Well, it was an interesting week for gaming with Nintendo unveiling their latest Indie World and the prize of that showcase was assuredly Mina the Hollower, and the best part was that a demo was availabe immediately, so Sean gave the game a whirl and he's defintely excited for October 31 to get here quickly. Also, Sony has fantastic PS5 sales, essentially putting them right in line with PS4 numbers, while their CFO makes some interesting statements regarding live service games and a "movement away from hardware and towards creation" that got hardcore gamers all kinds of nervous. Plus, Embracer brings back RedOctane. Are Guitar Rhythm games about to make a comeback? Microsoft cancels yet another game with Contraband getting the axe, and more! If Sony's recent fiscal report shows anything, it's that PlayStation is turning into a bona fide money printer. Yes, PS5 has surpassed 80 million units sold, and that in and of itself is a substantial figure. But the more interesting numbers reside in the financials, where the brand netted more in profit in a single three month period than it did for much of entire previous generations. That's completely insane. So let's discuss PlayStation's meteoric growth, what it means, and how Sony may be doing all of this with one arm tied behind its back. In today's Daily Fix:The Battlefield 6 open beta isn't even live yet, and there's already 30,000+ players waiting in the queue. The beta goes live for this weekend and next, but early access to those with codes begins tomorrow. And early access or not, expect some long wait times if you're trying to get in. In Nintendo news, the creator of Pokémon and the former CEO of The Pokémon Company confirmed that Nintendo of America had some notes on Pikachu's original design. Before the game made its way to the U.S., Nintendo of America reportedly wanted to add "large breasts" to everyone's favorite electric mouse, and also wanted to toughen up some of the other pokémon, to make them less cute. Thankfully, those notes were ignored. And finally, Genshin Impact is being delisted on PS4 next month, and will be shutdown for that console next year. Don't worry, PS5 players will not be affected.
