overkill, Exodus, Anthrax, Corrosion of Conformity, and punk legends The Ramones, as well as sharing the stage with countless local bands of the era including Malevolent Creation, Raped Ape, Cynic, Saigon Kick, Marilyn Manson, and The Itch, and their relationship with Glenn Richards, South Florida radio DJ on 103.5 WSHE.The band also shares stories about Jeordie White, the band's bassist who later joined Marilyn Manson (though he does not appear in this episode), along with untold anecdotes from their early days. For anyone who experienced the South Florida metal and alternative scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s, this episode is pure nostalgia. For those discovering it now, it is packed with rich history and behind-the-scenes stories never shared before.
