It all leads to Grandma Charlotte showing up and reading him a letter from his dad. Allie is talking to Oliver and she asks Oliver to help look through Jack's old case files that she could show to LJ. She shows it to Charlotte and she loves it and asks if she can hold onto it for a little bit. She awkwardly ends the call. At the schoolhouse, the students present their ideas for the Benson Hills schoolhouse. Rupert and Opal steal the show, open concept and stuff. Lucas loves it and tells them he wants to take the plans to the committee. At supper, Charlotte shows Allie that she created some illustrations to add to her story. Allie loves them and decides it's time to give the book to LJ. LJ loves the gift and begins reading it aloud right away. We're talking about a universal struggle: losing your car in a parking lot. Zweli shares a hilarious story about searching for a car in a basement parking lot with his colleague, Producer DX. They even called the people who drive the cars every day, only to find out the cars were moved to a different building. This got us thinking about the times we've all been there - pacing around a parking lot, wondering if our car is stolen or if we're just going crazy. We're joined by listeners who share their own stories of car-related anxiety, from walking around Africa for 45 minutes to reporting a car stolen after a night out. Are you running from God — or wondering if He still wants you back? In Week 2 of Come to Jesus, Pastor John S. Dickerson walks through Luke 15 and the powerful stories of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son. When religious leaders criticized Jesus for welcoming sinners, He responded with a story that changes everything. A shepherd searches for one lost sheep. A woman sweeps her house for one lost coin. A father runs to embrace a rebellious son. Why? Because what is lost is valuable. In this message, you’ll discover: How God truly feels about you Why heaven rejoices over one sinner who repents What it means that the Father ran How Jesus came to seek and save the lost No matter how far you’ve wandered, your Creator would rather leave heaven and suffer to reach you than be comfortable without you. If you’ve ever wondered whether you’ve gone too far, this message is for you. A parable is defined as an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. And the parable of the prodigal son found in Luke 15 may be one of the most famous parables in Scripture. The story of the prodigal son is about God losing something very precious and sending His son, Jesus, to get it back. This is God's world, and He wants it back! Some things we buy out of want. Other things we buy out of necessity. In this week’s message we step into the moment when Jesus intentionally walks into uncomfortable territory and meets a woman who came looking for water—but discovered something far greater. In John 4, we see what happens when Jesus crosses barriers, exposes what’s really going on in a heart, and offers living water to someone who did not expect it. Together we’ll ask three simple but powerful questions: What have you lost? What have you found? And what will you do now? The disciples lose their comfort and discover a harvest. A woman loses her old thirst and finds the truth. An entire community loses its separation and finds the Savior of the world. This moment is about more than a story from Scripture—it’s an invitation to recognize what Jesus may be helping you lose and find in your own life, and how your story might point someone else to Him. Join us at 8 or 11am for a worship service this weekend at Mitchell Berean! - Pastor Ben Key Verse - John 4:10 (NIV) - "Jesus answered her, 'If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.'” For this week's Scripture and notes: http://bible.com/events/49559551
Janice Page thinks of life like water. It flows, and you find yourself in situations you never could have imagined. In her new memoir, The Year of the Water Horse, Janice draws a complex love story across cultures, biology, and oceans. This week's book is Libby Lost & Found, by Stephanie Booth, about Libby Weeks, the reclusive author of the hit fantasy series “The Falling Children”, who faces a crisis when she is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's and struggles to complete her overdue manuscript. In desperation, she enlists the help of eleven-year-old superfan Peanut Bixton, who knows the series inside and out but has her own hidden troubles. As Libby grapples with her diagnosis, Peanut and her family work to protect and help her save herself and the series. My guest this week is Kendall Concini-Moore. Kendall‘s greatest adventure began not on the page, but at home, as a mother. Her book Mom's Cloud and the Beach Adventure was inspired by her own family and her struggles with depression, or her “cloud.” With empathy and playful hearts, her family encourages her to rest, reminding her that it's okay to not be okay, because clouds don't last forever. Complete with discussion questions and resources, this picture book gives children ages 4-8 the language to understand when someone they love is struggling, while celebrating that sometimes, simply being together is the most caring thing. You can find out more about her and her book on her website, https://cloudydaychronicles.org/, through her Substack where she shares resources: cloudydaychronicles.substack.com/ and on social media @cloudydaychronicles.Kendall curated our drink this week: A Black Manhattan with a coffee twist, listen to the episode to learn how this was inspired by the book and what author Stephanie Booth thought Libby's favorite drink would be!Ingredients2 oz rye whiskey (or bourbon if you want it softer)1 oz Amaro¼ oz coffee liqueur (just a pinch—enough to deepen, not dominate)2-3 dashes orange bitters (optional but rounds it out)Luxardo cherry or orange twist for garnishDirectionsAdd rye (or bourbon), amaro, coffee liqueur, and bitters to a mixing glass.Fill with ice and stir vigorously for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.Strain into a chilled coupe (for up) or an old-fashioned glass over a large ice cube (for on the rocks).Garnish with a Luxardo cherry or a long orange twist. Join us with Pastor Chad Benson in a brand new series titled Lost and Found as we dive in Luke 15 and the parable of the prodigal son.
In this episode of Now I Get It, I take a hard, compassionate look at one of the most tragic patterns I see in relationships: what I call the death spiral. It's the painful process where two people genuinely love each other, yet slowly drift apart—not because love is gone, but because it's never truly felt. I explain how our personalities shape the way we give and receive love, and why so many couples unknowingly miss each other despite constant effort.I walk through how this spiral begins with good intentions, escalates through frustration and withdrawal, and often ends quietly—when the fighting stops and hope fades. But this episode isn't about blame or despair. It's about awareness and repair. By understanding personality-driven love expressions and learning to recognize what truly resonates with your partner, it's possible to reverse the cycle, rebuild connection, and restore the mutual affection that brought you together in the first place. In this episode, you will learn:(00:00) Why loving someone deeply isn't enough to sustain a relationship(01:10) How personality shapes the way we give and receive love(02:17) Why both partners often feel they're giving more than they get(03:15) How “trying harder” can accelerate relational breakdown(04:00) The stages of the relationship death spiral—from criticism to silence(05:11) How understanding love languages tied to personality can reverse the spiral(05:45) How mutual appreciation and attraction can be restored over timeLet's connect!linktr.ee/drprandy Hosted on Acast.
