She talks about her experiences with being with cis men and how they view trans women and affected her relationships. Kennidi gets emotional talking about losing her partner in 2014 and about her relationship with her trans husband and how the gender norms have shaped her life and why she has started to break them down. She also discusses why she wrote her latest single Kings & Queens (which can be heard on the opening of all our shows) a trans anthem. She wanted a message for trans and gender non conforming people can have to dance to and be their anthem. It is a crucial time in America for LGBTQIA+ people. Should Trans Queens Be on Drag Race?

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 7, 2020 35:04

This week Kennidi goes deep into the controversy that has been swirling around for years about trans queens being able to compete on Rupaul's Drag Race. So, many people say it wouldn't be fair for trans queens against cis male drag queens because it won't be fair. Kennidi uses examples like Miss Continental Pageant, which is a trans dominated pageant that has had cis male drag queens compete and win and they never said they can't compete. Drag is about transitioning into something, not about changing gender. This week Kennidi talks about drag and how it has affected her life since she was a kid. She talks about her time in Chicago and how it was hard to get a gig if you were trans, only trans people that got work was Continental Girls. The real question is, should Ru leave Drag Race? Should trans and all forms of drag be allowed on show just like Dragula has done? Kennidi is a fan of drag, and loves all versions of drag and feels things need to change on Drag Race. Also, we talk about the first episode of Canada's Drag Race, and what Kennidi thought of Brooklyn Hytes as the host. Lastly, Kennidi watches Drag Race for the queens and some of her friends and has made friends with the queens like JuJuBe, and she talks about love for her and Season 5 All Stars! Trans Pride

Today is the last day of Pride Month and we can't leave it without talking about Trans Pride. Many times in the LGBTQ+ community, trans people have felt left out of Pride. If it wasn't for two trans women of color, we most likely wouldn't have the rights we have today. Even though most of all the Pride celebrations were cancelled this year due to COVID-19, it has helped us educated and learn more about Pride and how we need to fight for Black Lives. In today's episode Kennidi Monroe talks about the Stonewall Uprising, Marsha P. Johnson and Silvia Rivera and how trans women of color have shaped and molded her into the woman she is today. We also discuss the trans documentary Disclosure on Netfilx and how that movie has made Kennidi look back on her life and how badly she wanted to be an actor but felt like being trans would never allow that to happen. She talks about how she turned to drag and the adult industry to fill that void of wanting to be an actor. As we end this month of Pride remember to carry that pride on with you for more than just one month. Carry it to the voting booths this November. Check out more of Kennidi visit her site http://kennidimonroe.com

Kennidi Monroe returns after 10 years off the air to bring you the first episode of TTalk101 (formally known as TrannyTalk101.) She pays tribute to Reina, telling stories about how Reina was a big part of her life and transition. In 2005, when TTalk101 was released it was groundbreaking. It is Pride Month, and to kick off her first episode back she talks about how important the trans movement is. Why the Black Trans Lives Movement is important for the trans movement. How we need to be better as white trans siblings. We need to speak out and create change in the LGBTQIA+ community. Kennidi talks about situations she was in that if she was black, the scenario would be totally different. She expresses her white privilege and how Trans Women of Color are the real reason she is who she is today. So, many Trans POC have helped her in her journey. This show is dedicated to them.
