12212 Conversation Lane is two friends making conversation with no real structure, set topics or conversation points. There is no agenda, themes, or categories. At 12212 Conversation Lane anything goes and we're open from 12-to-12 for conversation!
On this episode we cover a multitude of topics, from marijuana, binary vs. non-binary, detention centers, to the 2020 presidential campaign of Andrew Yang.
On another episode of 12212 we are all over the map, this is a good one! An open mind never hurts, we're all just people at the end of the day.
We have a guest on the show this episode and we talked about a whole bunch of stuff… From cake, to the curse of knowledge; the book series “Pen Dragon”, Twitter, our first drinks, eating ass, pooping your pants, using your degree, stand-up comedy, routine/discomfort, smoking before workouts, sports, learning basketball, universal basic income, and more…
We’re always open, from 12212! This time, we open with a “That 70’s Show” reference and talk about one of the greatest comedy shows of all time, Family Guy. We question why and how we came up with the concept of schools. One of us is learning about writing structure and reverse engineering Harry Potter books to learn about all the detail that goes into writing a novel. We talk about completing goals and tasks and their relationship to elapsed time. We discuss “The Power of Habit” and how we are implanting its ideas into our lives. We expatiate about whether or not we would let our boss put a chip in us and all the benefits and pitfalls of such technology, including robotic arms. We debate about whether or not universal health care is close to being implemented and come across the idea that commerce creates commerce. We question America’s current political structure and get on our soap box about weddings and one of us gives a sermon on how similar weddings are to theatre or performance art. That conversation leads into how Hollywood has romanticized our lives and bent our perception of reality. One of us is competing in a comedy competition, has given up on the tiny home lifestyle, and the other is in the process of designing a home and searching to purchase a property for the first time. We hope you enjoy the conversation, come join us sometime!
On this episode of 12212 we discuss what it’s like to learn about the culture and norms involved in being a stand-up comic. We discuss suicide and mental health in general and the connectivity that humans have around the world. We canvass about drugs laws and how one person using a particular drug has an effect and another and how any kind of decision by one person has effect on bystanders. We consider that Thanos might be very similar to Hitler and dissert on the concept of “right vs. wrong”. We briefly touch on the famous shark vs. bear argument and expand on what it would be like to fight an animal which leads into conversation about boxing and working out with partners. One of us is traveling all over America and dealing with a gambling issue which is leading to bad eating habits and lengthy visits to Disney on mushrooms. We contemplate the best environments for a mushroom trip and contend with why comedy has become so politicized. Among other things, we talk about tiny homes, training your dog, concussions, Japanese food, and getting off social media… Enjoy!
On another episode of 12212 we dissect rules 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, and 10 of Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos. The rules steer the conversation off into discussion on religion justifying our existence and dominance hierarchies. We dive deep into talking about how we live between order and chaos and talk in depth about having difficult conversations with friends about relationships. We also talk about our disgust with side seat drivers as well as a new-found love for meditation and much more…
One of us has decided to quit our job to pursue a career in stand up comedy. On this episode of 12212 we discuss the in's and outs of that decision. We also reflect on the perception people have of what someone under the influence of marijuana acts like. You will also hear a story about almost being arrested and how even the most conservative places in the country aren't worried about marijuana. That story stems a brief discussion about how interesting and difficult it is to craft a joke.
In the tenth and longest episode of 12212 you will hear the story of an open mic experience and how the environment has a big impact on the overall experience. This leads into a dissection of the concept of Feng Shui and its different elements. You will also hear the story of one of our first times negotiating for a raise, talk on the latest in NBA action, a UFC 218 recap, as well as discussion of the grey areas and nuance that goes into the recent allegations of sexual harassment and assault in the work place which all somehow comes back around to the concept of chi and the practice of Feng Shui.
On the ninth installment of 12212 we discuss the various kinds of laughter, give an update on the elbow recovery process and try to figure out whether or not having a dominate hand is a learned behavior or innate. We review the upcoming UFC 218 card and discuss the latest NBA news including the Cav’s win streak, the Ball family, Giannas telling his coach “I’ll fuck you up” and James Hardens style of play. We also dive into the dynamics of teaching/coaching vs. participating and how great it feels to mentor people younger than you and pass down wisdom. We joke about Trump calling Elizabeth Warren Pocahontas and the latest news on North Korea’s ballistic missile capabilities as well as the new advertisement mandate on Tobacco companies and plenty more in between.
On this episode of 12212 we discuss injury recovery and how much value an injury can give each moment of your life. We talk about making lifestyle changes and taking ownership of your life and how important decision making is and realize how many of the decisions we weren’t making as a kid. As kids, it feels like growing up means no more dealing with your mother, when in reality she’s doing all the work and you are just having fun at all costs and how these motherly figures are always in our lives regardless of your actual mother being in it. Having an organized physical space means having an organized mental space. The topic then shifts to the miracle of life and how important it is to just experience the good and the bad in life and discuss what it might be like to be a blade of grass as well as human beings dependence on other people but how our relationships with our phones are becoming the strongest relationship many people have. How often are we doing whatever we are doing just to escape our thoughts? That leads to discussion of the difference between supplements and drugs which leads into discussion of the current NBA landscape of positionless swiss army knife players and scoring point guards and the Boston Celtics win streak.
