Mego gets into the weeds of why taking so many three pointers isn't the main issue for the Celtics; rather its the personnel that did not carry over from the last two seasons.
The Celtics blew the doors off of the Wizards 136-107 behind monster performances from JB and Minott! JB led the way with 35pts 5reb and 5ast and started this game red hot scoring on 16 of the teams first 20pts and never seemed to slow down! Minott scored a career high 21pts tonight and was a menace defensively in his most aggressive game of the year. Pritchard scored 16 of his 18 points during their huge 2nd quarter run and Queta added a beautiful 15pt 12reb 5ast game. This is by far the best a big has played for the Celtics all season long. It was certainly an ugly first quarter but the Celtics cleaned up all of their mistakes and played a near flawless 3 quarters after it. The Celtics move to 4-5 on the year with back to back games against the Magic coming up! This podcast is brought to you by me, Guy DePlacido. MTP Boston returns with Rayshawn Buchanan and Mike Marcangelo breaking down everything happening in Boston sports as the Celtics fight for rhythm and the Patriots keep finding ways to win. The Boston Celtics are off to a 3-4 start, and while their defense ranks third in the NBA, the offense remains inconsistent. Mike points to improved perimeter coverage and effort, while Rayshawn calls out what’s holding them back — rebounding and half-court execution. They break down Jalen Brown’s streaky scoring, Derrick White’s struggles from deep, and how Neemias Queta has quietly become one of Boston’s most reliable players. Queta’s toughness, rebounding, and shot-blocking have earned him a larger role, while Xavier Tillman’s versatility continues to give the rotation some flexibility against bigger lineups. The hosts debate whether Anfernee Simons should take on a larger offensive role to boost second-unit scoring. Rayshawn argues that Simons adds the tempo and shot creation Boston’s offense needs, while Mike warns that defensive lapses could cost them against playoff-caliber teams. Both agree that Boston’s offense often stalls late in games, especially when transition opportunities disappear. They discuss the team’s identity post-Porzingis and Horford, emphasizing how this younger, more athletic roster is built to play faster but still needs consistency on the boards. Rayshawn believes the Celtics can string together wins if they recommit to rebounding and off-ball movement. Mike sees potential but says the margin for error in the East is thin. Then it’s on to Foxborough. The New England Patriots, led by Mike Vrabel, have won five straight and now sit at 7-2, looking like a real AFC contender. Drake Maye continues to impress with his poise, mobility, and control. Stefon Diggshas transformed the passing game, and Trevion Henderson’s emergence adds explosiveness to the run game. The hosts debate how Rhamondre Stevenson’s return could change the backfield balance and how Vrabel’s leadership has restored accountability across the roster. Rayshawn praises the Patriots’ undefeated road record, while Mike highlights how Vrabel has reignited a winning culture built on toughness and smart football. They close with NFL Week 10 predictions, including matchups like Patriots vs Buccaneers, Vikings vs Ravens, Rams vs 49ers, and Eagles vs Packers. The Celtics fall to the Jazz 105-103 and the final play perfectly exemplified tonight's game. Nurkic gets an offensive rebound and putback to take the lead with .6 seconds left. The Celtics wasted yet another excellent game from JB who ended the night with 36pts. This game was a nail biter down the stretch and the Celtics did get screwed a bit with a no call on a play where JB was so blatantly tripped it's almost laughable but that was far from the reason they lost this game. While White and Pritchard did (sort of) break out of their shooting slumps shooting 37.5% and 36.4% from 3 respectively, which is far better than where they have been this season, the Celtics ended the night shooting just 41% from the field and 21% from 3 and allowed 15 offensive rebounds in this game. I don't care how good JB played, it is going to be very hard to win any games like that. The only reason it was close is because of how bad the Jazz are lol.
