(ORIGINAL AIRDATE: January 29, 2021) He's just a kid who's 4, it's Caillou! Will and Lucas uncover the history of the bald kid that everyone hates and determine whether or not his stint on PBS Kids was as bad as everyone says it is. The guys sift through their own complicated feelings on Caillou while exploring the surprisingly deep history of the character's development, its connections to Arthur, Teletoon, and Spawn(?), and the potentially dubious source of the Caillou backlash.
Send us a textAre you struggling to find bass during the transition from late winter to early spring? In this episode of the Serious Angler Podcast, we are joined by Bassmaster Elite Series Pro Shane LeHew to break down his absolute favorite pre-spawn pattern: fishing deep ditches. Before bass move up shallow to spawn, they stack up in specific "drains" and ditches that act as highways to the spawning grounds. If you can locate these hidden depressions, you can find the biggest school of fish in the lake. Shane LeHew is a master at using electronics to locate these subtle contour changes, and today he explains exactly how to dissect them.

Lured Up Podcast 377 Live Streamed on - 1/6/26 Publish Date - 1/9/26 We are back from our holiday break and ready to get back on the grind! We hope everyone had a great end to 2025 and a positive outlook on 2026. From everyone at the Pokémon Professor Network, we hope you have the Happiest of New Years. Trainers woke up this week to a major spawn point shuffle, with reports of house spawns updating from 10 to as few as 2. Keep in mind you will hear more about the bad stuff than the good, but there have also been reports of spawns increasing in other areas. Our best hunch is this could either have been influenced by an update to the game's feed from Open Street Map or it is Niantic slash Scopely trying to influence where we play the game. We will have to pay attention to the community to find out if increases are to be found in parks and rural areas.Unfortunately, Niantic Support has been spreading some seemingly incorrect reasoning for the updates, which will only add to confusion and upset Trainers. This week brings a new Dex entry with Klauf and a new Shiny with Dhelmise during the Pinch Perfect event. Field Research should keep you busy looking for the Win a Raid task which could bring you either of the two of the event's featured Pokémon. This weekend is going to be great with Kyurem Fusion Raid Day. Thanks to GO Hub, we will run through the best counters for each of the four Raids from the event, with four separate Battle Parties, as well as a single party you can use for all of the Raids during the event. The January GO Pass is here with the major reward being a Lucky Trinket. End Game Trainers may think it has a little less value, as the post 70 Lucky Friend grind is bringing Trainers multiple Lucky Friends a week. The total rewards as a whole still give the GO Pass great value, with the free version still providing some fun and consistent and daily gameplay. We wrap up with a chat about some of our plans for the new year, including some IRL short form video and some travel for events. We can't wait to roll things out soon! Chaz and AJ opened the show by talking about the abrupt retirement of the New Haven's Police Chief, immediately following the news that he admitted to theft from a state fund for confidential informants. (0:00) Bad Idea Island was inspired by a rant Chaz had yesterday about the Ryan Seacrest New Year's Eve broadcast. Today, Ruth walked us through the glorious bomb that was the Jamie Kennedy "First Night" in 2012. (11:59) It all started in Dumb Ass News, Chaz and AJ played some audio of Alabama Barker's ridiculous "Christmas haul" post on TikTok. That was followed by her rant at the commenters for calling her out. (19:40)

KATIE CROSS - BIOGRAPHY Katie Cross is ALL ABOUT writing epic magic and wild places. Creating new fantasy worlds is her jam. When she's not hiking or chasing her two littles through the Montana mountains, you can find her curled up reading a book or arguing with her husband over the best kind of sushi. Visit her at www.KatieCrossBooks.com for free short stories, extra savings on all her books (and some you can't buy on the retailers), and so much more. Mark McWaters has long been a fan of all things that go bump in the night, scratch at the door, or blow cold air on the back of your neck. From a very young age, he carried a pad and pencil around with him, composing poems to give to girls. He devoured all the Hardy Boys and Doc Savage books he could get his hands on and expanded his reading horizons from there. Robert Heinlein, Asimov, and Bradbury, whetted his appetite for Sci-Fi. Ann Rice's Interview With The Vampire blew his mind. A scene from Stephen King's Salem's Lot haunts him to this day. And Watcher by Dean Koontz made him a lifelong fan. He earned an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Became an award-winning advertising copywriter and creative director and earned enough Clios, Addys, and Communication Arts awards for bragging rights. As a writer, Mark discovered the Florida Writers Association, critique groups and writing competitions. He's won a steady stream of FWA Royal Palm Literary awards for his unpublished short stories and novels. The inspiration behind “Ghost Dog” came while reading entry rules for a magazine looking for unusual spins on traditional horror. Houses, people, dolls, even cars get haunted. So, he thought, why not dogs? Bentley, a West Highland White Terrier who sleeps under Mark's desk while he writes, agreed. The Contest, one of the most prestigious writing and illustrating competitions in the world, is currently in its 43rd year and is judged by some of the premier names in speculative fiction. SYRACUSE ARTIST WINS INTERNATIONAL ILLUSTRATION CONTEST Upcoming Hollywood Awards Event HOLLYWOOD, CA - Syracuse, Utah artist Tray Streeter is a winner in the L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future Contest earning him a trip to Hollywood for a week-long master-class workshop, an awards event and his illustration will be published in the international bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 42. Tray Streeter grew up in Syracuse, Utah. Like many children, he spent much of his childhood drawing, though he was especially interested in still lifes. That fascination with technique deepened in his teenage years after he received a set of oil paints for Christmas, leading him to study the works of John Singer Sargent and Caravaggio. Portraiture became his passion, one that continues to influence his work today. It was not until adulthood, when he began working digitally, that he turned his attention to sci-fi and fantasy art. The genre offered him the freedom to create artworks that exist beyond reality. Influenced by artists like Frank Frazetta and Alex Ross, he aims to combine both the drama and technique of classical painting with the sleek, contemporary possibilities of digital art. Currently, Tray is attending Weber State University, pursuing a BFA in Art with a 2D emphasis. After graduation, he hopes to continue his studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Ultimately, he aspires to illustrate for Dungeons & Dragons, work on cover illustration for comics, and develop his own original concepts. The Writers of the Future Contest judges include Tim Powers (author of On Stranger Tides), Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert (Dune prequel series), Robert J. Sawyer (The Oppenheimer Alternative), Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn series, The Stormlight Archive), Larry Niven (Ringworld), Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game), Nnedi Okorafor (Who Fears Death), Hugh Howey (Wool), and Katherine Kurtz (Deryni series) to name a few. The Illustrators of the Future Contest judges include, Bob Eggleton (11 Chesley Awards and 9 Hugo Awards), Larry Elmore (Dungeons & Dragons book covers), Echo Chernik (graphic designs for major corporations including Celestial Seasonings tea packaging), Rob Prior (art for Spawn, Heavy Metal comics and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ciruelo (Eragon Coloring Book). Following the 1982 release of his internationally acclaimed bestselling science fiction novel, Battlefield Earth, written in celebration of 50 years as a professional writer, L. Ron Hubbard created the Writers of the Future (writersofthefuture.com) in 1983 to provide a means for aspiring writers of speculative fiction to get that much-needed break. Due to the success of the Writers of the Future Contest, the companion Illustrators of the Future Contest was inaugurated five years later. In the 42 years of the Writers of the Future Contest, there have been 571 winners and published finalists. The past winners of the Writing Contest have published 2,000 novels and nearly 6,300 short stories. They have produced 36 New York Times bestsellers, and their works have sold over 60 million copies. In the 37 years of the Illustrators of the Future Contest, there have been 418 winners. The past winners of the Illustrating Contest have produced over 6,800 illustrations, 390 comic books, graced 700 books and albums with their art, and visually contributed to 68 television shows and 40 major movies. The Writers of the Future Award is the genre's most prestigious award of its kind and has now become the largest, most successful, and demonstrably most influential vehicle for budding creative talent in the world of speculative fiction. Since its inception, the Writers and Illustrators of the Future contests have produced 41 anthology volumes

There is some great, weird and just plain crazy news to talk through today. Have Hot Toys jumped the shark? Is Ben about to drop $1500 on a Soundwave? More Mondo, more Blokees and of course, More Todd. Franks TMNT collection lacks a life size element - could this change soon? Then we compare the newly released Origins Fright Zone with the vintage one - which in itself gives Scot the fright of his life! On today's episode, I talk to comics writer Brian Michael Bendis. Originally from Cleveland, OH, Brian knew from an early age he wanted to make comics. His late teens and twenties were spent making his own comics, some of them published by Caliber Press, and in 1996, a lot of this work was collected together at Image. This led to working on the Spawn spin-off Sam and Twitch, and in 1998, he began releasing Powers, which would go on to garner both critical and commercial success, as well as Harvey and Eisner Awards. In 2000, Brian co-created Miles Morales when he began writing Ultimate Spider-Man. The next year, Brian began a defining run on Daredevil and co-created Jessica Jones with the start of Alias. And this is essentially just the first decade of his career! Since then, he went on to write defining runs on comics like Avengers and New Avengers, events like House of M, books like Superman and Action Comics for DC, and most recently, for the 25th anniversary of Powers, Brian and artist Michael Avon Oeming are creating a new 12-issue series at Dark Horse, and it's great! Happy Thanksgiving! It's Turkey Day, dammit, and you're listening to Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies, The Wild Turkey of Horror Movie Podcasts! Here in Episode 172, your hosts Jay of the Dead and Mister Watson endeavor to elicit an environment of the last Thursday in November in America! That's right! Upon listening to this decadent yet delectable detritus, drizzled with down-home, delightful domestication, you will be whisked away (not folded nor mixed), but whisked away into an audio podcast that blends 2025 New Horror Movie reviews, some faint comedy, and a dinner party vibe with A New Horror Movies Thanksgiving — With Jay of the Dead and Mister Watson. Now then, if you choose to join us for this audiophile's feast, then you will hear reviews of the following, 2025 New Horror Movies. And please note: We are most careful NOT to reveal any spoilers; so even if you have not seen these films yet, you are in good, safe hands with Mister Watson and Jay of the Dead! The films we review during this episode are A Desert (2025), HIM (2025), Marshmallow (2025), The Strangers: Chapter 2 (2025), Vicious (2025), Bone Lake (2025), MONSTER ISLAND (2025), Good Boy (2025), The Ugly Stepsister (2025), The Long Walk (2025), and for The Final Cut segment, we bring you a must-see Horror flick from last year, Pater Noster and the Mission of Light (2024). And in addition to these reviews, you will hear Jay of the Dead explain exactly what he means when referring to a film as a "cinematic oddity," making a distinction between intentionally bizarre films versus movies that just wind up being bonkers and "out there." Mister Watson and Jay have an in-depth discussion about the appropriate approach for dealing with others who break social norms. And over dinner, Watson regales us with a tale from 2015 when Jay of the Dead used his podcaster's siren song to lead Dustin astray with a mermaid on date night! Also, Jay tries to persuade Watson to stop feeding his "good, little, chonky boys" (raccoons) before one of them eats his face off. And in a rare and special treat, Mister Watson tells us the remarkable true story of Hachiko the dog. Plus, we have some very special segments pertaining to Thanksgiving-related trivia, Thanksgiving Cooking With Cousin Kellie and Jay's Necro-MOM-icon in West Virginia, and the next chapters in the Dave Becker baler saga! Come get a taste! We think you'll like it! And if you like hearing Jay and Watson mix it up together, be sure you check out our sister Horror show — Another Badass Horror Podcast — titled, Horror Movie Weekly. The spawning process is arguably the most important event of a trout's life. The best trout in the system spawn every year. And as long term anglers, we should understand the process -- not only because we then know how to give trout their space, but because the process is a fascinating look at a fish that we spend so much time chasing. We do not advocate fishing for actively spawning trout. But in many watersheds, it's easy to stay away from the redds and give trout plenty of room by simply understanding the process. That's the focus of our conversation in this episode: where, when and how do trout spawn in a river? This podcast is a follow up to another that we published a few years ago, with Episode 2 of Season 9 -- Trout Fishing and the Spawn. My friends, Austin Dando, Bill Dell and Matt Grobe join me for a great conversation.ResourcesREAD: Troutbitten | Redd Fish - Should we fish for trout through the spawn or stay home?PODCAST: Troutbitten | Trout Fishing and the Spawn.
