The battle for Warner Bros. Discovery is seeing a new champion enter the ring, with Netflix making some moves to put their own bid in for the studio's properties. According to Reuters, the streaming pioneer engaged with investment bank Moelis & Co. in order to prepare an offer. Ironically, this is the same bank that worked with David Ellison at Skydance to take over Paramount whose first bid to buy Warner Bros. Discovery was rejected. It was the worst weekend at the box office this year, with ticket sales coming in at just $52.4 million. This also makes it the lowest-grossing Halloween weekend in 31 years, excluding theater closures due to COVID in 2020. While new film Regretting You took in a respectable $50 million, Black Phone 2 really has the crown from the weekend having now brought in $104 million globally - another huge win for horror this year. Yorgos Lanthimos' new film Bugonia, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, is sitting at a small $11.1 million globally after breaking into more theaters. Both Scream 7 and Stranger Things Season 5 released trailers recently. Stranger Things' official trailer showed us a bit more of what to expect from that property and Scream 7, which releases on February 27, 2026, gave us a glance at the returning original cast members of Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, and David Arquette. As we discussed last week, Stranger Things will release in three parts on holiday weekends, four episodes on November 26, three episodes on Christmas Day, and the finale on New Year's Eve.A 'Conjuring' prequel film is in development at Warner Bros. and New Line, with short film director Rodrigue Huart in talks to direct. Franchise veterans Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, who co-wrote the two prior “Conjuring” films, 2023's “The Nun II” and this September's “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” are on board to pen the screenplay. After landing the rights to turn one of the world's biggest video games into an epic movie, Paramount has now landed two A-list filmmakers to develop it. Sources tell Deadline that Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg have joined Paramount and Activision to develop and produce a Call of Duty movie, with Paramount distributing a live-action feature film.Hulu has ordered two more seasons of the revived King of the Hill animated series, the 16th and 17th overall and third and fourth seasons as a streaming original. Season 14 premiered in August and is the first half of Hulu's initial two-season, 20-episode order; season 15 is set to debut in 2026.Sam Mendes' four Beatles films have filled out the cast by adding the spouses of the four band members. Saoirse Ronan will play Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai will play Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood will play Pattie Boyd, and Mia McKenna-Bruce will play Maureen Starkey.Ariana Grande has joined the cast of season 13 of American Horror Story, which is currently on track to debut around Halloween 2026.Toho has officially revealed the title of its next “Godzilla” feature that will serve as a sequel to Godzilla: Minus One as “Godzilla -0.0” (Godzilla Minus Zero). The film will once again be written, directed and produced by the same team behind 2023's “Godzilla Minus One.” Currently, there are no plot details, but the studio is currently targeting a release date in late 2026.Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are going back to the desert for The Mummy 4. The film will be directed by the duo known as Radio Silence, composed of Martin Bettinelli-Opin and Tyler Gillett, who directed 2019's Ready or Not.

Reports paint Andrew's days at Royal Lodge as late starts, war films, golf and Call of Duty on a wall-sized TV, with rare rides out and growing loneliness. Friends say Sarah Ferguson faces “nowhere to go, and no one to go with” if the Lodge era ends. A Scottish refuge offer at Carbisdale Castle has been withdrawn after threats; talk of “exile” to the Castle of Mey persists, though commentators say Frogmore or even Abu Dhabi is likelier. Then a tech hiccup: Andrew's defunct website briefly reappeared — in Vietnamese — before redirect issues were fixed. Opinion writers argue his position is untenable and that the Firm's survival relies on decisive action.Check out "Palace Intrigue Presents: King WIlliam" here.

Curious to see if Black Ops 7 is going to be good.
Welcome to episode #245 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we have lots to cover regarding the launch of Battlefield 6, and its immediate success with over 7 million copies sold within the first couple days. Black Ops 7 is nearing its release, and the debate still swirling over which FPS will come out on top, we give our thoughts on what is going to be the deciding factor for BO7 to be a success this year and beyond. We also cover the thoughts on games being worth the $70 price tag. COD has gotten this criticism, as well as many other AAA games that come out. Are developers really putting in the effort in these games to make it worth that price, while some games are simply a copy of last years with little innovation? We share our opinions on what we have been reading, and talk about which developers always put in the time and effort for new games.Did you play Battlefield 6 at launch? If so, what did you think? Will you be playing both BF6 and BO7, or do you stick to just one FPS? What do you think about our talk regarding games not being worth the $70, and too many games to play with not enough time? Do you feel the same way as us? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Intro: Minutes 0 to 6:30 Chandra has been watching Dexter: Resurrection. She also watched The Materialists but doesn't recommend it. I saw One Battle After Another and enjoyed it. I loved The Long Walk. I have been watching a Canadian comedy called Corner Gas. Royals: Minutes 6:30 to Since we last recorded, the second season of With Love, Meghan came out and we've also had two drops of As Ever products. Harry did a four day tour of England in September, went to Ukraine and visited his dad. Meghan went to the Balenciaga show at Paris Fashion Week earlier this month. She looked serene, glowy and rich and her surprise appearance was a success. It came out that she's friends with Balenciaga's new creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. He told The Cut that he's been friends with Meghan for years and that she asked if she could attend the show. There was a dumb manufactured controversy over Meghan's visit to Paris after she posted a little Instagram story of her feet while she was in a limo in Paris. The Daily Mail called the video insensitive and claimed she was driving near the tunnel in Paris where Princess Diana died. Meghan's video was taken over a kilometer away from the Pont de Alma tunnel. Meghan attended the Fortune Summit in Washington, DC last week where she talked about the future of her businesses. She also went to a women's networking dinner held by Emma Grede over the weekend. There was some ridiculous criticism of this dinner. On Friday, October 10th, Harry and Meghan were honored for their charity work at for World Mental Health Day in New York. Princess Kate co-authored a little essay ahead of that on how smartphones are bad. Harry and Meghan founded the Parents Network over a year ago and were being honored for that. Last week, around October 15th, Kate and Will made a surprise visit to Northern Ireland. They've been on vacation this week. On Friday, October 17th, Prince Andrew announced in the afternoon our time that he was voluntarily no longer using his titles. He's largely stepped back from royal life in the past few years but we've seen him at family events and it's obvious he has Charles' support. Charles was clearly trying to send a message to Harry by inviting Andrew to royal events. It looks like there was a deal worked out between Charles and Andrew that Andrew gets to keep Royal Lodge and his daughters get to keep their titles. Chandra thinks Charles believes Andrew's lies. We admire Virginia Guiffre for telling the truth. Andrew's announcement came a few days after we saw a 2011 email he sent Jeffrey Epstein after the release of Andrew's infamous photo with then 17-year-old Virginia Guiffre. Andrew wrote to Epstein “we are in this together” and “we'll play some more soon.” An email between Fergie and Epstein was also leaked. Fergie and Andrew wrote those emails after they claimed to have cut ties with Epstein. Fergie borrowed over $2 million from Epstein. I play a segment from an interview with British journalist Emily Maitlis, who interviewed Andrew for his infamous Newsnight interview. Andrew and ex wife Sarah Ferguson will continue to live in Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate, at least as long as Charles is alive. William wants to kick him out and there may be a parliamentary inquiry into his living arrangements. PM Kier Starmer supports an inquiry. Andrew still gets royal perks like being able to use other royal estates. Royal Lodge is sprawling, with a 30 room mansion, chapel, six cottages, pool and tennis court. Andrew has not paid rent in 20 years. He's said to spend his time playing Call of Duty and watching golf. William is trying to take credit for Andrew renouncing his titles. William has been briefing about how much he can't stand Andrew, but he was seen looking chummy with him recently. Beatrice visited her parents at Royal Lodge on Monday. There's some talk about removing Eugenie and Beatrice's titles, but Prince William doesn't seem to want this and they are blameless. Eugenie lives in Portugal is already half out but Beatrice seems to want to be a working royal. King Charles and Camilla visited the Vatican and met with Pope Leo. Camilla was wearing a black mantilla headpiece. They prayed together and it's the first time a British monarch and pope have prayed together in 500 years. This upcoming meeting was incentive for Charles to make a deal with Andrew to give up his titles. Comments of the Week: Minutes 29:30 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Rapunzel on the post about Trump asking Camilla for the gossip on Meghan. My comment of the week is from square bologna on Kristen Bell's post about her husband saying he would never kill her.

Episode Description Investing $72,000 in yourself might sound crazy, but it was one of the best business decisions I've ever made. In this episode, I break down why I joined an exclusive mastermind of 225 highly successful entrepreneurs and how it's already paying dividends in ways I never imagined. This wasn't an impulsive purchase or ego play. This was about proximity, getting access to the right people in the right rooms who could collapse my timeline to success. Within just five days of joining, I've already received deal flow worth more than my investment, access to 32 SOPs from $100 million businesses, and mentorship that's shifting how I think about wealth building entirely. Most people focus on cost instead of value. They ask "How much does it cost?" before understanding what they're getting. Wealthy people think differently, they calculate ROI first. When you shift from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset focused on value and proximity, everything changes. Episode Timeline & Highlights [0:00] – The $72,000 investment that changed everything [0:48] – What proximity really means and why access beats content [1:27] – Cost vs. value: The guacamole analogy that explains wealth mindset [2:30] – How to collapse your timeline by 5-10 years [3:33] – Why most people ask the wrong questions about investments [5:15] – The CPA firm deal that already covered my investment [7:28] – Scarcity vs. abundance: The two roadblocks to wealth [9:41] – Why failure is part of the game (the Call of Duty analogy) [10:49] – From $0 to $1 million the hard way vs. $1 million to $5 million with access [15:04] – My mentor's reaction to my "$10 million goal" (and why I needed that challenge) [18:04] – Being "too tolerant" as a leader—and how it was holding me back [20:23] – Why you need to be the dumbest person in the room [22:05] – The cost of waiting: How hesitation hurts your family Key Takeayways Access Trumps Content: You're not buying information; you're buying proximity to people who've already achieved what you want. ROI Over Cost: Wealthy people ask "What's the return?" before "What's the price?" This mindset shift changes everything. Proximity Collapses Time: The right rooms can speed up your journey by years or even decades. Challenge Breeds Growth: You need people who will push your limits and challenge your comfort zone. Quotables "What I bought wasn't content. What I bought was access." "You're either going to pay with time or money, just realize that." "I've been the smartest person in the room for way too long, and it's time to level up." "The shortcut isn't buying another PDF or course. It's getting proximity to people playing the game at the level you want to rise to." Abbey Road Studios in London, England was the world's first purpose-built recording studio. Opened way back in 1931, this building and the people inside have been at the cutting edge of recording technology for over 90s years. Abbey Road Studios is most famous for being where The Beatles recorded almost all of their music, but it also drove innovation with stereo recording, multitracks, editing, and the shift from analog to digital recording. In addition to all of those amazing Beatles records – which we'll get to – some other stuff recorded at Abbey Road includes Dark Side of the Moon and albums from Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Oasis, the Hollies, Radiohead, and the Zombies. Music scores for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Marvel movies, and video game soundtracks for Halo, Call of Duty, and World of Warcraft. They even recorded some of Winston Churchill's famous speeches during World War II to help keep morale high. From classical roots to rock rebellion, Abbey Road's always been ahead of the game, rewriting rules along the way. So kick back, feel the beat, and join us as we explore the studio that turned sound into a revolution. Let's roll! Episode Playlist Check out our episode playlist here. Despite the ongoing hardware "crisis," plenty of next generation hardware news continues to leak out of Xbox. This time, we have Project Magnus courtesy of Moore's Law Is Dead! Set to release in 2027, this console will (as expected) feature some Windows elements and go head-to-head with the pre-built PC market. To help break all of this down, Jimmy Champane of Deck Ready is here. Beyond Project Magnus, we get into a newly released piece of Xbox hardware in the Xbox Ally. Is it worth your money and what does it tell us about the future of Xbox's unified Windows approach? A lot, it seems! Beyond that, we tackle a new-ish structure for the show, covering everything from Xbox to PlayStation and Nintendo. Much of our show is shaped by you, so we hope you enjoy the inclusion and look forward to reading your thoughts. Before Fortnite and Call of Duty ruled the scene, the US Army quietly shaped the early 2000s with a wildly popular, free shooter designed to excite young people about enlisting.Hidden Levels is a production of 99% Invisible and WBUR's Endless Thread. For decades, the U.S. Army has been on edge about recruitment, hitting its goals for a few years, only to miss them again. As part of their strategy to combat recruiting concerns, the Army has turned its focus online: to the world of gaming and competitive eSports. With nearly 80% of Americans between the ages of 13 and 28 playing video games weekly, the Army has identified this community as a vital demographic for potential recruits. The core goal of this outreach is to use gaming as an entry point, which is nothing new — the precedent was set decades ago. With the end of the draft in 1973, the U.S. Army found itself faced with new recruitment challenges. Campaigns like the “Be All You Can Be” ads of the 80s were popular and led to short-term bumps in recruitment, but they didn't last. The Army failed to meet its recruitment goals in 1998. It failed again in 1999. In response, a U.S. Army lieutenant colonel spearheaded the development of America's Army, a free-to-play first-person shooter launched in 2002. The game was designed to offer a "virtual test drive" of Army life. Before the players could enter the full combat portion of the game, they were required to complete certain training modules covering topics like physical fitness and weapons use. The game was designed to reflect the Army's values and structure. And despite the game's promise to represent the true Army experience, the relatively limited depiction of gore and gruesome violence raised concern from some critics. Other critics, including anti-war activists and the ACLU, condemned the project for "gamifying war" and serving as propaganda that targeted impressionable youth by design. America's Army became a significant cultural and recruiting success, accumulating over 1.5 million downloads in its first month and eventually earning the title of the "Most Downloaded War Video Game" from Guinness World Records with more than 42.5 million downloads. After a two-decade run, the U.S. Army officially shuttered America's Army. The way Americans played video games had changed since the game launched in the early 2000s, and the Army began to pivot its approach to gaming to leverage the success of existing games and opportunities posed by the increasingly popular competitive eSports scene. Today, the Army eSports team competes in commercial titles like Rocket League, Call of Duty, and Valorant, continuing its outreach. This modern presence remains contentious — critics continue to question the ethics of military outreach in spaces that include children.
