The ridiculously fun new film Stop! That! Train! brings the gags-a-minute silliness of Airplane! to the bawdy world of RuPaul's Drag Race. But does it chug along smoothly or does it veer off the rails? RuPaul stars as the president of the United States who must help save a train from a massive stormaganza. Drag queens Jujubee and Ginger Minj are train attendants aboard the runaway train filled with Drag Race alumni and comedy heavy-hitters who are here to serve looks and bring the shade. This month on Laura Flanders and Friends, we're revisiting conversations around solidarity, kinship and what it means to be human. This week we celebrate Marsha P Johnson's life and legacy with two trans activists who are carrying on her work. This show is made possible by you! Make a one off donation or make it monthly at LauraFlanders.org/donate. Description: Activist and artist Marsha P. Johnson was one of the key founders of the gay liberation movement after the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, but it's taken years for her to receive recognition. On this special Pride Month edition of “Meet the BIPOC Press”, we're celebrating Marsha's life and legacy with two activists carrying her story forward. A new biography from Penguin House, “Marsha: The Joy and Defiance of Marsha P. Johnson” by our guest, Tourmaline traces Marsha's working-class beginnings to her work with sex workers and street activists, to her death in 1992. Qween Jean is a self-described “spiritual daughter” of Marsha and the founder of Black Trans Liberation. Explore how mainstream media coverage once excluded Marsha, and what's changed since then. We also unpack the media's coverage of transphobia and the recent ruling from Tennessee that restricts gender-affirming care for minors. In the face of extreme backlash and repression, how are artists and activists reframing media narratives for queer and trans liberation? “A lot of trans and queer people, especially here in New York City, that are asylum seekers that have had to leave other countries from persecution now find themselves in a place of purgatory . . . They can't even go to get a hormone shot because they're afraid. What if ICE is literally outside waiting for us?” - Qween Jean “Marsha knew that these conditions didn't get to determine how she felt about herself. No court, no Supreme Court, no police officer, no governor, no president . . . She was creating the conditions to remind herself and each other that we too get to feel beautiful and know our value firmly.” - Tourmaline Guests: • Qween Jean: Founder, Black Trans Liberation; Human Rights Activist & Costume Designer • Tourmaline: Artist; Author, MARSHA: The Joy and Defiance of Marsha P. Johnson Watch the episode released on YouTube; PBS World Channel 11:30am ET Sundays, and on over 300 public stations across the country (check your listings, or search here via zipcode). Fred joins us to discuss the Project Drag programme from Slingshot. It feels like this has been a long time coming now, but thats maybe as we've talked on and off about it a lot already. Liams got a setup and he's also been riding his home made board which is based off Kens shape as well.Nows the time to delve deeper into how its going for Slingshot though and why they chose to go this route. Fred discusses how setting up their discord forum has enabled him to talk directly to the consumer and figure out which direction to take things. We know we've not been around for a while - its been peaceful! We've a few episodes coming up though, so while we might not be weekly again just yet - theres more to look forward to!

My guest on this episode is Andrew L. Erdman, who is the author of the new book: Beautiful — The Story of Julian Eltinge, America's Greatest Female Impersonator. In the late 19th and early 20th Century — long before the fierce television Drag stars of today — a specific style of drag performance known as Female Impersonation was wildly popular on stage and screen — in America and around the world. And no female impersonator was more famous, successful, or highly regarded than Julian Eltinge. Although barely remembered today, in his time, Eltinge was on a par with Al Jolson, Eddie Cantor, and Fanny Brice, and was so popular and renowned that he even had a Broadway theater named after him! That theater still exists, and you can still go there and see Julian Eltinge — but you will have to listen to the episode(s) to find out where and how. Author Andrew Erdman has immersed himself in this remarkable era of show biz history; his previous book was the equally fascinating Queen of Vaudeville: The Story of Eva Tanquay Become a PATRON of Broadway Nation! This Pride Month, Damn You Hollywood examines three acclaimed queer films from very different worlds: Dallas Buyers Club (2013), Cassandro (2023), and Solo (2023). We explore how each project came together, from the long development of Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack's Oscar-winning AIDS drama, to Roger Ross Williams' adaptation of the real-life lucha libre legend Cassandro, to Sophie Dupuis' intimate Canadian drama set in Montreal's drag scene. We'll discuss the casting of Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto, Gael García Bernal, Théodore Pellerin and Félix Maritaud, the directing choices that shaped each film, and how production realities influenced the stories that ultimately reached the screen.Beyond the behind-the-scenes history, we'll examine the critical and commercial reception of all three films. Why did Dallas Buyers Club become an awards-season powerhouse despite modest box office expectations? Why was Cassandro celebrated by critics yet largely bypassed by mainstream audiences? Why did Solo earn festival acclaim while remaining relatively unknown outside cinephile circles? We'll also tackle the controversies and criticisms surrounding each film, including historical accuracy, representation debates, narrative choices, and the challenges of bringing LGBTQ stories to wider audiences. Join us as we look beyond Pride Month labels and evaluate these films as works of cinema, business ventures, and cultural artifacts.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59
Besos y almuerzos

On this episode of the Foil Life Podcast, Luc Moore sits down with Trent Carter and Edo Tanas for an in-depth conversation about Project Drag— Slingshot's groundbreaking effort to revolutionize foiling by slashing drag and maximizing connection from the first touch of the water to top-end speed.Trent and Edo dive into the development of a highly refined board system and the game-changing adjustable Tuttle mast and box designed by Michael McKinley. They share stories from an epic collaborative testing trip on Maui's North Shore with the full team — including Ken Adgett, Kyle Touhey, Gabriel Verrier-Paquette and others — where prototypes were iterated daily through intense prone foiling, downwinders, wave riding, and side-by-side feedback sessions. The duo explains how the new setup eliminates board distractions on touchdowns, delivers direct feel through the Tuttle connection, and creates a confidence-inspiring platform that lets riders focus purely on the foil — whether surfing small waves, ripping downwinders, or progressing in wing foiling. They also touch on the engineering trade-offs, team dynamics, late-night prototype tweaks, and why this tech could set a new standard across the sport.Episode Highlights:- The origins of Project Drag and the quest to minimize drag across the entire foil system- How the new board design (volume + smart rail contours) makes big boards feel small and incredibly forgiving on touchdowns and rail smashes- The revolutionary adjustable Tuttle mast/box — direct connection, reduced drag, and why it raises the bar for performance- Epic Maui testing stories: prototype sessions, jet ski shoots, jujitsu on the beach, and turning grown men into a focused R&D machine- Why the system shines for prone foiling, downwinders, wing foiling, and wave riding — with real-world breakthroughs in small surf and open ocean- Future plans, race season prep, and the broader implications for the foiling industryA fun, technical, and highly stoked conversation packed with insights for anyone serious about foiling performance, gear innovation, and the collaborative process behind cutting-edge watersports products.Check their riding and latest content on Instagram: Trent Carter & Edo Tanas & Brought to you by Waterspeed App — the ultimate app for tracking, analyzing, and competing in wing, wind, kite, and foiling. Send us Fan MailIn conjunction with our recent episode on Canyon County Pride, we're resharing this past episode with drag queen Cookie Pusss. Drag queens are living proof that courage can come in sequins, heels, and unapologetic self-expression. They show us every day that bravery isn't just about facing danger—it's about showing up fully as yourself, even when the world might not be ready for it, and that sometimes courage looks like meeting hate with humor, compassion, and a touch of glitter. Today In the Den Sara sits down with the one and only Cookie Pusss, whose video of her powerful and surprisingly tender exchange with an anti-LGBTQ Christian protester outside the Canyon County Pride Festival went viral earlier this year. What could have been just another confrontation turned into a moment of connection, curiosity, and radical grace that captured the Internet's attention. This week on the Friday Deploy, Ben and Andrew unpack the AI build-versus-buy debate, Microsoft's new independent foundation models, and the growing revolt of mathematicians against unsubstantiated AI-generated proofs. The hosts also explore Stanford's Socratic rulebook for AI coding assistants and discuss Kent Beck's warning that engineering teams need to build "trust factories" to counter the rapid chaos of AI-assisted development. Finally, they close with a defense of Linux primitives and why you should probably be using a systemd timer instead of the latest shiny AI tool. Andy and Tom originally recorded this shortly after watching the Man On The Run documentary back in February, as it sparked some really interesting conversation among fans. One topic that has always fascinated us is Paul's infamous “It's A Drag” comment regarding the tragic death of John Lennon — a quote that, in our opinion, has been widely misunderstood for decades. After seeing the documentary, and especially hearing Sean Lennon's thoughtful understanding of the moment, we felt it was worth revisiting the subject in a deeper way. Add in the differences between British and American colloquialisms, and it's easy to see how Paul's words were interpreted very differently than intended. Either way… you knew we were going to defend our guy here. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Charles Burton and Gordon Chang analyze China's strategic gain from prolonged conflict in the Middle East, with Beijing appearing content to allow the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz to drag out as a way to deplete U.S. military resources. This instability supports China's narrative that the United States is a declining power. (8)1900 SAINT LAWRENCE BASIN
