1st Place (audio): "Bit of This and That"

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 26, 2009 4:15

Krizia Bassanini's "A bit of this and that", made with Logic Pro 8 and its instruments and samplers. The main rhythmic elements were built from a mixture of loops and programmed instruments using the EXS24 sampler. The idea for this song came about after having observed both men and women trying to seduce one another. Sometimes the attempt is purely a means of physical gratification, with the lyrics “all it takes is a bit of this and that” suggesting that with a bit more effort and preparation it could turn into more than just a chase. It is an observation of the fruitless and unsatisfying emotional desert that you can find in any social gathering.

    2nd Place (audio): "Plain Sight"

This could be perceived to concern anyone: a partner, a family member or friend. It is largely open, and though written from personal feelings.

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 26, 2009 1:15

Juan Carlos' "Bitacora", made using Final Cut Studio 2, Motion 3, Shake 4.1 and Photoshop. The idea of this film is to show how childhood fears can influence people to become someone not to be proud of.

Hannah Kollsete's "Johan Johansen Hansen", made using Final Cut Pro 6. A portrait of Johan Joansen Hansen, the owner of the most uncool name in the country – happily neurotic and an avid lover of crispy bread. This film is more a celebration of everyday, quirky OCD's that we all have.

    3rd Place (video): "Echo"

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 26, 2009 5:09

Christopher Wollebekk's "Echo", made with , made using Final Cut Pro 6. Memories from his youth come back when the boy turns 18 and has to move out of the child care institution. The wrongs of the past will always be a part of him.

4th Place (video): "Le Jour du Permis (facebook)"

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 26, 2009 1:10

Ambroise Carminati's "Le Jour du Permis (facebook)", made with Final Cut Pro. The idea of this video was to highlight how the word "friends" in particular is distorted nowadays and that superficial and deleterious appearance of the social relationships with Facebook is one of the darkest sides of Mankind, which makes people deeply pessimistic with regards to the future. The cynical tune was crucial in dealing with such a subject.
