Wrapping up 2025 strong with some current and upcoming developments ranging from the Dreamcast all the way up to the PS4! We discuss the latest developments with the upcoming hard drive based Xbox 360 softmod, as well as give a ton of love to the Dreamcast with some impossible port builders and even modern software such as GIMP supporting the Dreamcast in the modern day. The original Xbox gets some love with the upcoming release of the Kratos board, plus the entire family of DS consoles get the gift of the DSpico. There's also a TON of PS4 news here! From the release of a BD-JB based jailbreak working up to 12.52, a tease of another BD-JB based entrypoint working up to 13.02, a whole different entrypoint in the form of the PlayStation Vue application, and even a port of the Netflix entrypoint! Oh yeah, and a CFW enabled PSP takes front and center stage at a WWE event.

Bundle up, my spookies—this week's This Week in Horror History digs into Christmas horror movies, winter ghost stories, and festive frights from December 15–21. We're hanging the stockings and turning off the lights as we revisit the classics that made the holidays just a little more terrifying. We kick things off with Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein (1974), a black-and-white horror-comedy love letter to the Universal Monsters era. It proved that audiences were happy to unwrap creepy laughs during the holiday season, turning a modest budget into a massive hit and cementing itself as a cozy winter comfort watch for monster kids everywhere. From there, we head into the snow-choked terror of Bob Clark's Black Christmas (1974)—the grim, stalker-in-the-attic slasher that helped invent the blueprint for holiday horror slashers. Killer POV shots, obscene phone calls, sorority sisters in danger, and a cozy Christmas setting turned sinister make it a must-watch Christmas horror movie for anyone who likes their tinsel tangled with blood. We then unwrap some Christmas horror gaming with the PS1-style indie nightmare Christmas Massacre, where retro graphics, a whispering Christmas tree, and a deeply disturbed killer turn nostalgic winter vibes into something nasty and unforgettable. If you're into indie horror games, lo-fi visuals, and brutally mean Christmas horror, this one belongs on your December playlist. For fans of analog horror and late-night weirdness, we shine a frosty spotlight on Local 58's Real Sleep—a fake infomercial that slowly mutates into something cosmic, invasive, and deeply wrong. It's perfect for those long, cold nights where the TV glow is the only light in the room. Our Deep-Cut Spotlight settles on Ghost Story (1981), a wintry ghost tale about regret, buried secrets, and a haunting that refuses to stay in the past. Legendary performances and snow-dusted atmosphere make it an ideal December ghost story to curl up with while the wind howls outside and the Christmas lights flicker.Along the way, we celebrate horror icons with birthdays this week, revisit the seismic impact of Wes Craven's Scream (1996) as a late-December slasher staple, and build you a Christmas horror watchlist loaded with slashers, ghost stories, analog nightmares, and cold-weather horror comfort films.Where to watch this week's picks (U.S.):Black Christmas (1974) – Currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, Shudder, AMC+ and more, and also free with ads on platforms like Tubi and The Roku Channel. Ghost Story (1981) – Streaming on Amazon Prime Video (including Prime with ads), with digital rent/buy options on Amazon, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. Christmas Massacre (Game) – Available digitally on Steam, GOG, PlayStation, Xbox, and directly from the Puppet Combo store for PC collectors. Young Frankenstein (1974) – As of this week it's not on major subscription services in the U.S.; your best bet is grabbing a digital copy or Blu-ray from retailers like Amazon and other disc shops. Hit play on this episode of This Week in Horror History for a Christmas horror history lesson you can turn directly into a holiday horror movie night—plus the details on our sponsor's special seasonal deal.Support the show and get a tasty energy drink without the crash at AspireDrinks.com and get 25% off with promo code SPOOKY at checkout!

Indeed, there's something for everyone, a draw for all comers. For starters, what's new? Two Star Wars offerings, Larian's secret Divinity project, Jonathan Blow's long-awaited Order of the Sinking Star, a sequel to Remedy's Control, Toshihiro Nagoshi's anticipated Yakuza rival Gang of Dragon, two Tomb Raider games in the form of a remake and something unseen, a Cyberpunk-like called NO LAW, and even Mega Man 12 -- well, Mega Man Dual Override, anyway -- to keep Colin fed, and more beyond that. And new looks, too, at PlayStation games like Saros and 4:LOOP, as well as Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, Exodus, and Phantom Blade 0. And then there are the awards themselves, and the pomp and circumstance, and... well... there's a lot to discuss! Plus, we have all of the non-TGA happenings from the past week, too. PlayStation Wrap-Up is live, Deviation's cancelled second party shooter has leaked, London Studio's cancelled multiplayer game has seemingly reemerged under a new team, Call of Duty might be in trouble, and so on. Then: Listener inquiries! Could MLB: The Show succeed on PC with a Football Manager-style experience? Does Netflix really see no value in WB's gaming assets? Is a rumored $1 million for three minutes of advertising at The Game Awards too much? Remember when Dustin called DW from Arthur Double D? Please keep in mind that our timestamps are approximate, and will often be slightly off due to dynamic ad placement. 0:00:00 - Intro0:27:06 - Sacred Compliments0:33:32 - A happy write in for once0:45:45 - Double D0:48:04 - Slandering the English1:01:45 - Glass Snapple1:09:54 - The Game Awards overall thoughts1:25:51 - Pragmata1:30:02 - Tank Rat1:33:16 - Bradley the Badger1:37:49 - Stupid Never Dies1:42:15 - Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic1:50:40 - Divinity1:57:23 - 4LOOP2:04:34 - Coven of the Chickenfoot2:08:56 - Ontos2:13:45 - Resident Evil Requiem2:15:35 - Order of the Sinking Star2:24:09 - Exodus2:26:48 - Warlock: Dungeons and Dragons2:27:55 - Control Resonant2:35:28 - Gang of Dragon2:41:22 - Street Fighter movie2:45:11 - Lego Batman2:47:39 - Tomb Raider2:56:09 - Saros2:58:32 - NO LAW3:03:56 - DMC Season 23:04:20 - Ace Combat 83:06:40 - Star Wars: Galactic Racer3:07:37 - Out of Words3:10:33 - Phantom Blade 03:12:02 - Mega Man: Dual Override3:20:41 - Highguard3:34:27 - PlayStation Wrap-Up 20253:52:14 - PlayStation 20264:02:32 - Can we thank Flight Sim for Xbox on PlayStation4:09:26 - Deviation's cancelled game has leaked4:24:06 - Ex-London Studio's game reemerges4:35:37 - Maybe Call of Duty isn't doing so great?4:54:32 - Capcom wants to grow their smaller IPs4:58:08 - New PS+ games5:02:35 - What We've Been Playing (Metal Eden, Dying Light: The Beast, Skate Story, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Metroid Prime 4, YARG)5:32:21 - Rise of actors in games5:42:19 - Would Chris and Dustin play sports games?5:50:22 - PlayStation making a Football Manager game5:56:27 - Is WB games "worthless”?6:04:28 - $1 Million for a Game Awards trailer6:09:14 - Refunding Game Pass Learn more about your ad choices. Episode 735: Neal and Toby look into why Cannabis stocks are up as Trump is expected to sign an executive order to reclassify marijuana. Then, another Trump executive order wants to challenge state AI regulations without the help of Congress. Plus, a little known kid-friendly gaming console has been flying off the shelves, even outselling the Xbox. Meanwhile, restaurant diners are leaning on appetizers to satisfy their cravings, which has some economists pointing out that it's another symptom of the “k-shaped economy.” Finally, what you need to know in the week ahead. The Blockchain Syndicate: A Contemporary Thriller by Robbie Bach https://www.amazon.com/Blockchain-Syndicate-Contemporary-Thriller/dp/B0F9GYKTL9 https://theblockchainsyndicate.com/ A dead man blackmails a United States senator. A Russian assassin leaves a trail of bodies. A cryptic criminal syndicate unleashes financial chaos. A courageous war hero races to save her family—and her country. Set amid the turbulence of today's headlines, this gripping techno thriller—the second in Bach's series to feature Tamika Smith—pulses with high-stakes intrigue and razor-edged political drama. Senator Tamika Smith's new year begins in shambles. First she receives an email threatening to expose her past—a threat from someone she knows is dead. Then her boyfriend, Johnny Humboldt, is kidnapped in broad daylight after his daughter is wounded in a California school shooting. Someone is desperate to take Tamika down and damage the country she loves. The attacks are professional, the delivery is flawless, and the message unmistakable: America is broken, and someone is determined to fix it their way. Standing in the eye of the storm, Tamika must navigate a political landscape riddled with betrayal, misinformation, and moral decay to rescue Johnny and uncover the group behind the web of conspiracy. As the country spirals toward financial Armageddon and democracy itself begins to unravel, Tamika must decide what she is willing to sacrifice to save her family and pull the nation back from the brink. With its sharp blend of shadowy villains and morally torn heroes, The Blockchain Syndicate dares you to question everything—right up to the final, breathless moment. In today's Daily Fix:Casey Hudson, director of the just-announced Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, is assuring fans that the game will be out before 2030. This comes after some on social media are guessing the game won't be about until then, which isn't too wild of a guess considering Hudson's new studio was just formed this past summer, and the long development times of Triple-A games these days. There's also the KOTOR remake, which was announced in 2021 and has seemingly been stuck in development hell since then. In other news, Larian Studios just dropped a new update for console versions of Divinity: Original Sin 2. The game is now optimized for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, as well as Nintendo Switch 2. The next game in the series, titled Divinity, was just announced at least week's Game Awards. And speaking of, Phantom Blade Zero made a splash at The Game Awards with a new trailer, but if you're an Xbox or Nintendo fan, don't expect the game to launch side-by-side with the PS5 version. Phantom Blade Zero is a PS5 exclusive for at least one year.

In this episode, we discuss some of the biggest news throughout the year. From the Oval Office embarrassment of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to war in Sudan, and the Louvre heist. We discuss how Artificial Intelligence is constantly shaping our world, and what will a world with Netflix acquiring Warner Bros. look like? This has been a year filled with ups and downs, some inspiring stories, as well as some defeating ones. A year where resilience became a n necessity in the face of more mass layoffs from companies who were constantly turning profit. We've seen gold and Bitcoin hit all time highs, and PlayStation announcing the arrival of the original Xbox original, Halo, to the platform in 2026. As we mourn the deceased, we celebrate our victories. 2026 is upon us, and as the saying goes: We go again. Connect with us:@backyardconversations @iGbenga @TemiDavis @dpencilpusher

What happens when your brand has a million different voices speaking to a million different customers? Is that the pinnacle of personalization, or is it just brand chaos? Agility requires both the speed to personalize content for every individual as well as the control to ensure every one of those interactions faithfully represents the core brand. Today, we're going to talk about resolving one of the biggest paradoxes in modern marketing: achieving hyper-personalization at massive scale, without sacrificing brand governance and consistency. We'll explore how generative AI is moving from a creative novelty to a core operational engine for enterprise marketing, enabling brands to craft unique stories for every customer, while ensuring they all sing from the same hymn sheet. To help me discuss this topic, I'd like to welcome, Jason Ing, CMO at Typeface.
