Welcome to my podcast series. I have been interested in poetry, and writing it, since I was a little girl of 10. In this series, I will share my experiences of life, the good the bad and the ugly, through my poems. My poems will reflect the major themes and turning points of my life that I am sure will resonate with many other women. Love, family, faith are my foundations and the prism through which I view the world. They power my poems! The episodes will be short, no longer than 5-10 minutes, but long enough to give you, hopefully, some pause for thought and reflection. I hope you’ll join me!

In this poem I talk about this issue of self-doubt. We all sometimes suffer what some experts call Imposter Syndrome. I have been successfully employed in my role at a large multi-national corporation for 13 years now, yet still that inner demon of self-doubt still lurks deep within...waiting for the moment to strike! How do I cope with feelings of self-doubt? How do I overcome Imposter Syndrome? Join me in todays short journey through my poem called "Voices".

In today's episode I am joined by a very special guest to celebrate Black lives...my 8 year old daughter Aisha! In the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, I decided to share my thoughts about the black experience in the western hemisphere. Although a desperate story of mans inhumanity toward his fellow man, there is always a ray of hope. I wanted to share that ray of hope with my young daughter. As a young girl of colour, we both found hope, courage and inspiration from the stories of three incredible black women that changed the course of history. We both were inspired and encouraged by their stories. We hope you are too.

This poem is about the heartbreak of redundancy. As a HR Leader I have found myself in the unenviable position of having to let people go. It has been a burden that has weighed heavy on me, none more so than in this time of global crisis. My poem isn't just about me. It's about the people that have had their lives turned upside down by job loss.

In this poem I talk about the birth of my first child followed very shortly by the miscarriage of my second pregnancy. I talk about the feelings of loss, emptiness and self doubt as well as my faith enabling me to overcome and eventually accept what happened.
