The Milwaukee Bucks continued their losing streak to top Eastern Conference foes, falling to 0-8 vs the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics following a blowout loss on Sunday afternoon that saw the Knicks hang 140 on Milwaukee in a rout. The Bucks had no answers for Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns for most of the game, and tried multiple defenders on each of them. Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti discussed how hapless Milwaukee looked and what, if anything, the Bucks should've done differently in the game before examining the needs on the roster, and wondering if Chris Livingston could help after he had a dominant G League performance in a Wisconsin Herd win on the same day. Can the Bucks carry both Bobby Portis and Brook Lopez into the postseason given their poor matchup vs some of the top teams, and how necessary is another center option? They also discussed how Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard can play better, including trying a new free throw routine and staying aggressive throughout the game. The Celtics narrowly hung on to edge the Pelicans 120-119 on Sunday night. The shooting struggles for Boston continued and they saw a gutsy effort from a suddenly healthier-than-usual Pels squad. There were some uncharacteristic bonehead plays down the stretch that gave NOLA a real chance to steal this one, but the Celts pulled it out by the skin of their teeth. Chud and Doug break it all down, give out their Chuddy Chains, and take a saunter around the NBA. The Celtics finally got back home after their road trip but laid an egg against the Kings, falling 114-97. The shots simply weren't falling all night and the Kings were just a step quicker to every loose ball. Boston will look to get back on track on Sunday against the Pelicans. The Kings went into Boston and finally against a fully healthy team. Not only a fully healthy team, but a team that is bigger, stronger and more experienced team at every position. Plus the fact that star De'Aaron Fox was out for the game it was understandable that their 5 game winning streak would come to an end. But they beat them. Huh? Yes the Kings somehow outlasted and dominated the defending champs and won going away. It was real show of resilience, toughness and execution by the Kings as they earn their best win of the season and extend their winning streak to 6. HR3 - The guys start debating the chances Ben Johnson has compared to de-facto favorite Mike Vrabel. What could Johnson do during his interview to make Robert Kraft potentially think twice about the next head coach? Then, the Bruins are skidding and Jon is not that high on things getting better not just now, but for the long term future. And, the recent road trip just showed to the Celtics and their fans that the road to another championship won't be as easy as it was a year ago.
(00:00) Zolak and Bertrand open the show by touching on Mike Vrabel’s interview with the Patriots today. (10:52) We dive into Andrew Callahan and Doug Kyed’s piece about the dysfunction with Jerod Mayo this past season. (24:13) The crew touches on where these leaks from the Patriots are coming from. (31:34) We finish up the hour with Celtics HC Joe Mazzulla touching on Jerod Mayo getting fired, Jayson Tatum being called soft, and the state of the Celtics.
A three point shot is better than a layup. A 3-1 road trip is better than 2-2. And three Celtic fanatics inside the Lounge are better than two. Cap and Guillermo welcome a new co-host to the show, and we discuss Boston's impressive road trip through the Northwest Division's gauntlet.
