TechBae is a company started by five women in the ad tech industry looking to build a community of supporting and uplifting under-represented women. Seema, Christina, Brenda, Sarah, and Heather all got together one night to catch up, share some wine, and commiserate together on the craziness of working in the media. There they discovered that their small community and conversation was so rewarding and impactful that they wanted to share it, just like that bottle of wine. And thus, TechBae was born. Their first event was held in 2018, where over 50 female executives from leading ad tech and media companies got together to lift up and empower one another. TechBae's goal is to advance equality by creating meaningful connections and developing opportunities for women and men across all levels within the ad tech and media landscape. In this episode, we discuss: · How media amplifies what we create and increases the need for accountability. · Why amplifying female voices is so powerful now, as it could inspire the generation watching it to do the same. · Why it's better for a company to have diversified voices. · How to power through your roadblocks instead of backing off. · How to not be afraid to use your voice in a room full of male executives.
