Recap - Less is more, right? I have been embracing a better life with less. Less things and less needs to make room for more in my life. Living in a van has taught me to reduce the physical items around me. Cleaning up my physical items helped me sort through my thoughts and make decisions. This is essentialism. The link to Greg McKowen's book I have been embracing is below. Exercise - Make a list of the "things" that clutter your mind. These things include thoughts about relationships in your life, how you talk to yourself, and what you think you need to do. Then ask yourself: why? Why do I need to do these things in my life? And do I need this? Recap: Just one month ago, would you imagine the life you'd be living now? As times change, we do too. Opportunities shift and new windows open up. In this episode, I share about my past month and some opportunities I had to make a decision on. Last month I was asking myself if I had to leave my dream life in Bali and find a new place to live. Spoiler alert... I did move and am now living in New Zealand! Exercise: What opportunities are present in your life now? What opportunities were present last month? Notice how they shifted so that you're not living in the past. (Think: habits, what you're learning, thinking, how you're communicating with others...)
Duration - 10 min 22 sec RECAP - Traveling solo hasn't always been rainbows and butterflies. Some of the greatest growing opportunities has arose when I let myself be and feel what is going on in my body. As triggers and internal responses come up, sometimes the hardest part is to SLOW DOWN to allow your body to experience the emotion. Sometimes we THINK the easiest thing is to speed up our life, but in turn, we might just be missing out on whatever sign is before us. Whatever lesson life wants us to learn. Exercise - 1. Notice do you crave more or less in your life. 2. Give yourself that; even if slowing down feels really uncomfortable and new for you, it might just be what you need. ex: rest, journal, walk, move your body, reflect on your own, paint... etc.
Duration - 9 min 51 sec RECAP - Meeting new people is always thrilling and exciting! But it can also take a lot of confidence and courage to make move to introduce yourself. When in Bali, I have noticed the internal stories I tell myself as I meet new people and share new experiences. Exercise - Take a look back at your triggers. What are the internal stories that come up around those triggers? What do you tell yourself? EX: you are weird; need to please others; not worthy; not successful, etc.
Duration - 12 min 25 sec RECAP - Triggers are the buttons that others push on us. Triggers cause us to react in ways that are not true to us. Let's start observing them as triggers and NOT as our worth. We are more than a trigger. In this episode, I used an example of a way I was triggered by a boss in my former engineering work environment and how to work through it. Exercise - 1. In your day-to-day life, what situations trigger you? Who triggers you? (think: coworkers, certain tasks) 2. How does it make you feel? (ex: like you want to run away, or anger) 3. Why do you feel that way? Why is this a trigger? (trace it back through your life)
