The host's of CSN The Network Podcast return this week to discuss NFL football, NBA playoffs and the opening night for WNBA basketball. The regular season schedule was released for all NFL teams this week, the host's previewed each of their favorite teams schedule and provided analysis on how their team would perform. The host's also discussed the trade they sent former Pittsburgh Steelers Wideout George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. In the NBA, we discussed if Anthony Edwards was a top 5 player in the NBA, and we also discussed what players were all in the top 5 of the NBA. We discussed the Celtics and their championship window now that Tatum is hurt, what the warriors could do to maximize the end of Curry's career, do the Cleveland Cavaliers need more help despite the talent on the current roster, who has the best roster left in the NBA playoffs and we discussed trade rumors surrounding star players such as Giannas and Trae Young. In the WNBA, we previewed opening weekend and the games we are looking forward to, as well as roster cuts/additions that were made. Gianna & Helmut sind als Vorstand Teil vom Aachener Netzwerk für humanitäre Hilfe und interkulturelle Friedensarbeit e.V., dessen Gründungsgeschichte eng mit dem Balkankrieg in den 90er-Jahren verbunden ist. Vor ungefähr 30 Jahren fand die erste LKW-Fahrt mit Hilfsgütern aus Aachen ins damals eingekesselte Tuzla/BIH unter lebensbedrohlichen Bedingungen statt. Seitdem sorgt der Verein dafür, dass nicht nur in akuten Notlagen geholfen, sondern sich auch vor Ort aktiv für Frieden zwischen Kulturen & Völkern eingesetzt wird und Fluchtursachen bekämpft werden. Aus kleinen Ideen wurden hierbei große Projekte: Sei es das jährlich am Weltfriedenstag stattfindende Friedenstheaterfestival "Bina Mira", der "Flame for Peace"-Friedenslauf von Sarajevo nach Aachen, die Unterstützung von diversen Hilfsprojekten u.a. in Bosnien (SOS Bihac), Calais & Lesbos als auch eine aktuelle Kooperationspartnerschaft für die Ausstellung "Menschenrechte an den Außengrenzen der EU - Anspruch & Wirklichkeit". Diese soll u.a. auch an Schulen für Aufklärung sorgen und darauf aufmerksam machen, dass aktuell weltweit über 84 Mio. Menschen auf der Flucht sind - so viele wie noch nie zuvor. Wir sprechen auch über Giannas & Helmuts langen Weg bis hin zum Verein, welcher nicht unterschiedlicher hätte sein können. Gianna kam 1991, im Alter von 15 Jahren, zusammen mit ihrer Zwillingsschwester aus Bosnien und ging davon aus, nur zwei Wochen bleiben zu müssen - es dauerte 7 Jahre, bis sie ihr damaliges Zuhause wiedersah. Ihre Erfahrungen bringt sie heute in den Verein mit ein. Helmut kam als Student nach Aachen, engagierte sich schon früh bei Greenpeace und integrierte dann Geflüchtete in seinen Aachener Lauftreff - wenig später zogen zwei Jungs aus Syrien bei ihm zu Hause ein und wurden Teil seiner Familie. Zusammen mit ihren ehrenamtlichen Mitstreiter*innen leisten sie nicht nur tolle Arbeit, sondern dienen auch als Vorbild für Engagement, Integrationsarbeit und ein friedliches Miteinander.
