In their newest podcast release, the Drinking Partners highlight Revival Chili, after they offer a hilarious examination of the business casual look. Jordan Robarge - Revival Chili’s founder - speaks on his food truck’s founding and mission, one that includes second chances, open hiring, and in-depth training. In addition, he talks about their expansion to include Nancy’s Diner, which allows Revival to employ more people and expand their community reach. Ed and Day chow down on a spicy chicken chili, which leads to some Drinking Partners confessions. Blending both the diner and food truck, Nancy’s features chili and waffles, in addition to a full menu. And BYOB, which Ed and Day take credit for as they veer off topic in their amusing ways. The interview concludes with Jordan talking about Revival’s expansion and outreach plans, intermixed with more of Ed and Day’s rants and raves. There are plenty of people that think they have a good chili recipe. Very few bet their careers on it. That’s what first caught our eye about Jordan Robarge.   After working in the startup world as a Venture for America fellow, Jordan started a food truck business called Revival Chili. He found success quickly and was profitable within three months.   Revival Chili’s business is simple: Sell delicious chili products to the people of Pittsburgh in a tiny house style food truck. What makes it different, is Revival’s focus on creating jobs for unemployed ex-offenders, a disadvantaged group often overlooked in U.S. Cities.   After proving his business chops, Jordan doubled down and bought a diner. The goal is to put even more people to work.   In this conversation, Aaron and Jordan discuss how he cold-called his way to early success, how you can buy a business for less than $100,000, and what the Revival brand represents.   Jordan’s food truck, Revival Chili, will be a lunch option at the 2019 Going Deep Summit.   Jordan’s Challenge; Go out and connect with 5 people from different background. Have a tangible take away from each conversation.   Connect with Jordan Linkedin   Revival Chili Facebook   Nancy’s Revival Facebook   If you liked this interview, check out episode 157 with Andrew Yang where we discuss the start of Venture for America, why more people need to work at startups, and how other cities will benefit from this focus. Jordan Robarge is the founder of Revival Chili, a graduated fellow at Venture for America, a professional ultimate frisbee player, and he hasn't cut his hair for 3 years. With an interesting and serendipitous story that includes getting arrested... Jordan eventually launched a successful crowdfunding campaign raising $28,000 to get his chili truck off the ground. Oh yeah, and the coolest part is that Revival Chili employees re-entering citizens (ex-convicts). --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-fishbowl/support

StartUp Burgh Pittsburgh Entrepreneurs, StartUps, Business and Resources

In this special episode number 22, I talk with Jordan Robarge who founded Revival Chili. Many people around Pittsburgh have already tasted Jordan's chili, and now he's looking for support from this community to take his business to the next level with a mobile food trailer. I talk with Jordan about starting his business, and also speak with one of his early employees Jacob. Revival Chili has a social mission to provide opportunities of employment to previously incarcerated individuals, and our conversations lead me to talk with Michael Van Ness from the Pittsburgh organization facilitating this aspect: Zero Six Eight. I also get a chance to talk with Christian Ference (CEO/co-founder) of Cropolis, which is building technology infrastructure that helps food business do business. It's an action packed episode, I can't wait for you to hear it!
