Today, we are joined by Waypoint Editor in Chief, mech enthusiast and friend of the show Austin Walker, for a whopping 2+ hour idle weekend extravaganza. We talk deconstruction in games, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and The Wire, amongst other things. Stay tuned for a *VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT* at the end of the show!
With its clever narrative framing device, a collection of fantastic acting performances, and a deeply expressive combat model, Hanger 13's Mafia 3 wound up being one of the biggest surprises of 2016. Today, Waypoint Editor-in-Chief Austin Walker and Social Editor Danika Harrod join me in a discussion of games that just barely slipped our top ten lists this year, along with Danika's top picks of 2016. With gaming’s fall season in full swing, the Waypoint crew has more than enough to play (and talk about). And though Waypoint’s tastes usually skew towards smaller, more personal games, we’re pleasantly surprised by how interesting some of gaming’s biggest releases are. In addition to myself, Waypoint Editor-in-Chief Austin Walker and managing editor Danielle Riendeau huddled around the warm of a microphone to discuss Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Watch Dogs 2, a tiny bit of Dishonored 2, and the politically-aware platformer Even the Ocean.
