Episode #993 Ever feel like you've checked all the boxes—career, family, success—but something still doesn't feel right? You're not alone. And more importantly, you're not broken. In this episode, Tim Matthews is joined by Gregory “Dynamite” and Derek “The Redwood” for a down-to-earth conversation about what it really means to feel lost as a man. They get honest about the times in their lives when they realized they were completely off track—and what it took to admit it, face it, and find their way forward. This isn't about having a breakdown. It's about having a breakthrough. They share what it feels like to build a life that looks great on the outside, but doesn't feel right on the inside. The pressure to have the answers. The temptation to sedate with work, alcohol, or just staying busy. The fear of admitting you're not sure who you are anymore. But they also dive into the shift that happens when you stop fighting that feeling—and start listening to it. In this episode, you'll hear how spending time in nature, reconnecting with purpose, and leaning on brotherhood helped each of them move from feeling trapped to truly alive again. If you've ever wondered, “How did I get here?”—this conversation is for you. Sometimes being lost isn't a problem. It's a wake-up call. And it might be exactly what you need to finally find yourself. Feeling lost in your marriage too? Just like in life, the first step to fixing a relationship is admitting you're not where you want to be. This free training shows you exactly how to get clarity, connection, and that spark back.

Dr. Al Grauer hosts. Dr. Albert D. Grauer ( @Nmcanopus ) is an observational asteroid hunting astronomer. Dr. Grauer retired from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2006. travelersinthenight.org From September 2024. Today's 2 topics: - When asteroid hunters follow an object in the night sky for a few hours or a couple of days they are only able to observe a snippet or tracklet of the object's hundreds to thousands of days long path around the Sun. If we only have a short sample of an orbit we loose precision to locate the object as the length of time since the last observation increases. It is thus possible to lose the knowledge of where to find a particular asteroid. - It's a good thing this one will miss Earth! Riding the surface of the asteroid that my Catalina Sky Survey teammate Richard Kowalski recently discovered would be an incredible experience.   We've added a new way to donate to 365 Days of Astronomy to support editing, hosting, and production costs.  Just visit: https://www.patreon.com/365DaysOfAstronomy and donate as much as you can! “As my own mother is aging, she's telling me … before I take this to my grave, here is something you should know. So the secrets are coming out. And as more and more secrets are revealed, I'm learning more about myself.” - Ibi Zoboi Ibi Zoboi writes to remember—her own story, her family's legacy, and the long history of migration, myth, and memory that shaped them both. For Ibi, storytelling is a form of resistance and reclamation. It's how she makes sense of the secrets that shaped her life and gives voice to those left out of the narrative. A National Book Award finalist and the bestselling author of American Street, Pride, Star Child, and (S)Kin, Ibi's work blurs the line between folklore and futurism. In this episode, Stories Left Untold: Ibi Zoboi on Secrets Lost and Found, she opens up about growing up Haitian in 1980s Brooklyn, discovering a half-sister decades later, and finding her way to writing through soap operas, Stephen King, and the voices of women who came before her. She also shares how a Vodou ceremony in Brooklyn changed her relationship to her culture, why she always sought out elders and activists, and how she's still learning to push back against the pressure to fit a mold—on the page and off.Ibi's reading challenge, Haitian Creations, celebrates stories of migration and identity from first-generation and immigrant voices—stories that, like hers, speak to the truths we inherit and the ones we uncover for ourselves.Download Ibi's reading challenge at thereadingculturepod.com/ibi-zoboiAnd this week's Beanstack Featured Librarian is once again William Shaller, the librarian at Hoffman Middle School in Houston, Texas. There's a difference between making money and building wealth. Between achieving success and sustaining it. David Meltzer learned this the hard way when he lost over $100 million and had to tell his mother he'd lost her house too. In this powerful conversation with Genea, David shares the three distinct phases of his entrepreneurial journey and the internal shifts that changed everything. This isn't your typical rags-to-riches story. It's about the hidden costs of building from scarcity, the emptiness that can come with external success, and the moment David discovered that his biggest problem wasn't his circumstances, it was his relationship with them. The insights David shares go straight to the heart of what it means to build something sustainable:

LOVING LIFE AT HOME - Christian Marriage, Faith-Based Parenting, Biblical Homemaking, Purposeful Living

Father's Day is less than a week away, so I thought this would be a wonderful time to share a story about my father. I have lots of cherished memories to choose from, but this is one of my all-time favorites. I'm sure that, in the midst of the childhood crisis I was experiencing at the time, my dad never dreamed what a lasting and long-reaching effect of his response would have in my life, but it did. Show Notes VERSES CITED:  1 John 3:1 - “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” Romans 8:38 - “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” John 1:12 - “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.”  RELATED LINKS: 5 Lessons I Learned by Losing a Diamond Fathers Matter (Every Day of the Year) A Letter to My Father Free Printable Prayer for Fathers A Hero in the Making: Like Father, Like Son STAY CONNECTED: Subscribe: Flanders Family Freebies -weekly themed link lists of free resources Instagram: @flanders_family - follow for more great content Family Blog: Flanders Family Home Life - parenting tips, homeschool help, lprintables Marriage Blog: Loving Life at Home- encouragement for wives, mothers, believers

finally.Da: "Jeg hjælper dig.En: "I'll help you.Da: Men det bliver farligt."En: But it will be dangerous."Da: Som de nærmede sig udkanten af byen, blev situationen farligere.En: As they approached the edge of the city, the situation became more dangerous.Da: Her herskede lovløse bander og scavengers, klar til at angribe enhver fremmed.En: Here, lawless gangs and scavengers reigned, ready to attack any stranger.Da: Mikkel stod over for en gruppe netop af den slags, der pludselig omringede ham.En: Mikkel faced a group just of that kind that suddenly surrounded him.Da: Mikkel mærkede panikken stige, men i samme øjeblik trådte Lars frem ved hans side.En: Mikkel felt panic rising, but at the same moment, Lars stepped forward by his side.Da: Med mod, han syntes at have glemt, kastede Lars sig ind i kampen.En: With courage he seemed to have forgotten, Lars threw himself into the fight.Da: Tilsammen lykkedes det dem at skræmme angriberne væk.En: Together, they managed to scare the attackers away.Da: Rystende men lettet, faldt Mikkel tilbage.En: Shaking but relieved, Mikkel fell back.Da: "Tak, Lars.En: "Thank you, Lars.Da: Jeg ved ikke, hvad jeg skulle have gjort uden dig."En: I don't know what I would have done without you."Da: Mens de trak vejret, og nervesystemet faldt til ro, bemærkede Mikkel et stykke papir flagre i sneen.En: As they caught their breath and their nervous systems calmed, Mikkel noticed a piece of paper fluttering in the snow.Da: Et enkelt blik, og hans hjerte sprang et slag over.En: A single look, and his heart skipped a beat.Da: Det var en besked – en besked fra Sofie.En: It was a message—a message from Sofie.Da: Hun havde været her og efterladt en ledetråd.En: She had been here and left a clue.Da: Lars så over Mikkels skulder og nikkede langsomt.En: Lars looked over Mikkel's shoulder and nodded slowly.Da: Beslutningen var truffet.En: The decision was made.Da: "Så er det nu," sagde han.En: "Now's the time," he said.Da: "Lad os finde hende."En: "Let's find her."Da: Sammen fortsatte de deres rejse, med nyt håb og forbundet af en fornyet forståelse.En: Together, they continued their journey, with new hope and bound by a renewed understanding.Da: Mikkel vidste nu, at Lars' tøven kom af frygt og hans egen pligt.En: Mikkel now knew that Lars's hesitation came from fear and his own duty.Da: Lars havde genfundet værdien af In 1932, along with a group of African American activists and writers including novelist Dorothy West, Langston Hughes journeyed to the Soviet Union. Veering off from the “official” trip, Hughes met Arthur Koestler before venturing on to an extended journey through the newly formed republics of Central Asia. While Hughes' readers may be familiar with his A Negro Looks at Soviet Central Asia, this chapbook makes available previously unpublished material drawn from Hughes' notebooks, photographs, and collaborative translation projects with Uzbek poets. Just as his own work is being translated into Uzbek, Hughes—ever the participant—collaborates with his peer poets in the region to produce texts published in this collection for the first time.  Cholpon Ramizova is a London-based creator and researcher. Nikki Daye, a school psychologist and ADHD advocate, grew up in the foster care system. She was diagnosed with ADHD as a child, but her medical records were eventually lost. As she got older, her ADHD diagnosis wasn't considered. Instead, her symptoms were misdiagnosed as anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorder. While her ADHD diagnosis was “lost in translation,” Nikki spent a lot of time feeling misunderstood and unsupported. It wasn't until adulthood that she finally got the clarity she needed. Continuing with our "Come Home" theme, Women's Ministry Leader Christina Maldonado delivered the message titled "Lost & Found" and reflected on the characteristics of the woman in Luke 15 and how we get to see God's relentless pursuit of us even as we can get lost in the church.  If you missed the message be sure to click here to watch to it and don't forget to review the challenges posed (listed below) during the message. Homework: 1. Reflect on Luke 15.  How has God searched for you? Pray a prayer of gratitude, write a letter to God and/or share about your reflection with someone. 2. Who has God used to search after you?  Send them a message of gratitude. 3. How is God calling you back home?  Share about that this week and begin the process of coming home.

Everyone has a story. In this episode, Coach Brown tells the story of how he was the orphan child. Through God's sovereignty, Coach Brown was placed in the home of Arthur and Pearl Brown. God has chosen who are going to be His and all we can say is thank you. We are a product of God's grace. Ephesians 1:5 says that "God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ." God is the hero and because of the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, we now have a new life.
