Two shooter betas dropped on the same weekend, so we played both and came back with very different verdicts. WARDOGS is Bulkhead's 100-player, three-team tactical shooter with a real money economy — you buy your loadout every respawn, you lose money when you die, and it turns out that changes how a match actually feels. Modern Warfare 4 finally dumps omnimovement, removes bloom from hipfire, and put a campaign mission in the beta for the first time ever. We get into the WARDOGS recon grind and the 5.56 break-action "sniper" that shouldn't exist, the money system and whether it creates real gear fear, three-team fights and whether they actually matter, spawn vehicles as an infinite money glitch, base building and anti-air, and why there is never — not once, not ever — an unoccupied tower. On the CoD side: how the movement feels without omnimovement, no-bloom hipfire on keyboard and mouse, opening-night demon lobbies, whether Warzone and DMZ2 have a chance, and the annual spawns discourse that needs to die. Jake played both. Raz refused to pre-order. Somehow they still ended up disagreeing. 0:00 - Intro 2:26 - How to even get into these betas 2:50 - "I'm not pre-ordering this pile of shit game" 3:23 - Patreon, the FPS lore bonus episode, and the patron hangout 6:09 - Gut check: which beta did we keep loading back into? 6:39 - Jake played the MW4 campaign mission first thing in the morning 8:10 - Opening night of the CoD beta was as sweaty as it gets 11:09 - The WARDOGS recon grind is making the game worse 12:22 - The 5.56 break-action "sniper" that should not exist 13:31 - Two gripes: no free look, and you can't reload while sprinting 15:10 - Recon 10, the Mosin, and a $50,000 unlock 16:41 - There's loot on top of the towers — finding an SV-98 17:44 - What surprised us 18:43 - MW4 movement with no omnimovement 21:48 - So what's actually new in MW4? GregaMortis continues his journey through the Showa-era Godzilla films with Godzilla Raids Again (1955) for his Monsters on the Mantle segment. And Gillman Joel and Dr. Shock wade back into the Horror Lagoon for the low-budget, techno-Horror flick Horrorvision (2001). Dr. Walking Dead leads our latest John Kenneth Muir group review with the fascinating cinematic oddity, Equinox (1970). And finally, Jay and Spawn of the Dead close things out with The Final Cut: One for the Road, reviewing Welcome to the Jungle (2007) during Spawn's first remote podcast recording from wild and wonderful West Virginia! We don't want to know your favorite Ninja Turtle. We want to know which Ninja Turtle is you. Which Ninja Turtle best represents your personality and behavior? Not everyone is comfortable answering the question, but Matthew Rosenberg gives it a go in our recent conversation at San Diego Comic-Con International, after a little nudge/encouragement. Matt Rosenberg will take over writing duties on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #25, after Gene Luen Yang and Fero Pe wrap up their current “City That Never Dies” storyline. Rosenberg is on a hot streak, writing both Spawn and King Spawn, as well as If Destruction Be Our Lot. Not to forget the eagerly anticipated cinematic adaptation of 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank hitting screens next year. He's the third writer to tackle the monthly Ninja Turtle series in three years, and he promises to bring a unique perspective to our favorite mutant brothers. First, his Turtles are going to war, and it's going to take them down nearly every New York City street. Streets Rosenberg knows exceptionally well as someone raised on them. Secondly, Rosenberg is a diehard Turtle fanatic, and he's been plotting possibilities for these characters since he was twelve or so. This week's podcast is our final 2026 San Diego Comic-Con episode. As we've done over the last few weeks, we've invited another podcaster onto the show to help us broaden our con coverage perspective. Today, we have Chris Hacker, co-host of The Oblivion Bar. Hacker found his way to Comic-Con only through the power of the comic book community, and we needed to take a moment to celebrate. Comic book people can get a bad rap, especially online, but Hacker's story shows the beauty that fellowship makes possible. Make sure you're following Matthew Rosenberg on his Substack, Podcast, Bluesky, and Instagram.. And follow The Oblivion Bar on Instagram and Bluesky. Vampire Snow White and Werewolf Belle must fight the evil queen, while exes-to-lovers, Sleeping Beauty and Alice, try to escape a Nightmare version of Wonderland. Kat and Phil at Lifeline Comics have been building a Kickstarter empire with their Mature Fairy Tale Universe for years…did we also mention they are queer? Well, now they are all colliding in a special Big 2-style event. Nothing will be the same. Head to Kickstarter for Fairy Tale Wars #1, which sees the popular series The Beast and Snow, Nightmare in Wonderland, and The Witches of Oz crossover for a first-of-its-kind comics event. Imagine a post-apocalyptic world where Heaven and Hell are at war, a nerd wakes up trapped in the body of a supernatural slasher, and his only allies include a roller derby angel, a possessed truck...and immortal murder chickens. Critics are already calling it wildly creative, wonderfully weird, and an absolute blast. Back the Kickstarter for an oversized deluxe hardcover, exclusive editions, art prints, and even the Murder Chickens Card Game, available only during the campaign. If you love horror, dark comedy, and comics that break every rule, head to Kickstarter and search I Love Apocalyptic Zombie Misfits! before the campaign disappears! With a cover by Liam Sharp and stories from a galaxy of reality-warping creators, this is all-out sci-fi with an anarchic edge. And the best news is? Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies presents the 63rd edition of Dead Man Still Walking, your favorite Zombie Movie Podcast hosted by Dr. Walking Dead Kyle William Bishop! This time, the good doctor returns to an older corner of zombie cinema with Umberto Lenzi's strange and unconventional Italian horror film "Nightmare City" (1980), a movie whose director apparently insisted was not a zombie movie, despite Dr. Bishop arriving at a very different diagnosis. And of course, as for me and my house, we will be believing Dr. Bishop's assessment. The infected creatures of "Nightmare City" are unlike your average shambling undead: They use knives, clubs, guns and even a harpoon gun; they appear capable of planning and communicating nonverbally; and instead of merely eating flesh, they sometimes stop to drink their victims' blood. That leaves Dr. Walking Dead pondering an especially unusual case of cinematic zombiism: Are these monsters zombies, infected humans, vampires or some bizarre hybrid of all three? Kyle examines the monsters' apparent resistance to gunfire, vulnerability to brain trauma and ambiguous method of spreading their condition while arguing that, regardless of Lenzi's objections, "Nightmare City" belongs in the zombie movie conversation. Dr. Bishop also places the film firmly within the post-Romero zombie boom, noting its conspicuous similarities to "Night of the Living Dead," "Dawn of the Dead" and the Italian zombie films that followed in Romero's wake. Kyle discusses the Dawn-like music, helicopter imagery, siege elements, Molotov cocktails and the movie's heavy-handed warning about nuclear power and radiation. Along the way, Dr. Walking Dead praises the score, questions the inconsistent gore effects, calls out some dated and misogynistic character behavior and identifies "Nightmare City" as the sort of cinematic oddity that may be worth seeing precisely because it is so strange. And then there is that ending. In a spoiler section, Dr. Walking Dead tackles the film's infamous last-minute narrative reset, recycled opening footage and "the nightmare becomes reality" conclusion — a twist that inspires considerably more frustration than admiration. Even so, the unusual zombie-vampire creatures and the movie's place within the history of Italian zombie cinema earn it a Low-Priority Rental recommendation rather than an outright Avoid. Dr. Walking Dead also presents a popular segment called The Dead Zone on regular episodes of this podcast. For his Dead Man Still Walking solocast episodes, Dr. Bishop will focus exclusively on zombie films, with the occasional exploration of zombie-related themes, zombie television, and other zombie media (e.g., comics, literature, etc.).

Imagine Battlefield, but dying matters. That's the WARDOGS closed alpha in one sentence — and after a weekend in it, we're calling it the most polished alpha we've ever played. WARDOGS is Bulkhead and Team17's 100-player tactical shooter: three factions, one randomized control zone, first side to 100 points wins. You start with $10,000, you buy your loadout from in-game vendors, and when you die you lose the gear AND the money you spent on it. The money carries between matches. You can loot the guy you just killed and walk away with a level 30 kit you couldn't buy for another six hours. In this episode: what the alpha actually plays like, why the economy isn't the gimmick people think it is, how three-way faction warfare changes your strategy, the 256 square kilometre map, destructible towers, the reviving system Battlefield should steal, TTK and gunplay, why an Arma 3 King of the Hill mod is the reason none of this feels half-baked — and the two things that genuinely pissed us off. Plus the final verdict, the scores, and the one thing that could still ruin this game. Raz thinks it's a flawless alpha. Jake wants free look. Finally got a second character to level 90. Pandaren Heritage Armor questing completed, with a brief review here. Good story and story presentation.   SQ Development Bench – 34:05 An idea for Blizzard: characters who have something new or updated in their text dialogue box should get a visual indicator such as a yellow outline across all questing, like they did for the end of the Pandaren HA questing.   Main Topic – Part 2 with Jason Lucas – 36:30           The rest are topics and questions posed in the second half of the conversation.   10 Years Hosting TSZ – 38:11 The most consistent weekly Warcraft podcast out there, through the ups and downs.   A Solo Player Asks About Raiding – 54:25 I share my observations about raiding from a non-participant perspective and ask some whys and why nots.   Value of the Race to World First – 55:31 What is the value of the RtWF to the game?  Who benefits?   Raid Difficulty Levels and Nerfing – 1:09:49 Why is there so much nerfing over the course of a season?   Social Responsibilities of a Raid Leader – 1:21:23 Leading a productive group requires some firm decisions and conversations (also known as why I don't do group content).   Variance in Encounter Design? This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; even though we are Celebrating our 10th Year of Podcasting; we unfortunately exhausted all our energy on the Previous SDCC Reveals & Announcements Ep. So we are giving you a ReIssue episode instead from the Vault. (Originally Posted as Ep #143 - from October 2019). Original blurb: It’s a very special ep as we’re joined by not one, but two of favourite guests in Davey Damaged and Scotty so that’s right – it’s a Homer episode! Trent takes us through a vintage retrospective look at The Addams family by Playmates. Perfectly timed for Halloween, we wonder what could have been with this short-lived line and look to the future of the franchise as a new movie approaches. What characters didn’t get made, which ones make the camera glow and where does MC Hammer fit into it all? We make the jump to Show and Tell as Davey tries to trump us all with a purchase so large, we doubt it will actually fit in his toy room! There’s some DC, MOTU and even Final Fantasy options to choose from. Frank gives a lovely tribute showing that sometimes, the value of a toy; lays in more than its sticker price. Then it’s Quiz time and with Davey onboard, anything is possible. To say this episode goes off the rails is putting it mildly – but on the plus side we learnt that Trent can’t hold his liquor, Ben thinks photos record sound, Space Jam was an event and Rick Moranis is Trent’s muse. So hold on for this crazy ride that also serves as a farewell for one of the team…Support the show: http://patreon.com/toypowerpodcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to the highly anticipated Episode 184 of Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies, in which everyone's "favorite Horror Avenger" (and perhaps the most controversial one), Ron Martin — The Cassandra of Horror Podcasting — continues his milestone movie challenge worthy of his formidable Horror reputation. In celebration of turning 50 back on February 26, 2026, Ron has undertaken an ambitious cinematic mission: to watch 50 Horror movies he has never seen before during his 50th year! Rest assured, this is not merely a collection of familiar favorites, nostalgic rewatches, or comfortable genre standbys… Every selection must be a Horror film that Ron has never previously seen. No repeats. No fallback choices. Instead, Ron is tackling his own personal list of long-overdue "Must-See Horror Movies," neglected essentials, celebrated classics, and a handful of surprising blind spots that even he admits are slightly embarrassing. And in addition, he is randomly selecting films that he's just in the mood to watch at that time. But again, always and above all … films he has not yet seen! Ron Martin's 50 for 50 Horror Special spans five total episodes, with 10 mini reviews featured in each volume. Throughout the series, Ron offers concise, insightful, and frequently fiery reactions to each movie, complete with ratings and recommendations, as he attempts to "fill in the holes" of his extensive Horror-viewing résumé. The films may come from physical media, streaming services, or theatrical releases. The only firm requirement is that Ron must be experiencing each title for the very first time! For a lifelong Horror authority, it is a daring, revealing, and endlessly intriguing undertaking. So, join us for Volume 2 of 5 as Ron continues his 50 for 50 Horror journey — facing down supposed classics, testing long-held expectations, addressing glaring omissions, and carrying on his relentless pursuit of Horror truth versus Horror myth! **Be sure to listen to Ron Martin's previous Horror solocast series here: The Great Halloween Experiment – Parts 1 – 4 And check out Ron's other podcast: Retro Sleepover Be sure to subscribe to Jay of the Dead's new Horror movie podcast on: Apple PodcastsSpotifyDeezer   You are welcome to email our show at HauntingYourHeadphones@gmail.com. Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies presents the 62nd edition of Dead Man Still Walking, the Zombie Movie Podcast hosted by Dr. Walking Dead himself, Dr. Kyle Bishop! This episode offers a cinematic zombie twofer, beginning with Christopher Landon's irreverent teen comedy, "Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse" (2015), followed by the main event: Destry Allyn Spielberg's dystopian Gothic thriller, "Please Don't Feed the Children" (2025). First, Dr. Bishop briefly ventures into the realm of gross-out humor, zombie strippers and scouting skills put to apocalyptic use. Although the film offers a surprisingly earnest message about friendship, loyalty, and resisting peer pressure, Kyle finds its juvenile sex jokes, scatological comedy and deliberately ridiculous zombies considerably less rewarding. There is, however, some praise for David Koechner's performance. Then, Dr. Walking Dead turns his attention to "Please Don't Feed the Children," a slow-burning post-apocalyptic thriller in which young people are immune to a mysterious viral outbreak but are persecuted as suspected carriers. A group of fugitive teenagers takes refuge in an isolated farmhouse owned by the seemingly compassionate Clara, played by Michelle Dockery. Naturally, the safety of the house proves deceptive, and the movie's cleverly misleading title takes on a much darker meaning. Dr. Kyle Bishop examines the film as a COVID-inspired narrative about disease, social paranoia, generational conflict and the dangerous rumors that accompany public-health crises. He also considers its Gothic atmosphere, solitary zombie, exploration of motherhood and obsessive love, as well as its depiction of the "monstrous mother." And what exactly is "Biddy Horror"—and how does it differ from Hagsploitation? Join the good doctor for a smart, spoiler-filled discussion of zombies, secrets, family, life, death and the unfortunate consequences of keeping an infected loved one locked in the basement. Note: This episode contains major plot spoilers for both films, particularly "Please Don't Feed the Children." Dead Man Still Walking is a biweekly, short-form solocast hosted by Dr. Walking Dead Kyle Bishop, author of American Zombie Gothic and How Zombies Conquered Popular Culture. Dr. Bishop is an academic and professional scholar of zombie films and other zombie narratives. He has been teaching for 26 years. Dr. Bishop serves as an English professor, Film Studies professor, and he's currently the English Department Chair at Southern Utah University. Read transcriptBy 2005, Konami had made three TMNT beat-em-ups based on the 2003 animated series, which is the kind of commitment usually reserved for tax filings or long-term relationships. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Mutant Nightmare landed that November on GameCube, PS2, Xbox, and Nintendo DS as the trilogy's closer, and Konami sent it off in style by giving it the series' first E10+ rating, as if four years of shell-based violence had finally crossed some invisible threshold of Too Much. The game loosely adapts the show's third season across four “Episodes,” which means the Triceratons invade Earth, Agent Bishop kidnaps Splinter for reasons that presumably made sense to somebody in a government facility somewhere, and Shredder shows back up to remind everyone that retirement isn't really a thing that happens to ninja warlords. Along the way you can pour experience points into skill scrolls, transform into a Dino Turtle or an Ultimate Turtle depending on the mood, and, if you clear the first Episode, unlock a modified version of the 1991 arcade classic Turtles in Time, which is Konami's way of saying “here's the good one, in case this one doesn't land.” Joining me to sort the Triceratons from the Foot Ninjas is Pierce Lydon of Spawnography, the podcast where he and George Marston work through Todd McFarlane's entire Spawn mythology one hellish arc at a time. Pierce has already survived one trip through the Play Comics gauntlet with me on Spawn in the Demon's Hand, so they know exactly what they signed up for this time: showing up, being extremely knowledgeable, and getting talked into yet another licensed beat-em-up nobody asked for. So grab a ninja scroll, pick a turtle, any turtle, and let's find out whether Mutant Nightmare sent Konami's turtle trilogy out on a high note, or whether the Triceratons should've just stayed home. Learn such things as: When is it appropriate to make a game without the most iconic villains? How much can you cram into a game when you know it's your last one? What magical things can you find at your public library? And so much more! You can find Spawnography on BlueSky, and Instagram, and of course those Apple Podcast, YouTube, and Spotify places. Todd McFarlane returns to The Comic Source for a wide-ranging conversation about the past, present and future of Spawn. Todd explains how drawings he created as a teenager in 1977 inspired the upcoming Spawn '77 project with Mark Spears, why the new story must carefully work around established Hellspawn mythology and what impressed him about Spears' atmospheric interpretation of the concept. He also details his unusual collaboration with J. Scott Campbell, in which both artists created distinct finished versions of the same original sketches, and discusses the hidden differences fans can discover between their covers. The conversation also explores McFarlane's limited-edition enamel pin program, his commitment to honoring announced production numbers and the importance of maintaining trust with collectors. Todd even shares a cinematic moment he wrote for the Spawn movie and imagines Jamie Foxx's Al Simmons delivering the line, "I wasn't hiding. I was waiting." The episode closes with McFarlane reflecting on creative freedom, longevity and why surviving long enough to continue making comics may be the greatest victory of all.   Links: The Comic Source: https://linktr.ee/thecomicsource Todd McFarlane Productions: https://mcfarlane.com McFarlane Toys Store: https://mcfarlanetoysstore.com J. Welcome back to Wise_N_Nerdy, where fatherhood and fandom collide for another unforgettable adventure filled with laughs, nostalgia, parenting wisdom, and plenty of geeky discussion! This week's Question of the Week asks a surprisingly thought-provoking question: "Which villain would actually make a great parent?" Charles and Joe explore iconic antagonists who may not be as evil as they seem when it comes to family. From The Vulture and Magneto to Spawn and Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the hosts debate which villains possess the loyalty, sacrifice, and protective instincts that could actually make them outstanding parents. The Roll of the Dice sends everyone first to Parliament of Papas, where the hosts tackle a parenting dilemma involving a father who promised his son a reward worth up to $200 for finishing the school year strong—but now the child has his sights set on the highly sought-after Nintendo Switch 2. Charles and Joe discuss keeping promises, managing expectations, and balancing generosity with practical parenting. Next comes everyone's favorite palate cleanser: Bad Dad Jokes! Bob, Nolan, and Devo unleash a barrage of puns and groan-worthy punchlines guaranteed to make you laugh, cringe, and question why you keep coming back for more. The dice then land on What Are You Nerding Out About? Charles shares his excitement as preparations ramp up for Dragon Con, including his role as one of the convention's official spokespeople and interviewer. Joe, meanwhile, has fallen headfirst into The Primal Hunter series by Zogarth, praising the addictive LitRPG adventure and its immersive audiobook experience. From there, it's time for Daddy, Tell Me A Story, where the hosts reminisce about some of their favorite childhood gaming memories. Charles recalls countless hours spent exploring the groundbreaking world of Half-Life, while Joe fondly remembers battling through the notoriously challenging Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on the NES. It's a nostalgic celebration of the games that helped shape two lifelong nerds. The episode concludes with How Do I...?, where Charles and Joe discuss one of the most valuable skills in today's information-rich world: How do you choose creators worth learning from? Rather than chasing popularity alone, the hosts explain how they evaluate creators based on expertise, consistency, humility, and demonstrated results, offering concrete examples of the voices they trust and why. Whether you're debating comic book villains, laughing through terrible dad jokes, reliving classic video games, preparing for Dragon Con, or searching for creators who genuinely add value to your life, this episode has something for every fan.
