On this week's episode of The MacRumors Show, we discuss Apple's newly launched AirTag 2 and Apple Creator Studio.Earlier this week, Apple announced the second-generation AirTag, marking the first major update to its item tracker since the product's introduction in 2021, with improvements focused on tracking range, audio output, and device support rather than changes to its physical design. The new AirTag uses a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip that extends Precision Finding range by up to 50%, adds support for Precision Finding on compatible Apple Watch models for the first time, and includes an upgraded Bluetooth specification designed to improve general tracking range. Apple also says the built-in speaker is up to 50% louder, making it easier to locate items in noisy environments.Externally, the AirTag remains visually similar to the original and continues to use a replaceable CR2032 coin battery with more than a year of battery life, while internally Apple has made a significant number of internal changes. The second-generation AirTag is priced the same as before at $29 for a single unit or $99 for a four-pack, is compatible with existing AirTag accessories, and requires devices running iOS 26.2.1 or later.Apple also launched Creator Studio, a new all-in-one subscription aimed at content creators. For $12.99 per month, or $129 per year, Creator Studio provides access to Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage, consolidating tools for video editing, music production, image editing, and live performance. The bundle replaces Apple's long-standing one-time purchase model for these apps with a subscription approach, while keeping standalone versions available for users who do not want access to the full package.Beyond bundling existing apps, Creator Studio introduces a set of AI-powered features that are exclusive to subscribers. These include transcript and visual search in Final Cut Pro, enhanced beat detection and new dynamic titles, AI-assisted session players and harmonic analysis in Logic Pro, and new design and warp tools in Pixelmator Pro, which is now available on iPad for the first time. The subscription also unlocks premium AI features in Apple's free productivity apps, including Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, with Freeform support coming later.Creator Studio is available now via the App Store, with a one-month free trial for all users and a three-month trial for customers who purchase a qualifying new Mac or iPad. The subscription supports Family Sharing for up to six people, includes discounted pricing for students and educators.

Recent studies show podcast ads outperform YouTube when it comes to driving real results. If you're a Mac user, we break down Apple's new Creator Studio bundle and the value it offers with tools like Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro. Apps that once required separate purchases are now bundled together, raising an important question: Is this a response to creators looking for alternatives to the increasingly expensive Adobe suite? Listen in to learn what changes are coming and how you can best prepare. This week on AwesomeCast 764, cohosts Michael Sorg, Dave Podnar, and Katie Dudas dive into the week's biggest tech and creator stories—plus a special Animal Crossing 3.0 update field report from Charlotte. Katie checks in with her Animal Crossing–obsessed niece Charlotte to break down what's new, what's addictive, and how “slumber islands” change the way you build and share your island adventures. Then the crew hits a surprisingly heartfelt app story with “Are You Dead?”, a daily check-in safety app built for modern life when friends and family live far apart. We also get into the rise of cozy “chore games” like PowerWash Simulator and other satisfyingly organized gaming obsessions. On the creator side, we break down Apple's new Creator Studio approach—what it could mean for Final Cut, Logic, Motion, and Compressor—and why AI-assisted editing features are starting to matter for everyday workflows. Plus: OpenAI's push toward age prediction and the complications that come with automated verification. In this episode of Basic AF, Tom Anderson and Jeff Battersby kick off the year by digging into some of the biggest Apple stories in early 2026—starting with the news that Apple is partnering with Google to have Gemini power a revamped Siri and Apple Intelligence. The discussion looks at how Gemini might be integrated behind the scenes, and whether Apple's privacy promises can hold up when Google enters the equation. The conversation then turns to Apple Creator Studio, Apple's new subscription bundle that includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, and other creative tools. Tom and Jeff debate who this bundle is really for, how it compares to Apple's older one-time purchase model, and whether subscription fatigue is simply the cost of modern software. From there, they break down Apple's controversial new app icons and macOS Tahoe design changes, followed by concerns over App Store ads becoming harder to distinguish from real search results. The episode wraps with a broader look at Apple's record-breaking services revenue and what it signals about the company's priorities moving forward.Links from the show:Google and Apple issue joint partnership statementReport: Google Gemini will expand Siri's capabilitiesReport: Apple will fine-tune Gemini independentlyApple confirms Google Gemini will power new Siri featuresApple announces Apple Creator StudioApple reports record-breaking Services revenue in 2025Question or Comment? YoutubeSpotifyhttps://supportandfeed.org/BioRising pop-rock artist and multi-talented producer Ed Keiser returns with his new single, “Foreign Land,” a deeply personal and emotionally rich follow-up to his debut release, “You Are Not Alone.” Known for blending reflective storytelling with melodic, immersive production, Keiser once again invites listeners into a vulnerable and honest space shaped by resilience, love, and the human experience. “Foreign Land” expands on the themes first introduced in You Are Not Alone, a song Keiser released to encourage individuals facing loneliness, grief, or difficult circumstances. The debut track resonated widely not only for its message, but also for Keiser's commitment to donate 100 percent of its earnings to Support+Feed and Feeding America. With this new release, he continues building a catalog rooted in empathy, connection, and emotional truth. While You Are Not Alone served as an offering of comfort to those suffering in isolation, Foreign Land turns inward. Written as a dialogue between two lovers navigating trauma, the song was inspired by a painful chapter Keiser and his wife endured together. The verses unfold like a script, capturing an intimate back-and-forth that moves from confusion and fear toward clarity, faith, and renewal. “The song is a conversation between my wife and me,” Keiser explains. “We were going through a very trying time and still finding our way out of it. I wrote the song as an expression for both of us a way to look toward the future with hope. It was my way of helping us breathe again.” Across its four verses, Foreign Land explores uncertainty, spiritual questioning, and the emotional weight of hardship. Lyrics such as “When the pain is so strong, we question why the world is wrong?!” capture the rawness of that moment. Yet the song ultimately lifts upward, offering a path toward restoration through lines like “There will be no pain or fear, only through faith be it clear.” For Keiser, faith served as a grounding force during the creation of the track, though he emphasizes the song's universal message. “It is a song of hope,” he says. “My faith played a central role, but I didn't want to project my beliefs onto others. I embedded them gently, on purpose. The main theme is simple: hang in there—it will get better. It's about love, companionship, and overcoming hardship with your partner or loved one, whatever your beliefs may or may not be.” As both writer and producer, Keiser takes a hands-on approach to his music. Working primarily in Logic Pro, he performs multiple instruments and collaborates with skilled musicians to bring each arrangement to life. His contributions on acoustic guitar, piano, and bass provide a warm foundation, enriched by layered acoustic textures and meticulous production. The track also features acclaimed vocalist and guitarist Jamie Hoover, whose performance adds depth and emotional resonance. With Foreign Land now released, Keiser continues to shape a growing body of work, with plans for a larger project on the horizon. Whether the songs culminate in an EP or full-length album, his goal remains the same: to offer listeners solace, strength, and a reminder that healing is always possible. At the heart of Keiser's work is compassion. To support the approximately 47 million people in the United States experiencing food insecurity—about 1 in 7 Americans, according to the USDA Keiser has donated 100 percent of the earnings from You Are Not Alone and will continue to donate 100 percent of proceeds from Foreign Land to Support+Feed and Feeding America. Foreign Land is available now on all major streaming platforms, with promotional support from Starlight PR.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.

On this year's first episode of The MacRumors Show, we take a look at CES 2026, Apple Creator Studio, and the confirmation that Google Gemini will power the next-generation version of Siri. Following CES 2026, we talk through this year's tech showcase, which saw major announcements related to robotics, AI, and display technology, as well as plenty of new Apple accessories. We discuss some of our favorite products highlighted at the event, such as Strada and the Clicks Power Keyboard.Apple this week announced a new bundle called “Apple Creator Studio" that offers access to six creative apps, as well as exclusive AI features and content, as part of a single subscription. In the U.S., pricing is set at $12.99 per month or $129 per year. Six apps are included with the subscription: Final Cut Pro on the Mac and iPad Logic Pro on the Mac and iPad Pixelmator Pro on the Mac and iPad Motion on the Mac Compressor on the Mac MainStage on the Mac For college students, Apple Creator Studio costs $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year. If you set up Family Sharing, you can share an Apple Creator Studio subscription with up to five other family members with a linked Apple Account for free. Pixelmator Pro was previously only available on the Mac, but it is now coming to the iPad. Apple Creator Studio subscribers will receive access to exclusive AI features and premium content across not only the Final Cut Pro and Pixelmator Pro apps, but also the iWork apps Numbers, Pages, and Keynote, and the Freeform app later this year. Apple Creator Studio will be available through the App Store starting on Wednesday, January 28. Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage will each remain available for one-time purchase, and free versions of the Numbers, Pages, Keynote, and Freeform apps will continue to exist, but only Apple Creator Studio subscribers will receive access to some of the premium new AI features and content. In other news, Apple this week released a statement confirming that Google Gemini will power the next-generation version of Siri that is slated to launch later this year, as was widely rumored. After a considerable delay, the new capabilities will deliver better understanding of a user's personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls.Apple's decision to lean on Google's artificial intelligence technology should result in the revamped Siri being more capable and advanced than it otherwise would have been, as Gemini's large language model is significantly larger than Apple's own model. Apple and Google added that Gemini will help power not only a more personalized version of Siri, but a range of future Apple Intelligence features. The next-generation version of Siri is expected to be introduced with iOS 26.4, which will likely be officially released to the public in March or April.Save more than fifty percent on term life insurance at https://www.selectquote.com/macrumors and get started today!

This episode had a long, strange journey. Recorded at Legit Dogs + Ice in South Elgin less than 48 hours before the restaurant closed for good, this episode features guests Lollygagger, Coyote Man, flowersatherfeet, Chris Baker from Ink 180 and Brennan Weaver/Phil Lisiecki of Wild Dogs Comedy. The recording started an hour later than scheduled, due to house audio problems I still don’t understand. Adding to the weird, “closing forever,” vibes was having to watch people leave the room because they didn’t want to wait any longer for the show to begin. And yet… the guests were fantastic. When I do events like this, the interviewees all give their time and energy to be part of the podcast. No money changes hands; it’s all for the love of the game. Each guest delivered in every possible way, and I’m incredibly grateful for their presence. Back to the strange journey … the sound guy told me I’d have the produced audio from the episode within two weeks of the 8/22/25 recording date. At the two week mark, I emailed asking for an update. He told me he wasn’t interested in working on the files; he had walked away from the project, and I’d need to get the audio from one of Legit Dogs’ investors. Of course, it would have been lovely for him to have told me that on the night of the show, or even in the subsequent two weeks. Alas… That led to me to meeting the investor in Schaumburg on 9/13, who handed over a hard drive with several files. When I opened up the hard drive, I realized the evening’s recordings were captured in Logic Pro, a program I don’t own, and that is cost-prohibitive to pay for (especially for a one-time use). Luckily, Logic Pro offers a 90-day trial, which I signed up for simply to open the 24-track recording. It’s worth noting at this point that I’ve never mixed live audio like this before, particularly live music performances. I’d like to apologize to the bands for your songs ending up in my unprofessional hands. Once in Logic Pro, I exported all 24 tracks as Wav files so I could load them into the digital editor I normally use. After the export finished, I tried to load the tracks into my editor, but that move kept crashing my computer. After a few frustrating hours, I took a piecemeal approach - I loaded in the specific tracks for each individual segment (e.g. band interview, performance, stage announcement) and exported those as I went. Some of the raw spoken word audio sounded like hot garbage, so I did my best to salvage it with AI - admittedly, it doesn’t sound the way I’d like it to, but it’s more usable than it was. Once I had the audio files produced for each of the segments, I then went through the super challenging task of synchronizing the audio to the video. With very limited exception, the video was captured without audio, so it wasn’t possible to auto sync those files. Two other “Easter eggs” found in the live files: My outro/thank yous after Lollygagger weren’t recorded, so I couldn’t include them here. Also, the recording inexplicably stopped during the second flowersherfeet song, only to be picked back up 10 minutes later. A few more notes: Due to music publishing concerns, no music performance was included in the audio episode version. I included one song from each artist in the video episode version. Both songs performed by each bands are available as individual YouTube files. Brennan Weaver’s comedy set is absolutely NSFW. I didn’t include a lot of the Legit Dogs-specific content here. Not out of disrespect, but more because it’s been a month since the restaurant has closed, and the details are already dated. Thanks to Matt, Jenn, Curt, and Jennifer for all their support. Sorry to see a good thing come to an untimely end. The lighting on the main camera totally sucks. Not a show-stopper, but I’m aware that the stage left/stage right footage looked better. Thanks again to Lollygagger, Coyote Man, flowersatherfeet, Chris Baker from Ink 180 and Brennan Weaver/Phil Lisiecki of Wild Dogs Comedy. Send us a textUncovering the musical evolution of Gradients, this episode takes listeners behind the curtain with a Minnesota rock band crafting their sound somewhere in the gradient between hard rock, alternative, and metal. The conversation reveals how a college talent show in 2019 sparked what would become a serious musical endeavor, bringing together musicians with surprisingly diverse influences. What makes Gradients fascinating is their authentic approach to creating music. Three of the members hold audio production degrees and live together, allowing for a constant creative environment where songs emerge organically—sometimes from structured writing sessions, other times from spontaneous late-night jams. The band discusses how their influences range from the Beatles and 70s hard rock to more modern acts like Royal Blood and Arctic Monkeys, creating a unique sonic fingerprint that defies easy categorization. The episode dives deep into their recording process, with the band handling all aspects of production themselves using Logic Pro and carefully planned microphone techniques. We learn how they've evolved from quick demo recordings to more sophisticated production approaches, while maintaining the raw energy that defines their sound. Drummer Trevor, who joined more recently, shares his perspective on learning songs that were already recorded and how his punk-influenced style complements the band's sound.Throughout the conversation runs a thread of friendship and camaraderie—from elaborate pranks (including fully carpeting a bandmate's bathroom) to their shared commitment to high-energy live performances. The band emphasizes how showmanship matters as much as technical skill, with the goal of creating memorable experiences for audiences. With upcoming performances at the Red Carpet in St. Cloud and a new album "Come What May," Gradients represents what happens when musical passion meets technical skill and genuine friendship.Want to experience Gradients for yourself? Become a Relative & send some loveL Marquee, producer, engineer, and self-proclaimed "Unashamed Christ Follower," brings his unique perspective to the podcast, exploring how faith and music production intertwine in today's complex industry landscape. From the first moment I met him in 2017, his charisma and positive energy have been undeniable constants in his approach to both life and music. The conversation dives deep into the technical aspects of music production as L Marquee breaks down his favorite tools—UAD plugins, Logic Pro, Kontakt libraries, and more. But beyond the gear talk, we explore something more profound: the struggle to maintain quality and purpose in an era where streaming has fundamentally changed how music is valued. "When you pay for the cost of one album, you get every song ever, from Mozart to Migos," L Marquee observes, identifying how this economic shift has lowered the stakes for both listeners and creators. What truly sets this discussion apart is the candid examination of faith's role in creative pursuits. Having grown up in the church, L Marquee shares how surrendering his musical ambitions to God transformed his approach from self-serving to service-oriented. This perspective allows him to work with both secular and Christian artists without compromising his values or authenticity. "I'm not necessarily beating people over the head with Christianity," he explains, "but whenever I'm in the studio, that's still what I'm on."The conversation culminates with L Marquee offering two invaluable gems: find fulfillment through serving others with your talents, but establish clear boundaries to prevent being taken advantage of. His balanced approach demonstrates the wisdom gained from twelve years navigating an industry that often pushes artists toward conformity.Whether you're a producer seeking technical insights, an artist exploring how to integrate personal values into your work, or simply someone interested in authentic conversation about creativity and purpose, this episode delivers wisdom that transcends the studio. Guest and HostGuest: Precious Perez, President at RAMPD | On LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/precious-perez-a0548915b/ | Website: https://preciousperezmusica.com/Host: Sean Martin, Co-Founder at ITSPmagazine and Host of Redefining CyberSecurity Podcast & Music Evolves Podcast | Website: https://www.seanmartin.com/Show NotesThe intersection of music, technology, and accessibility is shaping how artists create, perform, and share their work. In this episode of Music Evolves, host Sean Martin speaks with singer, songwriter, and educator Precious Perez, a Berklee College of Music graduate with degrees in music education and vocal performance. As a blind Latina artist and disability advocate, Perez shares her journey in music, the role of technology in her creative process, and how she works to increase opportunities for musicians with disabilities.A Life Shaped by MusicPerez's passion for music started early, surrounded by the diverse sounds of her Puerto Rican household. From salsa and reggaeton to R&B and pop, her exposure to various genres helped shape her identity as an artist. She recalls her first songwriting experience in fourth grade, when she transformed a poem into a song with the help of a music teacher. That moment solidified her desire to pursue music professionally, leading her to Berklee, where she refined her skills in both performance and education. As a blind musician, Perez explains how she interacts with music differently from sighted artists. She describes her early experiences learning Braille music and how tactile memory plays a role in understanding composition. While she primarily relies on her ear, her knowledge of Braille notation helps her analyze rhythm and structure in a unique way.Technology as a Tool for InclusionFor Perez, technology has been both a gateway and a challenge. She demonstrates how she uses a BrailleSense note taker, a device that allows her to type lyrics and read them in Braille while composing. She also shares how screen reading software enables her to navigate recording software like Logic Pro and Pro Tools, ensuring she can produce and edit her music independently.Beyond the studio, accessibility in live performance is another key consideration. Whether using in-ear monitors or giving cues to her bandmates through verbal or physical signals, Perez emphasizes that clear communication and collaboration make performances seamless.Advocating for Disability Representation in MusicPerez is also the president of RAMPD (Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities), an organization founded by recording artist Lachi and NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner Gaelynn Lea. RAMPD is dedicated to amplifying disability culture, promoting accessibility, and ensuring that disabled artists have equitable opportunities in the music industry. The organization consults with major industry events like the Grammys, NAMM, and Folk Alliance to improve accessibility and representation. She stresses that disability is an often-overlooked part of diversity and that anyone, at any time, could join this community due to illness, injury, or aging. Through RAMPD, Perez and her colleagues are breaking down barriers and proving that disabled musicians are just as competitive and professional as their peers.A New Era of MusicPerez is embracing a new era in her music, blending her Latin roots with her pop and R&B influences. She performs her latest song, Rosé, a Spanish-language track about embracing the present moment with a loved one despite life's difficulties. With plans to record a new project with We Could Be Music in Costa Rica, she is leaning into the Latin music space in a way she has always envisioned. Her story is one of resilience, innovation, and passion. From navigating music education as a blind student to advocating for industry-wide accessibility, Perez is proving that talent and determination—not sight—define an artist's success.Listen to the full episode to hear Precious Perez's insights on technology, performance, and advocacy in music.SponsorsAre you interested in sponsoring this show or placing an ad in the podcast?Sponsorship
