In this CPQ Podcast episode, Frank Sohn talks with Martin Johansen, founder of Mercura, a Denmark-based CPQ vendor focused on small to mid-sized manufacturers. With a background in finance and international business, Martin started Mercura straight out of college—initially building a configurator “by accident” for a customer request—and has since grown it into a SaaS platform used across Europe. We discuss Mercura's no-code setup and short implementation cycles (often 1–2 months), its support for cost-plus pricing, and partner/distributor workflows where channel users can upload and manage their own price lists. Martin explains how Mercura's in-browser 3D visualization enables room planning, snap-to placement, and collision detection in real time. While Mercura doesn't connect directly to CAD suites, customers can supply STEP files or drawings for CPQ-side visualization. A big portion of the conversation covers integrations—especially Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales and Microsoft Business Central—plus experience with PIM solutions and HubSpot. Martin shares how Mercura applies AI on the admin side to speed configuration/rules setup, why headless is not a near-term priority, and the company's focus on manufacturers in sectors like playground equipment and healthcare (typical 5–200 users). We also touch on his sales mindset, weekly tennis/soccer routine, and how the book Work the System shapes Mercura's process discipline. Listen in for practical insights on delivering an easy-to-implement CPQ with modern visualization and tight Microsoft integrations.

Leadership is rapidly evolving as artificial intelligence becomes deeply integrated into how organizations operate and make decisions. In a world where volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity are the norm, leaders are being challenged to not only understand the role of AI—but also to harness it in ways that enhance what makes leadership truly human. This episode dives into why leaders can no longer afford to treat AI as a separate technical domain, but rather as a strategic partner that augments decision making, stretches creativity, and humanizes leadership itself. As generative AI rapidly advances, the question is not whether leaders should use these tools, but how to do so thoughtfully, ethically, and effectively. This conversation explores how leaders can remain at the center, leverage augmentation, and make deliberate choices that will define competitive advantage and organizational health in the next decade. The episode also emphasizes the necessity of skepticism, risk awareness, and the cultivation of skills—like “human calming”—that will set exceptional leaders apart in an AI-rich world. Timestamped Overview [00:05:27] Introduction to AI and Leadership: Exploring why AI is now essential to leadership development and future success.[00:07:00] The Human Core of Leadership: Discussing the enduring need for human-centered leadership—augmented, not replaced, by technology.[00:08:34] Evolution of Leadership Skills: How classic leadership skills stand the test of time, but require a generative AI lens.[00:09:34] Rethinking “Cyborg Leadership”: Moving beyond science fiction to practical digital augmentation for leaders.[00:11:46] Developing the 10 AI-Augmented Leadership Skills: Why these skills matter and the unique place of “human calming.”[00:15:06] The Role of Human Calming: Centering leaders' intention and composure in an AI-driven world.[00:17:36] The Value of Skepticism: Why questioning, challenging, and stretching assumptions is vital in adopting new technology.[00:19:17] Embracing vs. Rejecting AI: Strategies for experimenting, learning, and building organizational trust with emerging tools.[00:24:00] Facing Risks and Unknowns: Assessing current and future risks—including cyber threats and over-focusing on efficiency.[00:30:03] Effectiveness vs. Efficiency: Shifting the leadership focus toward innovation, not just automation.[00:34:03] All Hands on Deck: Why AI is a human and organizational story—not just a technical one.[00:35:12] Future-Back Thinking: Blending human and machine, and why leaders must choose to play and prototype.[00:39:44] Managing the Noise: How scalable foresight and intentional augmentation can help leaders cut through information overload.[00:43:35] Practical Takeaways: Real-life examples of how leaders can use AI tools to augment creativity and effectiveness.[00:46:22] Embracing Skeptical Foresight: Encouraging leaders to challenge assumptions and stretch their strategic thinking.[00:50:02] Don't Get Discouraged: The learning curve of AI and the importance of hands-on experimentation. NOTICE: This weekly show is now part of the "Happy Hour with John Gaskins" daily podcast, which you can find at SiouxFallsLive.com, MidwestSportsPlus.com, and most podcast platforms like the one you find here! So, if you enjoy the topics Matt & John cover, you'll get those topics, plus relevant local guests, every Monday through Thursday on Happy Hour... so we highly recommend you check that out! Hobo Day hiccup in 2025?Hardly a chance, or so it appears, with No. 2 South Dakota State barging through the second half in Youngstown to improve to 5-0 while 2-3 Northern Iowa stumbled through more growing pains under a new coaching staff in a 35-7 loss to North Dakota. But whenever UNI is listed on SDSU's football schedule as the homecoming opponent, some Jackrabbit fans — especially alumni from 2015 and 2017 — might wince in trauma from past Panther upsets. But is UNI worth any worry this Saturday? Sioux Falls Live sports editor Matt Zimmer has covered the Jacks for a decade and has his thoughts in the latest weekly edition of Happy Hour's "Nobody's Listening Anyway" with John Gaskins.SDSU coach Dan Jackson, in his weekly Happy Hour chat on Monday, conveyed a clear message about what he wants out of Jacks fans on Saturday — strong attempts at the biggest and loudest crowd in Dykhouse Stadium history — and this leads to a discussion about Jackson as the football program's "ambassador" and how natural that unofficial role is for him.Jackson credited his "great program" and "great culture" for the come-from-behind win at then-No. 24 YSU. But was it a great win? Zim and John break down what went wrong in the first half and why SDSU dominated the second half, assess the latest performance from quarterback Chase Mason, and the emerging strength of running back Julius Loughridge and the "605 Hogs" up front. From there, what is there to make of South Dakota's 49-24 win over Murray State, which has lost all of its nine Missouri Valley Conference games since joining the league last season? For at least a game, Travis Johansen was right when he told John last week that his program has too strong of a culture to let the season go off the rails. (Here is Johansen's follow-up chat from Tuesday, with plenty of insight about his defense, penalties, playing violent, and an update on retired predecessor Bob Nielson). The Coyotes have gone "back to the pack" of the rest of the MVFC challengers to NDSU and SDSU's supremacy, but where does USD, UND, Illinois State, Southern Illinois, and Youngstown State appear to be in the current picture? Then, a recap of the latest, incredible chapter in the "Key to the City" series between backyard rivals Augustana and the University of Sioux Falls in which the Vikings came back from a 28-10 fourth quarter deficit to win 29-28 at USF. While Carson Wentz played "fine" in guiding the Minnesota Vikings to their own fourth quarterback in London in another "boring, nondescript" overseas game, what fascinated Zim more than anything on Sunday morning was Will Reichard's fourth quarter field goal kick that was veered off line by striking a seemingly invisible camera — and how nobody seemed to know what the hell happened for a while. The episode ends with the battle between two native South Dakota head coaches in the WNBA Finals, Nate Tibbetts and Becky Hammon. As John mentioned to start Tuesday's show and Zim wrote in a Wednesday column, this source of Rushmore State pride has been decades in the making, a product of a state that has valued and supported girls and women's basketball since well before other states finally found it fashionable.
South American markets and their emerging economies are giving logistics companies growth opportunities through near-shoring, free-trade zones and rising bulk-export demand. In this Talking Transports podcast, Morten Johansen, DP World Americas’ executive vice president and chief operating officer, joins Lee Klaskow, Bloomberg Intelligence senior transportation and logistics analyst, to discuss how the company is positioned to benefit as an end-to-end logistics provider in the region. Many ports in South America are operating at high utilization rates, which could accelerate automation and expansion initiatives. Johansen also talks about expansion opportunities in the Dominican Republic and Brazil, building out its freight-forwarding and contract logistics businesses and how 2026 might shape up. Read transcriptHoly hybridized heroes and gamma-powered game adaptations, comic crusaders! This week on Play Comics, we're diving beak-first into the pixelated pandemonium that is Disney's PK: Out of the Shadows for PS2 and GameCube – because apparently someone thought the best way to honor The New Papernick Adventures (or The Duck Avenger for us North American folks) was to trap Donald Duck's superheroic alter ego in a 3D action-adventure that makes even the most patient gamers quack under pressure. Released in 2002 by Ubisoft Casablanca, this cel-shaded space opera promised to let players wield PK's X-Transformer gadgetry while battling the dastardly Evronians in their quest for galactic domination. What it actually delivered was a gaming experience that had all the depth of a Duckburg puddle and combat mechanics so repetitive that even One, PK's AI companion, probably wished he could compute his way out of this digital disaster. Joining us for this intergalactic expedition into mediocrity is Esh Johansen from the YouTube channel Fiction Addiction – a man who's already subjected himself to this very game and lived to tell the tale with his signature blend of wit and existential gaming dread. Together, we'll explore how this comic book adaptation managed to take one of Disney Italy's most innovative sci-fi superhero series and transform it into a linear platformer that makes rescuing scientists feel like actual work. So grab your cape and prepare for an episode that's infinitely more entertaining than grinding through the same alien duck enemies for hours on end – which, let's be honest, isn't exactly setting the bar at Ducklair Tower heights. Will this Evronians-versus-earthlings adventure redeem itself through sheer nostalgic charm, or will it vanish into the shadows faster than Donald's secret identity? Tune in to discover if this galactic game deserves a place in the Hall of Heroes… or should be banished to the Phantom Zone alongside Superman's worst enemies! Learn such things as: What else can Donald Duck get himself into? Did the developers even get to see the comics before working on this one? How many people are going to come ask me about doing other Disney Duck related games now? And so much more! You can find Esh on YouTube @FictionAddiction. Ufortjent. Ubetinget. Uendelig værdifuld. Prædiken d. 7. 9. 25 ved David Søholm Johansen
Send us a textLast month, The Lancet posted online an article from Stine Johansen, Fredrik Åberg, Emmanuel Tsochatzis and Aleksander Krag, titled "Screening for Advanced Liver Disease." The article aims to update the Wilson and Jungner criteria, initially developed in 1960, to address modern needs and issues. In this conversation, Professor Krag and Dr. Johansen join Roger Green to discuss their article. There are many nuances and high points to cover in this thoughtful, fairly lengthy conversation, but one key point is that screening a mass population for HCC or cirrhosis has an entirely different set of issues and criteria compared to the screening usually discussed on this podcast, which involves identifying a population at increased risk for MASLD or MASH and screening them. Also, healthcare is far more expensive than it was in 1960 with a plethora of high-cost ways to diagnose, treat and manage patients. As a result, the authors started with the 10 Wilson and Jungner criteria and added eight more. During this conversation, Stine emphasizes the need for a comprehensive clinical trial on this issue, and all panelists agree that LiverAIM is likely to serve as the study.

Send us a text00:00:00 - Surf's Up: Season 6 Episode 13 Louise Campbell, Jörn Schattenberg and Roger Green continue their discussion of some major issues from earlier this year, while co-authors Aleksander Krag and Stine Johanset join Roger to discuss their recent publication in The Lancet, titled "Screening for Advanced Liver Disease." 00:04:45 - Major Issues of the First Six Months: Integrated Patient ManagementLouise drives this conversation based on two related issues she sees emerging: (i) increasing opportunities for motivated patients to manage their own health and (ii) managing the total patient in an environment where people may be taking incretin agonists as if they are consumer drugs. With increased access to scanning, providers can monitor patients (and patients can self-monitor) more closely. However, some of the issues a provider might find are tricky: patients who undertake what Louise describes as "the sneaky areas patients think are normal, but are probably contributing to disease" due to miseducation or no education on healthy eating and lifestyle, or patients purchasing and using incretin agonists through consumer channels, but possibly at subtherapeutic doses. Vigilance and probing are key here, but health systems will need to train more people on the types of probing that uncover underlying issues and behaviors that patients mistakenly believe to be healthy. 00:21:02 - Newsmakers: Aleksander Krag and Stine Johansen discuss Screening for Advanced Liver DiseaseLast month, The Lancet posted online an article from Stine Johansen, Fredrik Åberg, Emmanuel Tsochatzis and Aleksander Krag, titled "Screening for Advanced Liver Disease." The article aims to update the Wilson and Jungner criteria, originally developed in 1960, to address modern needs and issues. In this conversation, Professor Krag and Dr. Johansen join Roger Green to discuss their article. Roger discusses the idea that some scanners keep all data resident in the machine, while others send it immediately to the cloud. Louise suggests that we should welcome any reliable scanning device to the market. Separately, he lists some concerns about how the Trump Administration's focus on cutting services to the poor, coupled with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s distrust of pharmaceuticals and mainstream health research, might limit the number of Americans with access to healthcare and the kinds of care they can access. At the end of this conversation, Roger asks Jörn and Louise what they consider major issues for the next six months.01:11:40 - Business Report and Wrap-Up

On Monday, December 11, 2023 22-year-old Lauren Johansen and her boyfriend, Bricen Rivers, were on vacation in Nashville and out at a bar. Bricen and Lauren had known each other for years. They had dated on and off since high school and on the surface, seemed happy. But behind the scenes, the relationship was violent. Lauren’s father later told police that Bricen was physically abusive to his daughter, and that he had stalked Lauren for years. On December 11, things took a horrific turn. Lauren and Bricen were hanging out at a bar when Bricen flew into a jealous rage and accused Lauren of having sex with a bartender. The fight continued after they left the bar. Hours later, police came to the scene and found Lauren screaming in a parking lot. She had been hit dozens of times, brutally beaten. The inside of the car was covered in blood. They arrested Bricen and he was charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated stalking, and coercion of a witness. He was taken to jail, and a judge set his bail at $250,000. It seemed like Lauren and Bricen’s violent relationship was finally at an end. But tragically, that was not the case. Bricen’s lawyer asked for a reduced bond, and in March, the judge agreed to lower it. So on June 24, 2024 Bricen was released from Davidson County Jail. Eight days later, Lauren Johansen was found dead in the trunk of her car. “You can't have a million-dollar dream with a minimum wage work ethic.” – Stephen C. Hogan Check Out These Highlights: If you have been following me, I have been on a mission lately to shift the thinking that it's not okay to accept the hostile way some huge corporate conglomerates have been treating their employees. It's unconscionable! I want to help people shift their mindset from feeling trapped with the only option in life being to work in a corporate setting to stepping out on their own and creating freedom in their lives, while also giving back to the world with their gifts and genius. In today's episode, my guest and I will discuss what it truly takes to break free from the 9-to-5 and the mindset required to build financial freedom and a happy life. He's going to share the raw truth about growth, visibility, and the importance of authenticity in today's digital space. Whether you're just getting started or you're ready for your next level, this conversation will light a fire under you. About Philip Johansen: Philip is also known as Hustle Phil. He deleted my 1.2 million Instagram followers to start from scratch and achieve success online (his new account is currently at 50k+ followers and growing daily). Philip built a multi-million-dollar affiliate marketing business, and now he helps others do the same. Just a few years ago, he was a plumber in Denmark, commuting three hours a day, wondering if that was all life had to offer. Hitting rock bottom forced him to make a change, and through relentless discipline and a proven system, he turned everything around. Today, he runs a thriving affiliate marketing business, helping people worldwide escape the 9-5 and create financial freedom. He has personally mentored over 15,000 students, many of whom have replaced their job or supplemented their salary with $3,000-$5,000 per month for more freedom. The transformations he sees every day are what keep me fired up. Jason JohansenBuilt from the Ground Up: Real Estate, Resilience, and Doing the ImpossibleIn 2001, I was a young soldier stationed in Columbia, South Carolina when a late-night infomercial stopped me in my tracks. Real estate. Wealth. Freedom. I had no background, no mentor, no plan—but something lit a fire. I dove into books, learning everything I could about investing. It was the first time I saw a way out. Then came the knock—deployment to Tikrit, Iraq. I had enlisted three days before 9/11, told I'd never be sent to a war zone. Suddenly I was packing up, leaving behind the dream I had just started to chase.Want to be a guest on Book 101 Review? Send us a textErin Johansen is a communications supervisor for a medical flight company, and she's got her finger on the pulse of the air transport industry. Having grown up in the flight business, she is intimately familiar with each position she oversees. Imagine a Situation room of sorts. During her 12-hour night shifts, Erin often navigates a bustling control room where 15 to 20 medical flights are in progress at any given time. On particularly hectic nights, that number can soar into the 30s. Picture a team of eight flight coordinators, each surrounded by multiple monitors, managing calls from hospitals for inter-facility transfers, law enforcement inquiries for missing persons, on-scene emergencies, and requests for fire suppression. With operations extending across seven states and over 60 bases from Hawaii to Colorado, the environment can become quite chaotic. Erin is the backbone of this operation. If communication fails in any way, it could threaten safety or cause delays in patient transport. She must be adaptable and she must be vigilant, knowing that the trust she builds with her colleagues and customers is essential to effective communication. This excellent communication, in turn, reinforces that trust, creating a win-win for all involved. In the five-minute snippet: It's the City of Trees. When you're in the middle of writing your book, it can feel like the finish line is miles away. But here's what many first-time authors don't realize: writing the book is just one part of a much bigger journey. Getting your book published is a milestone, but it's what comes after that truly defines your book's success. Marketing is where you connect with your audience, build credibility, and create lasting impact. If you go it alone, you might feel overwhelmed, but with the right support and strategy, you can transform your book into a powerful tool that grows your business. At the Biz Book Pub Hub, I've gathered experts who guide entrepreneurs through every phase of the author journey. Our community is dedicated to helping you navigate writing, publishing, and, most importantly, marketing your book so you don't have to do it alone. Visit www.BizBookPubHub.com for resources, networking events, and support for authors at any stage of their journey. Before we dive into today's panel, here's a quick word from our sponsor. Joining us today are three successful business authors who will share insights from their author journeys. Kim Rozdeba wrote “Branding Queens: Discover branding secrets from twenty incredible women who built global brand dynasties,” a collection offering valuable insights and strategies for creating and growing a successful brand. Mila Johansen wrote “101 Surprising Tips To Promote Your Book: When and How to Build Hype” for authors looking to jumpstart their book promotion early, with actionable and unique strategies that ensure you're not waiting until after publication to build momentum. Please join me in welcoming Kim and Mila. In this episode, we discuss the following: The journey of an author extends significantly beyond writing the book. Marketing plays a crucial role in reaching audiences and establishing the book's success post-publication. Identifying the correct audience and having a clear strategy are essential for a book's impact. Authors must understand their purpose to guide the book's success. Gathering book reviews, particularly verified ones, is a challenge but crucial for credibility. Effective strategies involve forming a launch team and maintaining consistent follow-up. Books can be powerful tools for business growth. They help build credibility and can attract speaking opportunities and clients, provided there's a plan to leverage them effectively. The 1970s band The New York Dolls made only two studio albums, but the group was hugely influential, setting the stage for punk rock. We listen back to Terry Gross' 2004 interview with the band's co-founder David Johansen, who died last week. The group was described as flashy, trashy and drag queens — but Johansen didn't care. He later went on to perform under the persona of the pompadoured lounge singer Buster Poindexter. Also, film critic Justin Chang reviews Mickey 17, a futuristic action-comedy by Parasite director, Bong Joon Ho.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
